Chapter 9 - chapter 9: News travels fast

"The first rule 'Do not be a danger to an innocent human' of course innocent here means a human who has made no attempts to harm you in any way. With this rule, we ensure that they can perceive us as safe."

He informed her, and Anissa quickly began to record what the Emperor was saying using the comms device on her wrist.

"Of course, that is just a rough outline of what I imagine the regulations should be. We can polish them and make them palatable to everyone else in the Empire "

He said as he figured that wording was important when it came to establishing rules and regulations. Although he couldn't help but feel that maybe he was getting a bit ahead of himself after all, Earth had yet to even agree to even let them enter the atmosphere.

"Understood, Sire"

Anissa gave him a nod.

"Also while we're at it, why not make some changes to the Viltrumite laws to accommodate the coming generation, considering they won't be growing up knowing only Viltrumite customs and culture, I think it is important to make some changes to the laws"

He suggested, and Anissa gave a look that told she was ruminating on the matter and considering the possible reception by the Viltrumites.

Thragg, on the other hand, knew that his suggestion was less about commoditing the coming generation of Viltrumites but more about creating a space for change for the current population of Viltrumites.

He expects that their time on earth will change them. However, he can not expect that change to happen smoothly without making some changes to the empire.

He's lucky he only has to worry about a population of less than fifty Viltrumites and not a complete society.

"Understood, sire. While we're on the topic of the next generation…"

She paused, feeling that it was a little difficult to broach the topic as it was quite personal.

"The empire's current duty is to repopulate and while we can be expected to mate with the humans, as you are aware Sire, you are expected to mate with a female that is both intelligent and physically capable"

She explained and of course Thragg was already aware of something like that, Viltrumites value strength and intelligence, their Emperor must be powerful and wise, this meant that his mate must also be physically strong and intelligent.

It's expected for anyone to be able to contribute to the empire as such the emperor's mate must be intelligent enough to be able to assist the Emperor in his duties and be strong enough to be part of the military.

This was not a hard criterion to pass as most Viltrumites usually already have those traits. However, this time, things are a little different. Earth does not have a surplus of women who can fulfill that criteria, at least not in terms of Viltrumite standards.

"I see, That does present an issue"

He responded as he scratched his chin he certainly can't expect anyone Earthlings woman to meet Viltrumite expectations.

"Not necessarily Sire, although our population is low, we still have plenty of females who can take up the role of your mate."

She answered and he gave a look of surprise. Honestly he did not think it was in the cards to mate with Viltrumites, mostly because he's the type to prefer women on the softer side but he supposed it was not something completely out of the question.

Digging through his memories or, rather Thragg's memories, he found out that since most Viltrumite females are already strong and intelligent, there's too many who are qualified to mate with the Emperor. So in order to reduce the number of possible candidates, a tournament of sorts is held.

It's purely a strength base tournament to find the strongest Viltrumite female amongst the worthy candidates, and she'll be the one to mate with the Emperor. It was barbaric, but it worked.

"Alright I'll leave the arrangement of that to you. Is that alright with you?"

"Yes sire, it would be an honor to handle the matter in your stead."

She answered with a slight bow of her head. She didn't think there was a Viltrumite female stronger than her. However, she could not just elect herself, but she was confident she was going to be the winner.

With that matter handled, the two moved back on topic and began to discuss what they were here for.

It took them a full hour to come up and finalize the regulations and guidelines for Viltrumites to live amongst Earthlings and with that finished all was left was to wait on Cecil to deliver the good or bad news.

[USA— New York city]

[Three days later]

[Breaking news! Strange alien spaceship craft have been discovered hovering near our planet just a few miles behind the moon.

Have aliens come to take over our world?

These strange alien space vessels were recently discovered by an anonymous astronomy enthusiast when he used his home telescope two days ago.

For him, it was just another day of looking at the star. He had no idea what to expect when he saw strange alien-like space ships.

The government has made no official statement as of yet. However, there's word that an emergency UN meeting was scheduled.

Does this mean Earth is in danger of an alien invasion, and are we doomed? We'll try to keep you updated as the story develops]

The news broke the internet mere seconds after it aired, and it divided the world, many denied its legitimacy, and others were convinced. Like with all stories, there were two opposing sides to the story, and both were convinced of their own beliefs.

Ever since breaking the story to the news, James has been in his home doom scrolling on social media, every one had an opinion, influencers, content creators and Podcasters jumped onto the train, furthering discussions on the topic.

James was currently scrolling through Tok Tik, and his front page was flooded with people talking about the news.

"Wake up, people! This is a distraction. The economy is in shambles, the president was accused of sexual assault and they've yet to release the files. It's a distraction from the administration to get us to forget about the things that really matter"

A video of a popular left leaning content creator with millions of views popped up on his front page, and they drone on about how this was a distraction from the wars going on in the world, a distraction from corruption. And looking at the comment section, James could tell a significant number of them agreed.

"Don't fall for it, don't be sheep, they've done this before in 2022, told us about 'aliens' but it turned out to be hoax"

James read out one of the top comments with hundreds of replies and nearly 100k likes.

He couldn't help but roll his eyes. The pictures he took were real and were not AI or anything like that, but the comment section seemed to disagree with him.

Jorkinittojudyhops"I for one welcome our new alien overlords"

He chuckled as he read the comments and added a like to the already thousands of likes.

He scrolled again, and this time, a popular physicist known as Dr. Blotz was discussing the pictured that James had taken and was breaking down the make and structure of the ships, making guesses regarding the alloy used to make the ships, and what kind of fuel could be powering the ships, he still approached the topic with some skepticism but he seemed convinced.

He looked at the comments, and they too seemed to hold a degree of skepticism, but they also were curious.

Thatguyisme: "honestly if this is real, I wonder if they're carbon-based life forms like us, or maybe they're silicone based? "

123k ❤️

There was a plethora of comments making speculation about the aliens, how they look, how they function, and what they eat, James couldn't help but feel vindicated by the comments.
