The evening rain poured down on Aeloria
Cracked pavements, washing away the neon lights of a city that never seemed to welcome him.
Liam Morris tugged his second-hand jacket tighter around his shoulders as he left the convenience store where he worked. His paycheck barely covered his daily means much less cover his rent.
"Another day… another dollar short," he muttered, fishing coins from his pocket. Not enough for bus fare. He would have to walk.
As he turned the corner, a faint ding echoed in his ears.

Liam froze, He thought he might be going crazy.
"What the hell? Who's there?" He looked around, but only shadows answered.
The voice spoke again, calm and mechanical:

Liam laughed bitterly, thinking the gods must be playing a trick on him, or poverty had shattered his reality. "Yeah, right. He said, Maybe I've finally gone crazy this time."
Liam sighed frustratedly before beginning to walk away, but as he turns his head just across the street, he saw Sophia Quinn—his childhood friend and first crush. She was struggling with an umbrella, her books getting soaked.
On instinct, Liam ran across, shielding her with his jacket.

Sophia blinked, then smiled warmly. "Liam? Oh my god, look at you it's been years!" "how have you been?"

They chatted briefly. When she finally realized how drenched he was, she frowned slightly, looking up at him. "At least let me buy you coffee. It's the least I can do she said smiling warmly."
Liam's pride made him refuse her kind gesture. Instead, he asked her to wait for him for a moment, he then ducked into a nearby coffee shop, and with trembling fingers, bought the cheapest cup of coffee he could find—$1.
He walked back and handed it to her awkwardly.
"Here. We haven't seen each other in a while I wanted to give you a gift before you left."
Sophia's eyes widened. She took it carefully, blushing.
"Thank you, Liam… you've always been so kind, also I really needed some coffee." She laughed.
At that exact moment, the voice returned:

Liam's phone buzzed. Heart pounding, he unlocked it. His eyes widened.
"W-what…?" His balance had jumped by $100.
It was real.
His legs trembled. He almost dropped the phone.
The System wasn't a joke.
And for the first time in years, Liam felt a fire ignite in his chest.
"100x Rebate System…" he whispered, staring at Sophia as she sipped the coffee he got for her.
"If this is real, then Sophia… I'll give you the world."
