Chapter 1 - The Beginning

Alpha Kyle Lance, a good looking man in his late thirties, dressed in a tuxedo, walked out of his estate's gates, and got into a limousine parked right in front of him. His chestnut brown hair, curled forward as he straightened up in the backseat. His almond skin, a physical trait he inherited from his mother complimented his dressing.

He looked out the streets, wondering how many people did and did not like him in the city. He was an Alpha's son, a unique Wolf who never activated his wolf form through killing a human. Rather, he ascended the throne of power by protecting his Pack and it's best interests, eventually announced the Alpha after his father's unfortunate death.

He was a hero to the supernatural community of his city, New Orleans although whispers flew around, discrediting his power for nepotism. He eventually shrugged it off, asking himself

"If they were in my shoes, would they reject this?"

The limousine parked outside a City Hall, a building built specifically for the meetings of the leaders of every recognisable faction of New Orleans.

The human faction being led by Commissioner Nolan Grit of the New Orleans Police Department, a man in his fifties, with a bald head, well trimmed mustache and a protruding belly. Tierney, a French refugee from the 1800s led the vampire faction. Sarah Alube led the Witch faction and finally, Alpha Kyle Lance, the leader of the Wolf faction.

All four leaders met in the centre of the hall, seated around a round, brick table that had lain there for decades.

"Let's get to the order of business, shall we?" Alpha Kyle stated immediately.

"This City needs to ease it rules on my people's feeding" Tierney grunted.

Of course, the vampires had a feeding rule. They only fed on blood bank donations and prisoners, without Killing them. This was easily facilitated by Commissioner Nolan Grit who had access to such things easily.

"There are far pressing needs than yours, Tierney." Sarah Alube replied curtly. A black woman with a slightly above average build. 5 feet and 8 inches tall, she wasn't physically like most women and always had to stand out with her appearance. She also seemed to carry an aura of certainty and confidence around her.

"You called, you said there is something and it involves me. I'm here." Kyle cut in with a grunt.

Nolan coughed then stared into the eyes of the Alpha. He already knew the news to be broken to him and felt the need to inform him.

"There is a prophecy. Tatia, the Soothsayer had a vision again, last night, and it confirms the prophecy." He pauses.

"Son, I know you called it a bluff, but two different witches from different clans can't conjure a tale against you. We have enemies." He utters calmly.

Alpha Kyle for a moment, felt a bit of fear in his heart. Indeed, a southern Witch from Oklahoma had informed their city's council about an impending doom from a prophecy, but they took it with leniency. Now, they believed the gravity behind it to be real.

"So…there is potential Doom, I'm dying first and a True Alpha is born as conspirators try to destroy my city. Sure, sure, I do not have a problem with what you fear for me. However, someone wants my City? They will regret fucking with me!" He roared.

He got up, removing his white handkerchief from his pocket and wiped his arms.

Tierney coincidentally stands up, and smirked.

"You're hot headed, never think, and solely believe in your strength. Give us merely a few days to find a solution for this 'Prophecy, '." He uttered.

Kyle paused. Tierney had been a good friend to him since his childhood.

"I'm patient, as long as it benefits my city, my people. I'm sure you all have businesses to do." He speaks as he turned to leave, leaving the council in a mix of surprise and despair.

Lyla Lance glared surprisingly at the mirror. She remembered being drunk at her birthday party the previous night, thanks to a special drink made by the witches to intoxicate Alphas like her. She looked like she had just woken up on a normal day.

She slipped out of her robe and walked into the bathroom, slowly entering the bathtub as she opened the tap.

She remembered the previous night, her twenty first birthday, she got drunk for the first time, officially. It wasn't like she hadn't previously.

She wished her parents were there to celebrate with her, unfortunately, they were dead, long before she could transform, long before she had her first human kill.

'Her first human kill.'

The thought sent shivers into her brain as flashes of that night from eight years ago replayed in her mind, the faces of the old couple haunting her. She clasped her arms around her ears and settled fully into the bathtub.

After half an hour of bathing, she walked out of her room, dressed in Jean shorts and a vest. It is a warm day, and she planned to spend the aftermath of her twenty first birthday cheerfully.

"Madamoiselle, you're awake." A voice spoke, startling her. She peered left and realised it was her old nanny, Miriam, who was heading for her room with a tray of breakfast.

"I trust you had a lovely night's rest." She added with a cunning chuckle, one Lyla had gotten used to.

"Yes, I did" she smiled, collecting the tray from the older woman and proceeds down the stairs.

"Did Kyle tell you where he was headed?" She yelled with her mouth full.

"The council meeting" was the response she got.

She picked her phone up and began to check her messages.

"Nothing to do." She mumbled, slipping her phone into her pocket and left the house, the dining being a bit of a mess already.

This was Lyla Lance, the second and last child of the previous Alpha of the Crimson Pack. Born to an Alpha, and unlike her brother, her Wolf form activated when she was merely thirteen, granting her the ability to shift into a Wolf during full moons. She, like most Wolves her age, had tomboyish tendencies, living a reckless lifestyle. Knowing she was also an Alpha, her personality practically dared everyone to mess with her and boy, nobody did.

On her way outside the estate, she bumped into her brother

"You definitely saw me." She grumbled, folding her arms.

He merely looked at her, treating her with indifference.

"Happy Birthday." He spoke as he walked across her.

"Treating me like this isn't going to change things." She half yelled, causing him to stop.

"I only care about you, dearest sister. And please, have fun." He responded in a sad tone, the meeting's results still in his head.

"Then why treat me like a child?" She asked.

"Because Lyla, you are a child." He chuckled and proceeded into the house, leaving her to ponder over her thoughts.

"Could it be my past?" She asked as she decided to follow him inside.
