Chapter 15 - Bite his master

Just when Luna decided to kill Morwen, he fell on his knees and quietly begged for his life while glancing back at his captain to check if the captain was watching his pathetic state. Lucky for him, Zarek was still too busy with Lucian, who barely had the stamina to continue fighting.

"I want to join your party, and I can also help you to save him." Morwen said. With his strength he couldn't do anything, but with Luna's strength and his deceit, maybe there was something he could do. He convinced Luna to give him her poisonous swords, and she agreed. He took it and marched over to Zarek's side.

"Get lost, Morwen; can't you see I'm busy?" Zarek said without bothering to look behind him. He was strangling Lucian with one strong hand, and Lucian couldn't escape his grip. "I'm going to make sure you die a painful death, you cocky bastard. You wasted my damned time; I can't even level up from fighting a weakling like you." He squeezed harder at Lucian's neck, his strong hold threatening to break his neck completely. Lucian's face became pale, and then suddenly Morwen pierced his captain with Luna's blade.

Luna had only agreed to give Morwen her blade because she knew that she couldn't easily get close to Zarek like Morwen could.

Zarek let go of Lucian, angry and surprised by Morwen's betrayal, and then he noticed his dead teammate by Luna's side. He was so caught up in his fight with Lucian that he didn't know that his team had failed.

"One strike isn't enough to kill a beast like you." Morwen said and aimed again at Zarek's heart.

Zarek forced his body to move slightly from Morwen's aim; he still got pierced by the sword in the chest, except that the sword had missed coming in contact with his heart.

Luna was healing her wounded body; she was impressed that Zarek was still able to move after the first strike from her blade. He almost seemed as though he wasn't human. But the second strike, which brought him down, made her realize that he's human after all. She quickly took her blade from Morwen after the second strike, unable to trust him completely. Afterwards she went over to heal Lucian; he was dragging in breath and seemed as though he was dying. His arms were crushed and couldn't move because of the magic he used.

Lucian was halfway healed when he sat upright on the ground and glared at Morwen. "Who sent you to kill him?!" He yelled. "Did I ask for your help?!"

"I…I…only wanted to stop him from killing you." Morwen was confused as he tried to defend himself because he just saved Lucian's life, and yet Lucian was so angry. He didn't know that the reason why Lucian was so angry was because he couldn't steal Zarek's strength and ability if he wasn't the one who killed him. "I'm on your side."

"I don't want you." Lucian stopped as he noticed the little raise in Zarek's chest. The bastard was still alive. It was little, but it was something. He moved and took Luna's sword with one of his arms that had been completely healed. The other arm was still dead.

Luna was about to remind him of his injuries but stopped when she realized what he was about to do.

Quickly, before Zarek could die from the poison that was already in his system, Lucian pierced his heart. Zarek didn't have any form of strength to move this time; he could only watch in rage as he died by Lucian's cowardly hands.

[Error…] Lucian system glitches as a screen pops up before him.

[A new system detected…]

[Can't… the player now has a new skill.]

[Player unrecognizable…. Status… villain… player, Lucian]

[New Skill: The great knight… skill owner unrecognized]

Like before, the Lucian system tries to reboot itself and fails.

[Player: Lucian… unrecognized]

[Locking up access to level up]

"Damn you." Lucian cursed at his system and fell down to his knees; now that the battle was over, he could feel the pain of every wound in his body. "Thank you."

Luna frowns in response to Lucian as she continues to heal him.

"Why is he still alive?" Lucian asks coldly as his eyes move to Morwen.

"He wants to join our team." Luna answered, a bit amazed that Lucian didn't care about Morwen being the one who saved his life.

"Okay."

"Okay?" Luna and Morwen both repeated in surprise.

"You are welcome to the team." Lucian let out a smile.

"Thank you, Captain!" Morwen bowed his head in respect.

Luna pulled back after she was done healing Lucian; she had expected him to say no to Morwen's requests.

"Don't call me that." Lucian said in distaste. "Just call me Lucian."

"Okay, Capta… Sir… I mean Lucian."

Lucian, Luna, and Morwen continue to journey in the dungeon. Lucian questions Morwen about his ability and the school he came from in their world before they ended up in Hlasked.

Morwen opened his eyes; he looked around his open surroundings when Lucian had instructed them to rest. It was impossible to tell night and day in the dungeon; they only rested when their body felt tired. Lucian and Luna were both sleeping, each in their separate corner. Morwen's eyes went to the Luna blade that was close to her side; he considered killing her first with her own blade, but if he did that, Lucian would be alert and kill him. Lucian was his main target; he could always get rid of Luna after he had gotten his power and status as the villain.

Slowly, with careful silent steps, Morwen took Luna's blade, unsheathed it, and then proceeded to move over to Lucian's side, which was close to the wall of the dungeon. He was sleeping with an arm over his eyes.

"Isn't that too dangerous for you to handle?" Luna asked. Her eyes opened as she turned her head to face Morwen; she couldn't sleep because she didn't trust Morwen. It didn't make sense to her why he would want to join Lucian's team, and he gave no reason for wanting to join them.

Lucian's carelessness for not properly questioning Morwen pissed Luna off more; his careless decision kept endangering their life. "Don't worry." She sat upright and stretched out her hand. "There is no poison in the blade, so hand it over."

Morwen hid the worried expression on his face and let out a nervous chuckle. "I was just checking out the blade." He lied, "I was curious about the sort of poison you place on it that is powerful enough to kill people instantly."

"That's my ability; I can turn it on and off at will." Luna said coldly.

From the side, when Lucian was pretending to be asleep, his lip let out a little smirk.

'I was right not to trust a dog who was disloyal enough to bite his master,' he thought. 'I know the best way to deal with you.'

"I'm going to go back to sleep." Morwen stated nervously, realizing his mistake in not bothering to check on Lucian and Luna's ability in order to know what he was dealing with. All he knew was their name and nothing else.

"Is that all you were trying to do?" Luna asked coldly and held her blade tightly in her hand.

Fear took over Morwen, but he still tries his best to hide it.

"Why the noise, you two?" Lucian yawns, pretending as though he just woke up from sleep.

"Morwen just tried to kill you."

"No. That's not true." Morwen defended himself. Nervous sweat finds its way to his forehead. 'I'm dead,' he thought.

Lucian laughed. "Look at the guy," he said in a carefree voice. "That can't be true. I believe you, Morwen."

Luna frowned, her bangs covering her piercing glare. 'This idiot, is he that eager to die? I thought he was smart.'

"Drop it, Luna; let's go back to sleep. Morwen is new to the team; don't make him uncomfortable." Lucian turned his back to Luna and Morwen, smiling to himself.

Morwen lay down; his heart was beating out of control because of fear. He was afraid of Luna and thought of Lucian as a fool who trusted people too easily.
