Chapter 3 - I DON'T WANT TO HURT YOU

It was a long journey of twenty hours from the Riverside pack to the Crescent Moon pack. It was so tiring, especially when Alpha Dalton didn't want to take a rest at all.

They had only stopped a few times to use a restroom or to buy some water, but aside from those brief stops, which didn't extend more than three occurrences, they were practically on the road for most of this past twenty hours.

Meera cried for the first two hours, while Dalton just sat next to her. He said nothing and did not even offer any comforting words whatsoever. His blind eyes fixed on the window, though sometimes he would pinch his brows together.

But then, when Meera finally stopped sobbing, as she was too tired and fell asleep, since she didn't sleep at all last night, she woke up with a blanket on her body.

"We will arrive in two hours," Dalton said, when Meera moved her body, since she felt numb from sleeping in the same position for a long time.

And that was all he said, the first and last words before silence ensued between them again.

Meera didn't understand why he treated her like this when he was the one who insisted for her to go with him and be his luna.

It was so dark outside when she woke up, but by the time they arrived at the Crescent Moon pack, the sun was already so bright, the sky was so blue and the day looked so perfect only if Meera was not inside the car with the alpha, who didn't even say a single word to her again.

"Alpha Dalton," Meera called him. Her voice was so rough, she realized her throat was a little bit sore while her stomach was in pain. She was hungry, but her sadness overshadowed all her physical needs.

"Dalton," he said his name, but it sounded like he was grunting instead.

"Dalton," Meera followed his wishes. "I think we need to talk after we arrive at the pack house."

"Hm."

Meera frowned, she was not sure what that meant, did he agree? But, if that was so, why did he immediately jump out of the car, once it stopped, and disappeared, leaving Meera with Collin, who brought her to her bedroom before asking the other pack members to bring her belongings here?

Meera only brought two suitcases with her, thus it only needed a one way trip.

"This is your room, Dalton's room is on the opposite side and if you need anything, you can ask me, this is your phone," Collin said, as he handed her a new cell phone.

The pack house was a three storey house, with the first floor comprising a dining hall, a kitchen, the alpha's office room and their gathering room, the second floor was where the beta and the gamma's families lived, while the top floor was the alpha's floor.

This floor was a little bit… vacant, to say the least, there was not much furniture here, only a single sofa with a table in the living room of this floor and that was it. No pictures, no wall decorations, no television, nothing…

"But, this is not my phone." Meera looked at the cell phone that Collin gave to her. "I want my cell phone back."

Before she left the house, Collin told her to hand over her phone and because she was so distraught, she gave it without question.

And because along the way they were in different cars and Meera was emotionally too exhausted, she didn't think about asking for it back.

Collin looked at her almost apologetically and then told her that she was not allowed to contact anyone back from her pack, because she was part of their pack from now onward.

"What?" Meera couldn't believe what he said. She wanted to say more, but she was at a loss for words. How could they do this to her?

"The alpha wants you to focus on adjusting yourself in your new pack," he said. The beta could understand why Meera looked like she was about to cry, but he couldn't say much about this. He was not allowed to do so.

"Why? Why can't I call my family?" Meera thought about her mother, brothers and sister. And how she left the pack without saying anything to them. "Where is Alpha Dalton?" She looked around her and then at the door in front of her, which was supposed to lead to the alpha's room according to Collin. "Is he inside?"

No, he was not inside the room, she couldn't smell his scent.

Meera had spent almost a day in the car with Dalton earlier, therefore, she couldn't help but remember his woodsy scent. However, this floor was filled with his scent, yet it was fading, which meant, he had not been here for a long time.

"Where is he? I want to talk to him." It was so rare for her to get angry like this, this was not her at all, but in this type of situation, who wouldn't get angry?

"The alpha will see you, but you need to take some rest first, I will ask someone to bring you your breakfast and after that you can use some sleep." Collin tried to calm her down, as he noticed that Meera was about to cry, but her eyes only turned angry by each minute that passed.

"No! I want to talk to him," Meera was being stubborn right now, because she didn't want to be treated like this.

"Ms. Arcane," Collin called her name, as his expression changed to something very serious. "You can't meet with him right now." Collin then reached out for the door knob behind Meera and opened the door for her. "Please."

A tear escaped her eye, as she wiped it roughly with the back of her hand. Her green eyes narrowed at Collin sharply, as if she was about to punch him.

"Don't worry, I will let the alpha know that you want to see him." Collin tried to placate her, but it didn't work. She ignored him completely.
