Chapter 22 - Spectators

Going back to a few days ago back in the sect a group of elders were joined together watching their disciples embark on their mission. Inside a small room they were looking at a real time recreation of a designated location in the world. It was only able to work on mortals but for immortals to see how their disciples were doing it was an invaluable tool.

"Whats with the kid?" An elder who was Edward's master asked about Alrin. Although his master he was much different he wore bright golden robes and had blond hair and blue eyes.

"My daughter is interested in him got a problem?" Lilith said while drinking.

"Lilith why are you drinking already and Daer was just curious." Rex's master Elaine spoke. She was tall but what stood out about her was the fact that her hair, eyes and robes were a bright red swirled with blue.

"Age truly does not bring wisdom." Vera's master spoke. He took the form of an old man with green eyes and wore a green alchemist robe.

"Ren if don't stop faking it and return to normal I will slap you." Lilith said.

Hearing that Ren coughed and returned to a youthful appearance with but kept the gray hair, "Ahem, Lilith I would appreciate if you were nicer to me."

"Then don't act like a fool." She said shaking her head.

"That kid does looks decent are you gonna take him under you." Ren said about Alrin changing the subject.

"No that girl said she would take responsibility for him so I left it at that." Lilith said referring to Alara.

"Does that mean shes—" Ren started to say something but was interrupted.

"Leave it." Lilith said interrupting.

A few minutes later another elder showed up to watch.

"Silvia?" Elaine asked.

"It's been a while Elaine." She greeted back. She had long silver hair, gray eyes, and white robes.

"I didn't know you were still alive." Ren said

"Ren I think you accepted the wrong disciple." Daer said to him after hearing his comment.

"I'm glad to see you are doing better, now come have a drink with me." Lilith said while Ren was arguing in the background.

The elders began watching their disciples as they went out on the mission to see how they would perform.

For the most part they were only casually observing at least until they saw Csepel appear.

"Who is that disciple?" Silvia asked feeling like she had seen him before.

"He is a new disciple Alrin Sunsetter." Lilith answered.

"Are you just going to leave him to die? Does he have no master?" Silvia questioned.

"No, he will be fine and even if he did die that was simply his fate." Lilith answered

"This makes me feel bad for Alara you really are not the type to coddle anyone." Silva said.

***

"He has finally done it." Daer said watching Edward fully embark on the sword path.

"I hope this does not start another war." Elaine said

"If they were going to do something they would have already." Daer said.

"They are not strong enough to star a war but that does not mean they are too weak to do anything." Lilith said.

***

"Ughh why did I agree to make him my disciple." Elaine said listening to Rex's complaints.

"You sure have it rough." Ren said to her.

"…At least he is making some progress." Silvia said trying to comfort her.

***

"…She truly does not fight like an alchemist" Ren said watching Vera.

"It's never too late to let her switch paths." Daer said to him.

"Don't try to steal other peoples disciples!" Ren angrily replied.

***

"Alara is struggling more than I would have thought." Elaine said.

"It's unfavorable to her but she will make her move soon." Lilith replied

"You were right that power is impressive." Elaine watched the pillars of petals appear.

"Yes but it is not over yet."

***

"He's alive." Silvia said in surprise watching Alrin's body begin to regenerate.

"I told you he would be fine." Lilith said.

***

"Shit he had an immortal talisman." Ren said watching the explosion.

"She won't die from this." Lilith said this but it still hurt her to see Alara in such a bad condition.

"What's Alrin planning to do?" Ren questioned seeing him approach.

"He has to be careful here Alara could easily become a hostage or be killed in this situation." Daer said.

"He got him!" Silvia shouted in joy watching Alrin save Alara.

"That was the best choice." Lilith said watching Alrin grab Alara and take her away.

"How did he manage to destroy his core?" Elaine asked confused.

"Everyone has their secrets." Ren said.

"It looks like he has lost control fortunately it seems like he can no longer use his formation." Elaine said watching Csepel mumble to himself.

"Not good he's gonna force a tribulation." Daer said.

"They need to kill him before it starts if its the physical tribulation first then the whole place could be leveled." Ren said.

"Alrin almost has him." Silvia said.

"Its too late its begun." Lilith said.

"It's the spiritual tribulation first can the fiend even survive it in his current state?" Ren questioned as the youngest.

"We can only wait and see." Lilith said.

"He made it through but he used the forbidden blood path art all they have to do is find him now." Ren said.

"The problem is can they find him do they know about it." Daer said.

"Hmm he sent Alara out does he have some idea?" Ren questioned seeing that decision by Alrin.

"It'll keep the tribulation weaker but if he can't find him it will only make the situation worse." Daer said.

"He found him." Silvia said.

"But he still needs Alara's help." Daer said.

"He's protecting Alar but the power will be quite high now." Elaine said.

"It's over." Lilith said as she watched the two come out unscathed and kill Csepel.

"All in all that was a pretty successful mission." Daer said.

"I agree their are definitely areas that need improvements but they handled an unexpected situation quite well." Elaine Said.

"Maybe I should find a disciple." Silva thought to herself.

Going back to the night they left when no one was watching any longer including the immortals a woman appeared that night. With black hair and crimson eyes wearing violet robes she appeared next to the town under the cover of night. Although their were other Star Sect disciples here she went by completely unnoticed.

She headed towards where Csepel had died but his body and mostly empty space ring had already been taken by Vera so their was nothing left here or so they had thought.

Standing where he had died the woman held out her hand and Csepel's blood that had all seeped into the ground began to rise up flowing to the palm of her hand congealing into a small blood orb. The blood orb contained the energy of all his remaining eight cores since they had previously dissolved into his blood and she planned to later absorb it to catapult herself to becoming an immortal.

Turning to leave she walked a few steps before when a thought entered her head. She stopped turned around and bowed in the direction of where Csepel had died.

"I suppose I should apologize here for setting you up brother, but you sacrifice was a necessary one for me to become an immortal so I thank you. If we meet again I will repay you for the help." Saying this the woman's voice contained no emotion despite having setup her own brother for her benefit. She had been born devoid of emotion and on a whim decided to reach immortality to gain the ability to feel such things. She may come to regret her decision to sacrifice her last relative or she may end up becoming a worse monster once she did but that was something no one would know until it happened.

She had also been the one responsible for everything. She was the fiend who had gotten hurt and escaped, she had left traces leading here so Csepel would be discovered, and she had attacked them on the first night to ensure Alrin and the others would know a fiend was here. She had watched the entire thing from a distance with her shadows and once they had left she had come to retrieve what she came for although it was unfortunate Csepel had lost a core in the battle their was nothing she could do.

As silently as she appeared she had left the only fortunate thing was that her goal had not been to kill Alrin and the rest.
