Sol system–Earth]
The planet was the third planet from its star and was within the habitable zone of the star system. It was a beautiful marble of a planet with patches of green and some brown, one side was illuminated by the sun and the other was dark, with golden city lights emanating from the continents as they faced away from the sun's light.
Cecil Stedman was the current director of the Global Defence Agency, otherwise known as The GDA. As the name suggests the agency aims to protect the global from various types of threats and in order to achieve that goal, the GDA has gathered some of the brightest minds the world has offered and some of the most extraordinary people that it can find.
These extraordinary people include individuals who have superpowers and use these individuals to protect the world.
Given the fact the GDA is an agency made to protect the world because of that, it has a far reaching jurisdiction, even in nations not part of the United Nations. This is because the GDA, while it has close ties to the UN, is not part of the UN and is a separate entity meant to protect the world and not govern it.
The reason this is relevant is because As Director of the GDA Cecil Stedman holds power that is unparalleled by any government official in the world, and because of that his job demands far more from him than any job out there and that often makes the man a little less charitable in terms of personality and mood.
The doors slid open, and Cecil entered the command centre of the GDA, and his eyes were greeted by a plethora of agents seated at their computers waiting for him. They were all uncharacteristically silent and turned to look at him the moment he entered.
He paused as he witnessed the eerie silence, usually there's always the click clack of fingers punching on the keys of the computer's keyboard, mixed with some whispering and shifting eyes. However, they were now silent to the point that you could hear a pin drop. He could tell whatever the emergency was. It was beyond anything he had faced before.
"Alright people, let's not forget to breathe. I'm sure whatever it is, it's not enough to take your breath away"
He joked as he walked into the room as if he owned the place. Each stride shows his confidence as the director of an entire global defence agency.
"I wouldn't be so quick to say, sir"
a man wearing a beige suit and aviator shades spoke as he handed him a rectangular touch pad.
"Why do you say that Donald, the guardians just beat a Kaiju off the coast of Japan? At this point, I've seen it all"
Cecil maintained his stance and took the pad off Donald's hand, and looked at what it displayed on the screen.
"What am I looking at?"
"A transmission, sir. It seemed to be broadcasting to any channel that could pick it up. Luckily, so far, we're the only ones who've picked it up"
Donald answered, however, his words making Cecil sceptical that aliens would be the thing that takes his breath away, after all Martians have been confirmed to exist.
"Aliens? Donald, that's not new"
"I understand that Sir but…"
Donald trailed off, his gaze moved to look at the giant monitor screen that essentially made up most of the wall it was mounted on. He then motioned one of the agents to turn it on, and when it did, the monitor revealed something that indeed took his breath away and made his body tense up.
What Cecil and the rest of the people in the room saw was what could easily be described as an Army of spaceships looming over earth menacingly.
Cecil frowned as he looked at what seemed to be an alien Army that came to take over the earth. He's seen plenty of movies with that kind of plot many times before. However, seeing it in person brought with an intense sense of dread.
What worried Cecil was the huge ship at the centre of it all. It looked to be a mother ship of sorts, and that told him that if this was an invasion, the aliens brought everything they had.
"Block the transmission and make it so only we can receive it. Somebody also contact the UN and notify them of what we're seeing. I'm assuming the aliens are still too far away to be visible in the sky."
He ordered, and the agents began to work. Cecil walked to the centre of the room and placed his hands on his waist. He heaved a deep sigh before he gave Donald a nod.
He didn't know what the aliens wanted, but he was already assuming the worst case scenario and if they truly came to conquer earth then he hoped that nukes would be enough to send them packing although it wasn't that much hope.
"Just our luck, Aliens come knocking, and we aren't even prepared to receive them."
The existence of Martian man made it apparent that aliens exist, at least Martians are known to exist and because of that there have been efforts to create updated rocketships, not only for interstellar travel but for interstellar warfare as well unfortunately that hasn't been going well.
Donald fiddled with the pad for a few seconds before the big monitor's display switched from footage of the space crafts to footage of a humanoid looking man with a moustache. He looked to be in some sort of Bridge, a commander centre for the spaceships he was in.
"Greetings Earthlings, My name is General Kregg of the Viltrumite Empire. Be at ease we come in peace"
The alien greeted, his voice non-threatening. However, when Cecil heard the word "Empire" he immediately felt the sense of dread that had settled in his stomach begin to travel all over his body.
"Hello to you too, General Kregg. My name is Cecil Stedman, and I am the current director of the Global Defence Agency. Correct me if I'm wrong, but bringing an entire fleet of ships doesn't lead one to believe you come in peace"
Cecil responded and noted the frown that appeared on General Kregg's face once he began speaking. He couldn't tell what it was for, but he could bet the General did not like the way he spoke.
'Did they actually come here for invasion and are lying to get us to lower our guard?'
Cecil questioned himself as he looked at General Kregg. He could tell the General was a little uncomfortable but was maintaining a calm face.
"Forgive me for being rude. However, I must ask, are you the representative of your planet?"
Cecil did not answer immediately as he considered the question. It would be easier to answer yes as it's likely that this General Kregg will not discuss anything with someone who is not of a high enough rank.
However, lying could also be an issue. If they truly are here for peace, earth could benefit quite a bit from their existence, so lying could sour any future relationships.
"In matters regarding global security, I have the highest authority and can act as the representative of Earth if necessary, so yes to your question"
He answered, "Although not a complete lie, it was not the full truth either. He is the equivalent of a general but more on a global scale.
"That is… sufficient"
With that said, the screen blinked, almost as if switching off before it came back on again. However, this time, it showed someone else. Another man, however he was bigger and appeared more muscular than Kregg and had a clean fade hair cut with a crisp line up.
He had a moustache like Kregg, but his clothes were a deep red, and he looked to have a cape with a furred collar.
"Greetings Cecil Stedman Director of the GDA, I am Emperor Thragg. I hope this day finds you well"
