"Go go go! Operation Blacklight is a go."
As the commander's instructions were heard. I'm rappelling down from the helicopters with my team. We're dropped in a nearby area of an abandoned nuclear power plant that was captured by a terrorist organization. I got into my position and waited for all my team to come down.
"We're leaving; see you soon. Godspeed," say the heli pilots to us.
"Proceed with caution; we still don't know the situations inside. As far as we know, they have full control of everything inside the power plant." Says Captain Hazle. "Moving to phase one."
"Damn, Captain, my team won't be exposed to nuclear waste in the waterways, right?" I asked.
"Just watch the Geiger counter." Captain Hazle answered.
There are four teams that are sent to infiltrate and three entrywaysto the power plant: the main road, the forest, and the waterways. Captain Hazle with Bravo and Charlie teams is storming the main way with local military help. My team, Serpent, is going inside via abandoned waterways nearby. Alpha team is going to infiltrate via the forest route.
"Let's go, team. "Night vision on," I said, leading them to the west of these plains. I have already memorized the map of this area. West of this plain will be a small river that almost dried up. From there we move along the river until we reach the mouth of the waterways.
"This mission is going to be easy, like walking in the park, right?" says Rudy.
"Stay alert, and never underestimate the enemy." I replied.
After five minutes of moving, we reach the small river. Not everything will always go according to the plan. The river water flows a little dangerously, unlike the intelligence report. "Captain, this is Seviper. River water goes high, but we can navigate it."
"Continue according to the plan. Your team is the spearhead of this operation; you cannot fail." Captain Hazle replied.
"Get wet, boys," I said, moving alongside the river.
"I'm getting wet already," says Rudy.
We all jumped into this river, and I quickened our pace to catch up to the plan. After moving for 10 minutes, we encounter the enemy at the mouth of the waterways. Seems like an enemy patrol; only five men wearing light armored gear. They lit a bonfire and had a chat near it.
"Should we take them down?" asks Rudy while aiming his gun toward the enemy.
"Take aim and wait for my mark." I ordered, and I took my gun and took aim at the enemy smoking near the bonfire. "Ready? 3, 2, 1, shot."
The sound of gunshots echoed in the waterways. All five enemies dropped dead; I'm waiting for an enemy response before moving. Who knows, there's more inside the tunnel who heard our gunshots.
"Seems clear, move out." I ordered.
We got out of the river and walked on the maintenance path of the waterways. I ordered Rudy to take point. In our briefing, when we encounter a door with number 5, that's our entry way. I need to communicate with the Alpha team to start jamming all CCTV in here.
"There's door number 5." Rudy slowly opens the door to make sure there are no traps on the door.
"Clear." Rudy gained entry. "Here's the ladder."
I ordered Rudy to go first. He climbs the ladder and opens the steel cover lid. "All clear."
We are still in the basement. Above us is the security control room. I opened my bag and took out a small spy drone to find out what was above us. I'm marking 12 enemies sitting behind the CCTV monitor. Thankfully most of the monitors are blurred because our jammer Alpha team installed it.
"Ready your flashbang." I ordered and tapped Rudy.
Rudy took his flashbang and climbed the stairs slowly. He throws a flashbang inside, and we're breaching this security room. All the enemy inside died from our bullets. I gave the flare gun to Rudy. "Signal the other teams."
Rudy goes outside of the security rooms and shoots the flare. Suddenly our communications are back up. "This is Serpent team; the security room is ours."
"Good job, now strike!" Captain Hazle ordered.
A roar was heard from the main gate of the power plants. Our engineers in my team have taken control of all of their AI machine gun turrets. We use their weapon against them. Alpha team is joining us in intercepting oncoming enemy reinforcements.
This security control room is located near a usable road to reinforce the main gate. I'm joining them mowing down all enemies who rushed to help their comrade in the front game.
A light tank from our side appeared. That's a signal that we must push to phase 3. Eliminate all the enemies and find the room where the leader of this terrorist group is hiding.
"Go, go, go, phase 3!" Captain Hazle ordered.
My team is moving out and started searching all the available hiding spots in here. After breaching so many rooms, Rudy finds where the last remnant of the enemy is. They're boarded up inside an emergency bunker inside one of the worker dormitories.
We're ready to breach in, but Captain Hazle ordered us to wait. After waiting for a long time, Captain Hazle showed up alone. Honestly, I smell something fishy about this.
"Prepare breaching charge," he ordered.
Rudy and I are setting up a breaching charge in the bunker door. I gave Captain Hazle the detonator. "It's yours, sir."
"Thanks, mate," Hazle replied. "Ready to end this terrorist threat and save the world?"
"Ready." My team replied.
Boom!
The doors are breaking and crumbling. Rudy and I enter the room and shoot all the enemies inside. Captain Hazle moves in and reaches a laptop that seems to be a console for something. My team is checking all the body IDs to find their leader.
"Here it's the leader." I said.
"Good boy," Captain Hazle replied. "Sadly, someone needs a tragic end to rise up the ranks."
Captain Hazle shot me in my stomach. A group of unknown soldiers gained entry and shot and killed all of my team. Hazle crouched in front of me as I was dying. "You're my favorite soldiers. I'll let you have the honor to watch with me the world burn."
"It's all a charade." Some soldiers bring the console laptop to Hazle. "All hail the New World!"
Hazle activated the console. "See, this console activates all the defensive nuclear bombs inside major world cities. We need to reduce humanity to help nature stabilize and heal itself."
"How do you want to die? A shot in the head or let you die slowly because you're running out of blood?" Hazle asks.
I am still confused about what is happening. But in my mind, I must kill Hazle. With the last of my strength, I grab my grenade and slowly and secretly pull the pin off. While counting the cook time, I ask Hazle to let me die.
"3, 2, 1." I hug Hazle and bring her down with me.
(It's fine; I'm dying. At least I bring this monster down with me.)
