Eli stood opposite the stranger, in the space filled with monster corpses, the fire crackled between them.
'Who are you?"
"I dunno" the man shrugged.
He had blue hair that was obviously dyed, and
She glance at the white robe.
"You're from central bank aren't you?"
"What about it..?" The man sighed, rotating the carcass of the fallen beast.
Most thyxars were dangerous to eat because of the poison they carry, but they were some exceptions.
The man took out a chunk of meat.
"You want some.?" He offered.
Eli glance at the meat.
"No thanks* she declined.
"Suit yourself".
The centre bank doesn't interfere with matters concerning fissure activities.
The fact that an agent of CN was here was quite alarming.
"What does the central bank whant with this fissure?"
"What is your name young girl?" The stranger asked ignoring her initial question.
"I dunno" she grinned.
The stranger smiled.
"I like you.." he picked a strand of meat and tossed it I to his mouth.
"So I'll tell you this for free.." he leaned.
"Have you heard of God's fragment?"
"What..?" Eli asked confused.
God's fragment?, was that some king of monster or place..
"You know.."
"Some could call it forms" he paused.
"What about them?" She asked.
"Whenever a God's fragment gets close to me.."
The stranger stuck his hand into his coat pocket, bringing out a crystal ball that glowed with a bright red.
"This stone lights up" his gaze turned cold.
Eli flinched.
"Now where on earth did you get that kind of power little girl.."
Pressure hit her in an instant, like a firey hot aura being emated from the man in front of him.
She got into her stance pulling out har blade immediately.
"Ha ha, you don't need to be all worked up"
The firey aura subsided and the man returned to his normal calm demeanor.
"On a normal occasion I would've tried to kill you" he stuck a piece of meat in his mouth"
"But that won't be fun will it?."
Beads of sweat appeared on Eli's forehead as she tried to steady herself, the sudden burst of aura disoriented her for a bit.
She glanced at him.
'If this guy what's to kill me'..
She touched her neck.
"I'd already be dead."
The stranger paid no attention to her discomfort, chewing on his meat.
Eli stood watching him until the huge slab of meat was gone.
"Ahhhhh" he stood up.
"You really should hide your aura more" he suggested and began walking away.
"Wait" Eli called out.
He tucked his head to the side.
"What ..?"
"You haven't still answered my question"
"Huh..?"
"You heard me.." Eli stood firm.
"What business does central bank have with this fissure"
Oh that".. he pondered.
"Nothing much, the government wants us to take a look at the place that's all." He shrugged.
"The government.."
This was one of the biggest fissures so it was understandable that the government would try to get their hands on it.
But sending central bank officals to do the work was a bit of an overkill.
The man stretched his hand forward a a wall of flame erupted infront of him.
"I guess my work is done".
"Wait.."
"What now.." the stranger glanced at her with a raised brow.
"What exactly is your job?" Sh said.
"Straight to the point huh.?, you're like auditors, never satisfied with silence..." he shook his head.
"Well I can't tell you that.." he sighed in defeat.
"But..." his smile brightened.
"If you could tell me a bit more about your fragment, then I might just reaveal a bit to you"
He offered.
Eli glanced at him.
"Deal.."
He smiled in response.
"I have the form of wisdom" she spoke.
"Wait hold up" he pulled out a little notebook from his coat pocket.
"Continue" he said excitedly.
The burning flame portal behind him disappeared and he sat down on his stone slab.
He seems to have a thing for fragments.
She had to get information out of him no matter what.
She looked at her hand.
"I do t fully understand it myself but I...."
Eli explained vaguely for the stranger.
"Wow, that's amazing" he glaced at his little notebook.
"May I know your name..?" He asked.
"It's Eli".
"Nice to meet you Eli I'm Light."
He stood up.
"You still haven't answered me.."
"Alright alright".
"Think of it this way" He gestured.
"When a place attracts too many flies, someone has to count the buzz, Wait!, that's not right" light pondered.
"What do you mean" Eli asked.
He taps his temple with two fingers.
"Metaphors, little girl. Relax. You've noticed it to haven't you..?"
She raised a brow.
"This fissure Is swarming, 2000 people swarming it like ants, all green, all desperate." He paused looking above.
"Doesn't that steki you as strange"
Eli was confused even more. He referred the people in the fissure as flies.
There were 2000?, 2000 people in this fissure, that was a lot.
"I don't understand l, what does having two thousand people in the fissure have to do with the goverm–"
Then her eyes widened.
And light smirked.
"It's starting to click in place isn't it.
The question isn't why would the government try to keep an eye on this place, the question was why won't they.
This fissure has the highest concentration of young contactless talents, all young, all fresh, if they could somehow monitor them, they would be able to deterr the true geniuses and scout them.
But how would they be able to keep an eye on the fissure participants?.
"Tell me Eli"
Her thought process was interrupted by light's voice.
"What happens when a rookie show a spark brighter than the rest?, When they resonate a bit too soon?, do you think the cooperations would just let them. Wander Home?".
Eli placed her finger on her parted lips.
"Exactly!, this place, is a test, to see just how strong the current generation of fighters are"
He paused.
"And you?"
"You're all performers... the ones who shine get scouted, the ones who don't..."
He shrugged.
" Well, let's just say the fissure doesn't always spit back what it swallows"
"So you're.... spying on us?"
Light laughed.
"Such an ugly word, I would prefer Recording" he waved it off.
"We officials are just mirrors, reflecting your talent to those who needs to see it"
Light stood up once more.
"Well, it was nice chatting"
The wall of flames appeared once more.
"Wait"
"Sorry I've already been here for too long"
He stepped towards the flame walls.
He looked back.
"Careful how you burn Eli, too bright?, and someone might come to claim it"
By this time the warm gaze of sunlight peeked through the high Canyon walls.
He stepped into the flames and it dissipated into countless fireflies.
Eli was dumbfounded, but she had to think, how would the government spy on them.
They were rarely anyone associatied with the government that possessed such a high scouting ability.
The sun had fully risen bating the surrounding with it's bright orange glow.
By now she was sure Zach would be wondering why she hadn't made it back.
Speaking of Zach, where was he ?.
