Chapter 19 - Feeling danger

The church began trembling, mimicking Leon's heart. With quick thinking he left the church and went back to the real world, the instant he entered his real body he rushed to the bathroom and belched into the toilet. Blood was freely running down his nostrils, thousands of screams assaulted his ears almost causing his ear drums to pop.

I overused my spirituality in that world, I should have thought it through!

Leon stood up with shaky legs and walked up to the mirror to take a look at his face. There was nothing unusual other than the blood.

"Im... here..."

On the mirror's surface was a man with short gray hair and a wrinkled face, his eyes burst forth into wriggling worms with human faces. His heart had an opening with two fingers sticking out. Inside an eye was studying Leon. The man walked up to Leon while his "eyes" had wide smiles.

Leon rushed for the door only to find it locked. Suddenly that man exploded into countless pieces and began swirling in the air. It was all over and Leon managed to leave mostly unscathed.

Since it was able to lock the door it was definitely a evil spirit of sorts. But then why did it explode like that?

Leon pondered for a moment and went back to the bathroom. He felt gutsy so he decided to take a short shower, after the shower he put back on the same clothes since he didn't bring a pair... he wasn't expecting any of this to happen.

He began to feel his arms once more and entered cogitation. Soon enough when he was ready he left the room. The first thing Leon spotted was Eli and Charlie standing right outside a door looking shaken, their bodies trembling.

"I-it's in here" Eli stuttered out. The two were completely pale.

The hallway had dropped to a 0 degrees Celsius making it incredibly cold. Everything felt strangely still. Eli and Charlie stood rooted to their spot, standing there for a good thirty seconds before stepping away. Charlie was the first one to speak:

"It has something to do with a high sequence beyonder, a dead high sequence beyonder. The problem is we cant solve this unless we enter the room."

Charlie had used spirit vision and spirit communication to see what was happening inside the room. He couldn't see much but he could spot a spirit, he didn't know whether it was evil or good.

"What now? How do we escape this loop? I mean, we can't contact anyone outside"

Eli stared at Leon and added: "my divination doesn't seem to really work either. But I have a theory, the death of the person inside my might what caused this loop."

Tap, Tap, Tap.

Amos Evans stepped out the elevator and approached them.

"I might have a solution..."

The a door swung open and a woman stepped out of room 507. Leon assumed this was Nellie D'Arcy.

"What is with all this commotion-" her words were caught off as she felt the chill seep into her bones.

"It's nothing, we are just having a conversation, sorry if we were too loud."

Charlie replied to her with a smile and raised his cane slightly.

"You can just go back to sleep..."

The woman shook her head angrily and walked closer. She was only wearing her nightgown so she was padding across the floor barefooted.

"No, to hell with you! You are the same one who woke me and my husband up!"

...

The four men exchanged a knowing look, she had just exposed herself! Either she's incredibly stupid, or maybe she's losing control. Only beyonders could remember the previous loops!

Charlie took a step forwards, he had very pale skin which came from being a corpse Collector. Not only that he had a relatively gloomy appearance. Nellie D'Arcy took a step back and raised a hand to her chest. She had long blonde hair and blue eyes. It took her a bit before she finally realized her mistake, her eyes widened as she looked up at Charlie who was now standing right infront of her.

"I suggest you work with us to solve this case. We will need all the help we can get."

Now with the five of them they had to figure out a escape plan. The whole time Amos Evans didn't mutter one word.

Nellie D'Arcy got dressed in a frilly white dress and sat down with the other four men in the lobby. Charlie took on the role of the group leader since he was an official beyonder, a nighthawk.

"Here is what we know, the loop started at 2AM, the cause is the death of some high sequence beyonder. Only beyonders can remember the previous loops. We know the spirit is in room 518, me and Eli Cooper tried entering but failed, we felt this indescribable fear, that whatever was behind would kill us the instant we saw it."

Nellie D'Arcy raised an eyebrow.

"What if you die? Once the loop breaks, do you get to live."

Charlie went quiet... he killed himself the last loop out of cowardice. Now he was pretending to be some leader.

"Im not sure, I guess we will find out after the end of the loop. We all have families and friends we want to come back to."

Everyone except me. I only have Charlotte and Arthur.

Leon muttered inwardly and leaned back against his seat. He was sitting between Eli and Mr Amos. While Eli listened intently Mr Amos seemed alot more relaxed for the situation they were in.

...

Morris Byrne lit up a candle and wrote down the potion formula for sequence 9 corpse Collector, the church in the village probably had all these ingredients.

We have Black-spotted Frogs on the island, many so called Hunters have come by to capture them. Now I know why.

He got up and with newfound confidence that The Primordial Light was watching him he walked outside and inhaled the fresh air, one problem remained, he still saw flashes of the silent one. Instead of wasting time he Took a brave step forwards and walked towards the main square of the village.

...

Charlie took a step back and exhaled.

"We have to try communicating with the outside, we just have to hope they will be able to somehow break the loop. Specifically the Church of the Evernight Goddess."

Nellie D'Arcy folded her hands over her thighs and said something interesting. "I might be able to do it through some ritualistic magic."

Amos looked at her for a bit and with a smile. "I can help with that, madam."
