Chapter 17 - Immortal Tribulation

The two returned to where Alrin had beheaded Csepel but he was no longer there. All that was left was a trail of blood that they followed towards the town. Once they caught up he was just outside the town but they saw the horrific sight of what Csepel had become.

Long strands of blood were connecting Csepel's floating head to his body as the head was dragging the body around in search of more blood. Blood was also leaking out of every orifice in his head as he was mumbling to himself.

"Immortal Immortal Immortal Immortal Immortal Immortal Immortal Immortal Immortal."

He was mumbling like this even as Vera, Rex, and Edward were fighting him showing he was clearly not sane. Despite this fact he was still pushing the three back since he was still stronger and as he absorbed more blood from the area his strength continued to increase.

Alrin without hesitation dashed into action upon seeing Csepel. He dashed through Vera's flames that were covering the area burning away some of the blood Csepel was trying to draw in. Alrin's goal was to destroy more of his cores to destabilize his blood path foundation and prevent his tribulation from wiping out the rest of the town.

Unfortunately blood had spread everywhere from Csepel's fight with the other three causing Alrin to be detected. Upon seeing him Csepel began to go wild with rage diverting all his attention to him.

"YOU! YOU RUINED EVERYTHING I WAS TO BECOME A PERFECT IMMORTAL AHHHHH." His rage brought back a bit of lucidity just for a moment.

Vera and the others were also surprised to see Alrin alive but now was not the time for that.

Csepel began using all his energy to create as much blood as he could. Quickly blood began gushing out of Csepel's body spreading throughout the area. The blood combined with what he had already gathered washed away any snow and debris that was left in the area an all that remained was a lake of blood that went to their ankles.

Alrin in response summoned his great sword and tried to rush towards Csepel to attack him but the blood lake of blood moved of it's own will and began to attack him.

While Alrin was dealing with that Alara was spreading her petals throughout the battlefield. While doing that she also sent a couple petals over to communicate with Vera. She couldn't communicate normally since the beginnings of a tribulation were taking all the Sencia in the area even going far beyond the town.

"Let Alrin and I handle the rest you guys can rest." Alara's voice was transmitted through the petal a new application of the space path.

"We can still fight." Vera said looking at Alara in the distance.

"ViVi Even from here I can see you guys are drained if you take any more pills your cores will deviate and collapse."

Vera was about to say something else but Edward interrupted, "Vera she's right knowing when to retreat is important."

"Alright but I will immediately join if something happens." Vera comprised in the end.

"Thank the gods I'm fucking tired." Rex said hearing that.

At the same time a Alrin sensed Alara's energy as small petal landed on his ear, "It will just be us two for this the other's have eaten to many pills."

"Alright." He said focusing on the battle in front of him.

Alrin continued to make his way toward Csepel but was still a good distance away after being slowed down by the blood attacks but now Alara would begin her own attack

She began raining down petals onto Csepel to which his blood moved around him forming a shield. Seeing that she chose to make use of Alrin's help, "Cover me." After saying those words to Alrin she began gathering her lotus petals in the sky above.

Csepel instinctively reacted to the threat and tried to use his blood to attack Alara but Alrin retreated to her and was able to deal with the attacks and protect her.

Soon a giant spear was formed in the sky that made Csepel who was the target below it look small. For Alara having another person to help her was truly freeing as it left her free to attack as she pleased.

Alara dropped the lotus spear and it began to quickly descend towards Csepel.

In response the blood the lake of blood began to recede as a giant hand began forming heading into the sky to stop the spear.

In an instant the two collided and a shock wave formed from the collision. These attacks were a display of the peak of mortality as even if they had more cores their strength was limited by the fact that they were at the end of the day still mortal.

"I'm glad Alara's here we would have fucked if she didn't come." Rex said watching the battle.

"Yes, the difficulty of this mission was indeed strange." Vera said pausing to think.

While Alara and Csepel were struggling against each other Alrin made a move with Alara not being in danger of being attacked since the blood had completely receded.

"The tribulation will be here soon focus on killing him don't worry about injuring me I know you saw." Alrin left those words for Alara as he moved. He wanted to prevent the tribulation from starting at all cost because if it reached its peak everything in the vicinity would be destroyed.

Within 10 seconds Alrin arrived in front of Csepel's body he wanted to destroy more cores because as long as he had less than four any type of tribulation was impossible but he was only left frustrated with what he saw had become of him.

The previously distinct cores had vanished and were almost completely gone. When his blood path went wild the spiritual aspect of cultivation overwhelmed the physical and ate away at the cores. They were ate away at by the blood path and fused into the blood almost like a body cultivator but their was no control here. This is why Csepel had kept the blood path sealed. The path of blood was not something mortals should ever embark on as it was a great path. The principles of a great path would easily overwhelm the mind of a mortal and lead them into madness similar to what Csepel is now going through.

In this situation Alrin tried to cut the strands of blood connecting the head and body. Yet the blood connecting the two was far stronger than what he had been using to attack earlier.

The sword was completely unable to cut through the strands as they simply bent around sword and even when he enhanced it with energy it still wasn't even to cut through. If he had the Path Art he chose to come on this mission to attain he would have been able to do better but that was simply his luck. He was just not at the level where he would be useful so he had no choice but to get reckless.

Throughout this Csepel mind was still gone all he did was continue to mumble about immortality completely ignoring him.

At the end of the day Alrin was a body cultivator even if he used weapons they were simply tools to aid him when the situation called for. He was no sword cultivator like Edward so he could never bring out their full potential no matter how great they were but that was not the case for his body. Alrin cultivated the body and to body cultivators paths were unnecessary they would all aim for the peak of cultivation relying on nothing more than the body with no other tricks. Even if Alrin wasn't a completely traditional body cultivator he still pushed his body to the limits using every means he could regardless of the pain or price.

In the distance he looked at Alara who he saw was struggling before grabbing the strands of blood connecting Csepel's head to his body. He grabbed the strands and bit into them using his teeth to tear them apart.

As he bit down the taste was horrid by far the most disgusting thing he had ever tasted in his life and he had eaten rotting meat to live. He endured the taste and felt himself slowly biting through the strands and once he bit through the first one it began reacting violently.

Similar to quills it exploded out inside his mouth and penetrated throughout his body. Some of the blood quills went into his brain, others his heart and more throughout his body some were even sticking out of his body but he was still alive enduring the pain.

As long as his body still had energy in it he would not die and with no poison to disperse his Sencia he was fully able to stay conscious.

Csepel's head saw this and began to immediately attack Alrin but as it did so it weakened its blood handing holding back Alara allowing it to begin descending and it had to stop attacking him.

Alrin continued biting through and another strand was about to give way and once it finally did it reacted the same way as the first.

This process continued until he reached the fifth one as Csepel's blood that was now inside his body began effecting him. He felt the effects of the blood path on his mind but it was still only a hint of madness.

Eventually he got to the penultimate strand his eyes were completely bloodshot as the desire to slaughter was overwhelming his thoughts but he was preserving with his hatred of fiends as his driving force and so he bit through it.

He had finally got to the last strand when a bolt of heavenly lightning struck easily penetrating through Alara's petals and Csepel's blood hand hitting both Alrin and Csepel.

The tribulation had started and Alrin was caught in it.
