Chapter 23 - Warmth

When Nancy and this entity locked gazes something akin to a wave of safety filled her body. Her green eyes flickered, her head lowering as a sign of respect.

"May I know your name?" Nancy didn't wait any longer and questioned this divine figure.

"The Primordial light, that is my name."

"He" clasped his hands infront of "Him" and looked up with closed eyes. Golden tears streaked "His" cheeks.

"I heard your prayer, felt your trouble and answered your prayers. You aren't the only one you know? Child, there is another lost lamb just like you seeking my safety and help."

...

Nancy felt as though countless eyes were prying into her mind, into the deepest parts of her. Her eyes flickered towards the faint mist to see if anyone was watching her.

"Who is he? Where is he?"

The Primordial Light walked down the steps and approached the lost lamb.

"The other one, his name is Morris, a child from east balam."

East balam? Im currently in Feynapotter, this entity can really bring us together even though we have such a huge distance separating us?

Nancy's respect for the god before her grew exponentially. Once again she looked around the church and then back at the Primordial Light.

"Do I... refer to you as my lord? Master? What should I call you?"

The Primordial Light drew a strange sign over "His" torso, "His" fingers moved downwards creating a sort of pillar.

"Call me, Lord of Light when referring to me. Now, Child... I won't be able to help you with everything, I am still in a awakening process. There are other ways I can help, but I won't be able to interfere with the real world, not yet."

...

Nancy didn't lose respect or anything, instead she poured her thoughts out.

"Lord of Light, im part of the fertility order, as you know. Me and teammates were exploring the Central Highland until we came across a small abandoned town. It looked old, perhaps even from the fourth epoch, but when we got close enough... all my teammates started getting pregnant. Thankfully I was in the back and managed to stay out of range, but I watched them all die! They became pregnant and weird baby's with claws came out!"

What the hell?

Leon almost visible cringe as he listened. He knew the world of beyonders was a strange one but he didn't think it was that strange!

The fertility order was a beyonder division under the Church of the Earth Mother, just like the nighthawks were a beyonder division of the Church of the Evernight Goddess.

"Retreat, that's all you can do."

Nancy was only a sequence 9, and a sequence 9 of her pathway had no combat capability. Sure she had physical strength enhancements but that wouldn't do her much good in her situation. She let out a sigh and nodded, she was expecting some sort of blessing or power up, instead she got told to run away, still she didn't judge this god. He couldn't affect the real world.

A blessing would still be good...

Leon hadn't figured out much about this strange church, he didn't understand it's full capabilities yet. So far he could bring his imagination to reality, creating certain scenes and changing his appearance. Other than that he was able to gaze into the sea and gain a single potion formula and a bit of information about Morris. He didn't try this with Nancy because he was still under the effects of trying it with Morris.

"I wish you luck."

Leon slowly stretched his hand and placed it on Nancy's head pretending to give her a blessing before ending the encounter.

...

Morris sat in a bedroom on the second floor of someone's previous home. He looked outside the window noting all the people who turned into monsters of different shapes and sizes.

The sky above was gray, but no clouds, not one.

The church was only twenty meters away, but it was mostly surrounded by former villagers now turned monsters. The only access point Morris had in his mind was a cellar door in the back.

After a bit more debating Morris Left the home with a shotgun slung over his shoulder and a axe holstered away. He walked across the muddy ground with his boots on, the monsters around the church were silent.

Almost everything was silent. Finally he made it around the church and approached the cellar. The cellar was locked by some chains, fortunately they were weak chains.

He raised his arm and split the chains apart. When the chains were gone Morris reached out slowly and opened the Cellar Doors, A bunch of dust rushed out before ot finally stopped.

Alright, let's do this.

Morris had already been here once before when he was six, he sneaked into the cellar just like he did right now. Only when he first sneaked in he was 10 years old and didn't even make it 10 meters inside. Now it was only him...

Sweat began forming on Morris's forehead as he walked downstairs, his eyes soon adjusted to the darkness and infront of him. It was an catacomb. There were a few doors then and there but it was mainly buried people.

Please let the ingredients be here.

There as no other real place where the ingredients could be, not in this village. This church held most power on the island.

Morris approached the first door to his right and took a deep breath before opening the door.

...

Leon had just come back to the white hounds little home base after practicing his pick locking skills as he was now the gangs little thief. Arthur had just recovered, he was still just a normal person because affording beyonder ingredients wasn't an easy thing.

"I'll let you have a look once you've dealt with this little problem, take jason with you."

Charlotte was answering Leon who asked to take a peek at the Hunter potion formula, he could make some extra bucks from it by selling it in a beyonder gathering. The little problem Charlotte spoke of, one of the White hounds members sister was hurt by The East Borough tiger gang. This sister was a street girl just like alot of women in East borough.

Hell they line up the streets like street lamps.

But that was just life in East Borough.

Leon walked downstairs and met up with jason, a tiny man standing at 160 with a thick messy bears and small eyes that were pretty close to eachother.

"Uh, Leon! I've heard you are pretty close to Sim- i mean Charlotte! I won't ask about it since we've got a few people to beat the shit out of."

Unlike Leon jason had a revolver tucked beneath his coat. Leon was expecting to steal a weapon from someone so that he didn't have to spend a bit of his cash. Leon picked up a hat that belonged to someone else from a nearby drawer. He threw on the half top hat and set out with jason to deal with the East Borough Tiger Gang goons.
