Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Awakening in Another Body

A strange chill ran through his spine.

Kael gasped, coughing harshly as his lungs struggled to take in air. Every breath felt foreign too small, too light, too... weak.

He blinked slowly.

A canopy of leaves hung above him, sunlight trickling through in golden rays. The scent of damp earth, moss, and something metallic lingered in the air.

> "Where... am I?"

He sat up with effort. His arms frail. His legs numb. His heart beat fast, but it didn't feel like his own. He looked down at his hands: small, pale, trembling. This wasn't his body.

His memories rushed in like fragments of broken glass.

His name had been Alvain Reiger.

He had died in the cold, with no one by his side.

He had accepted death.

And yet...

> "Live, Kael Ardyn."

"This name belongs to you now."

The voice. The Dewi. Her light. Her warmth. Her promise.

Kael gritted his teeth. The tears of the child's body still lingered at the corner of his eyes, even though he didn't remember crying.

He was alive again. In this strange forest. In a world he didn't recognize.

But whose life was this?

Suddenly, a rustling sound echoed nearby.

Footsteps. Heavy. Rushed.

A group of rough-looking men burst into the clearing, armed with blades and crossbows. Their eyes locked onto him immediately.

> "Oi! You there! What're you doing in this area?"

"A kid? Alone? This is beast territory!"

Kael stood up weakly, instinctively raising his hands.

> "I-I don't know where I am. I just"

> Thwack!

A wooden staff slammed into his side, knocking him to the ground.

Pain flared. Real pain. The kind he hadn't felt in a long time.

> "Damn brat! You trying to lure the beasts here with your crying?"

"Check his clothes. Maybe he belongs to the slave traders."

Kael could barely hear them. His mind was spinning.

> "This is… how this world greets me?"

No divine welcome.

No warm embrace.

Just violence. Accusation. Fear.

And yet…

As his fingers touched his side, where pain pulsed, a soft golden glow emerged from his skin. His wound began to heal.

The men recoiled.

> "Magic?"

"Healing?! That's a priest's skill!"

"What the hell is a kid doing with that?!"

Kael stared at his hand.

So… that power remained. Even in this body.

A part of his soul still knew how to heal.

But would that be enough… in a world like this?
