Seraphina's POV
I felt weird. Like, stomach-clenching, pulse-racing weird.
Watching Ophira's hands slide over Adrian's shoulders and arms, something sharp twisted in my chest. My heart started doing this erratic thing—skipping beats, then racing like I'd sprinted uphill.
What was happening to me? Was I having some kind of cardiac episode?
Maybe it was stress. Or altitude sickness. Did we even have altitude here?
The feeling got worse when she pressed closer to him, practically purring about how "divine" his shoulders felt. My stomach churned, and I pressed a hand to my chest, trying to figure out what the hell was happening to my body.
Maybe Adrian wasn't lying when he said he had added a slow-acting poison to my soup.
Before I could convince myself I was dying of seventeen different diseases, Ophira released Adrian and spun towards me.
