Seraphina's POV
We stepped into the darkness.
I gripped Adrian's hand tighter as we walked through what felt like another cave. Behind us, the portal sealed shut with a grinding sound. When I looked back, there was nothing—just solid rock. Ophira and Sebastian were gone.
Adrian's hand tightened around mine as he pulled me forward through the darkness. The cave wasn't long. Soon, sunlight appeared ahead, and we emerged into a massive forest.
I blinked rapidly, letting my eyes adjust as I took in our surroundings. We stood at the edge of a vast forest that stretched endlessly in all directions.
I looked around curiously, taking it all in. Birds chirped in the trees, and the air smelled of pine and earth. The trees, the undergrowth, even the way the sunlight filtered through the canopy.
I clicked my tongue. "This looks almost identical to the forests back home."
"Are we really in the human world?" I asked, turning to Adrian.
