Feb opened his eyes on the ground, with a bump on his head. When he looked behind him, he saw a massive door, but it made no sense to him. The wind—he didn't even know where it came from—was tossing his cloak from side to side. As he tried to make sense of the pain in his head, he realized… he couldn't remember his face, his family, or his past.
But the strangeness didn't end there. His body… felt foreign to him.
Everything had happened all at once. That enormous door had slammed shut with an ear-piercing noise. It was as if it would never open again.
He sat under the nearest tree trunk to think and calm himself. Despite having just woken up, he felt like he had been running for hours.
Just as he began to lose himself in thought, something started to fall from above—something that looked like snow but smelled like mold.
He looked up, hoping to see the moon or stars, but all he saw were giant cocoons hanging from the ceiling of the cave.
And those cocoons stirred something in his mind. Maybe a memory from the past, now too distorted to recognize. Or maybe everything that had happened was finally starting to break his mind.
Amid all this strangeness, he suddenly realized how thirsty he was. His mouth was completely dry. He hoped to find something useful in his pocket.
But what he pulled out was an old, worn piece of paper. A single sentence was written on it in elegant handwriting:
"Hfujs öoü"
He was too tired to even think about what it meant. For a moment, he thought about tearing the note apart, but something deep inside whispered that it might be useful.
He put the paper back in his pocket.
