As I walked down the street, the familiar surroundings seemed to blur together. I was sure this was the street, the one where I'd found the business card. My eyes scanned the storefronts, and then I saw it - the flower shop. I pushed open the door, and a bell above it rang out. The employee looked up, their gaze lingering on me.
I searched the shop, my eyes scouring every inch, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was missing something. The employee's gaze made me feel like a stalker. I asked about Noah, and the employee's expression remained blank. "No one by that name has been here," he said.
I left the shop, feeling defeated. As I walked, my thoughts swirled. Maybe I'd find something at the bakery. The smell of sweet treats wafted through the air as I pushed open the door. Sophie's warm smile greeted me. "Avery! It's been months!"
We chatted, and I noticed the sticky notes on the board. Something felt off. There should be two notes. I stood up, my heart racing. "Sophie, where's the other note?" I asked.
Sophie's expression turned curious. "Oh, you mean the blank one? The boss removed it. I've always wondered why you guys put a blank note up."
My world seemed to freeze. A blank note? What did it mean? I felt a shiver run down my spine as I stared at Sophie, my mind racing with questions.
