My Past Life – Part 12
The principal's office was quiet except for the sound of his heavy breathing as he glared at me. His face was red with anger, and his voice was sharp like a knife.
"Why did you do that, Mr. Peter?" he asked, his words slow but filled with frustration. "Don't you know you're still new in this school? You almost killed him! Didn't you notice that he was losing a lot of blood?"
I sat there, my hands clenched into fists, my heart pounding in my chest. I wanted to explain, to tell him that Joe had started everything, but I knew it wouldn't matter. The principal had already made up his mind.
"I will have to call your father soon and let him know what you did," the principal continued, his voice cold. "With his decision, we will know what to do next. For now, consider yourself suspended for a week."
My eyes widened in shock. "What? But sir, it's exam week! I can't be suspended now!" I shouted, jumping up from my seat.
The principal leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing. "Do you want to teach me my job, boy?" he asked, his voice dangerously calm.
I swallowed hard, feeling the anger bubbling inside me. But I knew arguing would only make things worse. "No, sir," I replied slowly, forcing myself to sit back down.
"Good," the principal said, nodding. "Now, once you return next Monday, you will apologize to Mr. Joe and the entire school. And you will receive fifteen strokes of the cane."
My stomach twisted. "Jesus, sir! Apologize to everyone? Why? I didn't do anything to anyone except Joe!" I snapped, my voice shaking with rage.
The principal didn't even blink. "Well, I don't care. That's how it's going to be—unless you want to be expelled."
I gritted my teeth, my hands trembling. There was no way out. "Alright, sir," I muttered. "I will try."
Without another word, I stormed out of his office, my anger burning hotter than ever.
As soon as I stepped outside, I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. But the fury wouldn't go away. I had told Sarah to wait for me in the main school hall, and I wasn't going to let her down.
Honestly, this was the first time I had ever done something like this for a girl. I felt like I could fight the whole world for her if I had to.
I headed toward the stairs, my mind racing. But as I reached the third floor, I froze.
Joe and his gang were standing there, blocking the way.
I didn't say a word. I just kept walking, passing them without a glance. If I spoke, I knew I'd fall right into another one of their traps.
But Joe wasn't done.
"This is only the beginning, Peter," he called after me, his voice dripping with hatred. "You will pay for the pain you've caused her. I promise you will. And oh—don't worry too much about Sarah. You'd better forget about her if you want to survive me. Otherwise, you'll fall."
I stopped for a second, listening to his words. Her? Who is 'her'? I thought, confused.
I searched my mind, trying to figure out who he could be talking about. But nothing came to me. There was no girl in my past who would make someone want to destroy my life like this.
No, I finally decided. He must just hate me because he wants Sarah.
With that, I continued up the stairs, my thoughts spinning. But deep down, I knew—this wasn't over.
Not even close.
Finally, after walking through the school corridors lost in my thoughts, I reached the main hall. My mind was busy thinking about everything that had been happening lately in school, Sarah, Joe, all the drama and the mysterious girl joe claimed to be taking revenge for. I wasn't paying much attention to where I was going, and suddenly—BAM!
I bumped into someone.
It was a senior student, an older girl I didn't know very well. The impact was strong enough that the books she was carrying fell to the ground with a loud thud.
"Oh no, I'm so sorry!" I said quickly, bending down to help her pick them up.
She knelt down too, gathering her books. But then, something completely unexpected happened.
Before I could even stand up, she leaned in—and kissed me.
Not just a small, quick kiss. No, it was a hot, intense kiss, the kind that leaves you frozen in shock.
My brain stopped working. What… just happened?
Before I could say anything, ask any questions, or even react properly, she stood up, gave me a small smile, and walked away like nothing had happened.
I was left standing there, stunned.
Why would she do that? I didn't even know her name! Who kisses a random person out of nowhere like that?
I wanted to run after her, demand an explanation, but before I could move—
"Hey!"
A familiar voice called out. It was Sarah, my girlfriend.
I turned and saw her walking toward me, looking worried.
"Babe, I heard you were suspended," she said, her voice filled with concern. "I can't stay a full week without seeing you."
Her words made my heart sink. I hated that I was going to be away from school, away from her.
"I know," I replied, my voice heavy with disappointment. "But there's nothing I can do. Absolutely nothing. I'm sorry."
Sarah bit her lip, looking even more worried.
"If you're not in school, then I won't be safe. You know that, right, babe?"
I nodded firmly. She was right. With me gone, Joe and his friends might try something stupid.
"Until I'm back, just stay completely away from Joe and his friends, alright?" I said, my voice serious. "I don't know what he wants from me, but soon, I'll find out—and I'll put a stop to everything."
Sarah nodded in agreement.
A few hours later, the school bell rang, signaling the end of the day. Before leaving, Sarah and I spent some… private time together. It was our way of saying goodbye, at least for the week.
Then, it was time to go home.
Back Home.
As soon as I walked through the door, my dad was waiting for me. His face was dark with anger.
"Explain to me why you've been suspended and almost killed someone in a fight, you useless son of your mother!" he shouted.
I swallowed hard. This was going to be a long, painful conversation.
To be continued....
