Chapter 45 - Chapter Forty-Five: Meet Prince Will Herondale of Alicante

Shadowhunters Camp, 1509

The Shadowhunters camp was a place of refuge and training for young warriors. Nestled within a dense forest, it offered a blend of nature and mystique, with towering trees providing cover from the outside world.

The camp was filled with tents made from durable materials, each serving as a living quarter for the Shadowhunters.

Around a central fire pit, the atmosphere buzzed with camaraderie as the warriors shared stories and strategized their next missions.

Training sessions took place daily, where the young recruits honed their skills in combat and magic.

Elders imparted wisdom, ensuring that the legacy of the Shadowhunters would continue through generations.

The camp was not just a training ground; it was a tight-knit community, united by a common purpose to protect humanity from dark forces.

"Welcome to our camp!" Tessa exclaimed warmly, greeting Arthur and his traveling party.

Arthur turned to Tessa, expressing his gratitude. "Thank you for welcoming us into your camp." "We're truly grateful for your hospitality and support during our stay."

"You're welcome. We are honored to have you here." Says Tessa with a sincere tone.

Rhaenys said, "I agree with my father's opinion. Thank you for letting us stay at your camp, Tessa."

Tessa smiled, her eyes sparkling with kindness. "It's our pleasure," she replied. "Come, let me introduce you to some of my people."

The atmosphere was filled with mutual respect and appreciation as the introductions continued. This exchange marked the beginning of a promising relationship between the two groups.

"Welcome back, Tessa," Clary Fairchild said as she approached the group.

Tessa nodded in acknowledgment, her smile widening. "I'm glad to see you, Clary."

Tessa then says, "Clary, may I introduce to you Arthur, his daughter Rhaenys, and his soldiers."

Clary glanced at each of them, her skepticism increasing. "It's a pleasure to meet you all," she replied warmly, extending her hand to Arthur, who shook it firmly, his demeanor exuding confidence and camaraderie.

Rhaenys smiled brightly. "It's an honor to meet you, Clary."

Clary noticed the genuine warmth in Rhaenys' eyes and felt her skepticism begin to ebb. "Thank you, Rhaenys," she replied, her voice steadying as she took a moment to assess the group, sensing a shared purpose in their presence.

Tessa then says, "Clary, why don't you show Arthur and his travel party to their tents?"

Clary nodded, feeling a sense of responsibility settle over her. "Of course," she said, gesturing for Arthur and his companions to follow her as she led them through the bustling camp, her heart racing with the possibilities that lay ahead.

Rhaenys admired the camp, noting its beauty as she assessed the group around her.

As they walked, Clary pointed out various landmarks, explaining the significance of each one to Arthur and his friends.

Rhaenys walked alongside Clary, absorbing the ambiance of the camp. The vibrant colors of the tents and the lively chatter of the crowd created a unique atmosphere.

As they turned a corner, Rhaenys spotted an unknown man standing near a flickering fire. His presence intrigued her, and she felt a pull to approach him, curiosity igniting within.

Clary noticed Rhaenys' distraction and paused. "Do you know him?" she asked, glancing back at the mysterious figure.

"No," Rhaenys replied softly, "but something about him feels familiar." She took a step closer, drawn by an unexplainable connection.

As she inched forward, the man's gaze met hers, and a flicker of recognition sparked in his eyes.

Rhaenys hesitated for a moment, torn between caution and an overwhelming desire to uncover the truth behind their inexplicable bond.

With her heart racing, she took another step, her curiosity overpowering her reservations. The air around them seemed to thrum with a palpable energy, as if the universe itself was urging her to bridge the gap that had kept them apart for so long.

Tessa approached the group, smiling warmly as she introduced Will to Arthur and Rhaenys.

As they exchanged greetings, Tessa couldn't shake the feeling that this meeting was more than just a casual encounter.

The subtle glances between Rhaenys and Will intrigued Tessa, hinting at deeper connections that awaited exploration.

Will looked at the group with curiosity and asked, "What brings you to our camp?"

Tessa inhaled deeply before replying, "Bandits attacked Arthur and his group. My team and I managed to reach them in time to help. Then a storm was coming in right after the fight. So I offered to let them stay in our camp for the night."

Tessa exchanged a knowing look with Will. "We can't turn down shelter," Will said with a nod, his voice steady, "especially with the weather turning so fierce."

As the wind howled outside, the tension in the air was palpable. Tessa felt a sense of urgency; they needed to prepare the camp for the newcomers and ensure everyone would be safe through the night.

Will then said, "Let's go and make sure the tents are reinforced for the night."

With quick determination, Tessa grabbed extra blankets and lanterns, while Will set about reinforcing the tent's structure against the gusts.

Together, they worked efficiently, their hearts racing with the anticipation of what the night might bring.

A few minutes later, Tessa says, "There we go. Your tents are ready for you and your traveling party, your majesty."

"Thank you, Tessa. My traveling party appreciates it," Arthur said gratefully.

As the wind howled outside, Arthur glanced at the darkening sky.

"Shall we go into our tents and rest for a little while?" Says Arthur with a sincere tone.

The group nodded in agreement, eager to find warmth and comfort before the evening's festivities began. As they settled into their tents, the sound of laughter and distant music began to fill the air, hinting at the magic that awaited them under the stars.
