Chapter 39 - Chapter Thirty-Nine: Leaving for Dumbrock

Shanea Palace, 1509

Everyone is preparing their horses to leave for Dumbrock.

Rhaenys approached her father, Arthur, with a curious look on her face. "How long will it take to get to Dumbrock from Shanea Palace?"

Arthur pondered for a moment, calculating the distance in his mind. "It should take us about a week if we travel steadily," he replied.

Rhaenys nodded, eager for the adventure ahead. "What should we expect along the way?"

Arthur smiled. "Expect beautiful landscapes and perhaps some interesting towns to explore."

As they prepared for their journey, Rhaenys felt a surge of excitement. "I can't wait to see the markets and meet new people," she exclaimed, her imagination racing with possibilities.

Rhaenys then asked, "Hey Dad, are you married?"

Arthur says, "Yes, Rhaneys, I am married."

Rhaenys then asks her father, "What's her name?"

Arthur chuckled softly, his eyes twinkling with fondness. "Her name is Mahfiruze, and she has a heart as adventurous as yours."

Rhaenys's curiosity deepened. "What adventures have you had together?" she inquired eagerly, leaning closer to her father, eager to hear stories of distant lands and shared dreams.

Arthur smiled, reminiscing about their travels, each tale painting vivid images of laughter and discovery.

"Do you love her?" says Rhaenys with a curious expression.

Arthur's smile widened as he considered his daughter's question. "Love is a journey in itself, my dear," he replied thoughtfully, "and with Mahfiruze, every moment feels like an adventure waiting to unfold."

Rhaenys leaned in closer, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Wow, Dad, that sounds amazing!" Arthur chuckled, pleased with her enthusiasm.

"Hey Dad, do I have to call Mahfiruze Mom?" Rhaenys asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

Arthur paused, reflecting on the bond they shared, wanting to guide her gently.

"That's entirely up to you, sweetheart," he said softly. "You must feel comfortable and that your relationship with her develops naturally."

Rhaenys nodded, pondering his words, her mind racing with the possibilities of what their future together might hold.

Serephina and her family approached the group, sensing the warmth in the air.

Queen Serephina says to the group, "I wish all of you could stay a while longer."

Arthur then says, "I wish we could. But we have to get to Dumbrock as soon as possible."

"I understand," says Serephina, her expression reflecting her understanding.

Rhaneys then says, "I'm going to miss you, Serephina," giving her a hug at the same time.

Serephina hugged Rhaneys back tightly, her heart heavy with the thought of their parting. "Promise me you'll come back and visit," she whispered, her eyes shining with unshed tears, while the rest of the group nodded in agreement, knowing that their bond would endure despite the distance.

Rhaneys pulled away, wiping a tear from her cheek with a determined smile. "I promise," she replied, her voice steady.

Auraline hugged Rheanys tightly, feeling the weight of their impending separation. "I'm really going to miss you," she said softly, her voice laced with emotion.

Rheanys took a deep breath, feeling the warmth of her friend's embrace. "We'll find a way to stay connected, no matter what," she assured her, glancing around at the group, each face reflecting the same mix of sadness and hope.

Rhaenys hugged the rest of the royal family tightly, her heart heavy with the weight of their impending separation.

Rynlyf stepped forward and hugged Rhaenys tightly. "I'm really going to miss you," he said softly, his voice laced with emotion.

Rhaenys took a deep breath, feeling the warmth of her friend's embrace. "We'll find a way to stay connected, no matter what," she assured him.

As they pulled apart, Rhaenys wiped away a tear that threatened to escape. The bond they shared felt unbreakable, and she knew that even distance couldn't diminish the love and support they had for one another.

Grumpy steps forward and says, "I and my brothers are coming with you, your highness."

Rhaenys looked up in surprise, her heart swelling with gratitude. "Are you sure?" she replied, a mix of excitement and concern in her voice.

"Absolutely, you're not going anywhere without us," Grumpy affirmed, his expression serious yet determined.

Rhaenys smiled, feeling a surge of warmth at their loyalty.

Rhaenys felt a wave of appreciation wash over her as she looked at Grumpy and his brothers. "Thank you all for standing by me," she said sincerely, her voice filled with emotion.

Grumpy then says, "You're welcome."

Arthur then added, "Let's mount up, everyone; we need to get going to Dumbrock." The group quickly prepared, eager for the adventure that lay ahead.

As they mounted their steeds, Rhaenys couldn't shake the excitement bubbling within her. The path to Dumbrock was fraught with uncertainty, but with her loyal companions by her side, she felt ready to face whatever challenges awaited them.

Then they wave goodbye to their friends one more time. Then they make their way out of the palace gates and to Dumbrock.
