Chapter 2 - A SIMPLE MISTAKE

It was still dark outside and the sun would appear an hour from now.

Meera loved such quiet mornings. She usually woke up early to enjoy such serene moments. She liked how everything seemed different at this hour.

But, it wouldn't last any longer, because she would leave this place soon.

Everything was in a rush, she didn't even have time to say goodbye to her mother, Liam and Silvana, also William… they would definitely question her disappearance.

The problem was; the Alpha from the Crescent Moon needed to leave soon, because he couldn't leave his pack for a long time and he wanted Meera to go with him right away.

The choice was; the alpha would leave with her or he would make sure nothing was left of this pack.

"Good morning, Alpha Dalton," Meera greeted him, her voice slightly faltering, because she could feel the dominance emanating from him in waves.

He had his back to her, as he looked at the sky that was still so dark through the window.

This would be their first meeting, but even after her greeting, he didn't turn around and look at her. Did her father give her wrong information? From her standpoint, it looked like the alpha didn't want to talk to her.

"Good morning, Alpha Dalton," Obel said, standing behind Meera, as he balled his fists. He wanted to fight this young alpha, but he knew that was not a wise move. He would only jeopardize everything if he aggravated him, though he didn't really like this alpha.

"You can leave Obel," Dalton finally said, but he still had his back facing Meera and Obel. "I want to talk to her alone."

Obel was not in a position where he could reject Dalton's request, though it was his pack and he was the alpha, but the circumstances were not on his side.

He squeezed Meera's shoulder and then walked out of the door, leaving the two of them alone, which made Meera feel even more nervous.

At this moment, all she could think about was those rumors about this man and now she started to wonder what he would do to her and why he wanted her.

Yet, as if Dalton could read Meera's mind, he answered that for her.

"I will put it simple." Dalton's voice was so deep and dark, it complemented his image that people painted him with pretty accurately. "An hour from now, we will head to the Crescent Moon pack. You will be my mate and the luna of my pack. I think your father had already told you about this."

"But, why?" Meera found the courage to ask. "I am not your mate. I can't go with you."

"If you can't go with me, ask your father to pay for my help." Dalton didn't miss a beat when he gave this answer to her. He knew that she would retaliate, but it was only a waste of time. "Pack your things and I will wait for you in the car."

Meera wanted to retort that order, but then all words died on her lips when the alpha turned around and for the first time, she saw his face.

Yet, it was not his face that drew her attention, but his eyes. There was no light in those dark eyes, there was nothing there, because they were blind.

=========================

Meera still couldn't understand how the alpha could be blind when he was the most ferocious being in this realm. He was the strongest shifter as far as she knew, but he was blind…

Did her father know about this?

Meera could easily say this because she had a friend who was also blind. Her eyes were just like his, the way their eyes stared ahead, not focusing on anything, was so different. Therefore, she knew right away that there was something wrong with Alpha Dalton's eyes.

But, she had never heard any rumor about this. If he was blind, people must have heard about it by now. There might have even been a huge uproar.

A blind shifter was so rare and, including Dalton, Meera had only seen two shifters with problems in their eyes.

"Father," Meera called her father, when he helped her to carry her bag. There was not much, because she didn't know what she had to bring along, but Collin, the beta of the Crescent Moon pack, told her to bring only the things that were important to her, because they would provide the rest.

"Meera, I am so sorry, my child," Obel said, his voice brimming with regret, as he put down the bag and hugged her tightly.

Yet, Meera's mind was still reeling with the fact that Alpha Dalton was blind.

"I know, I understood," Meera said in a low voice and then freed herself to look at her father. "Father, did you find anything strange with Alpha Dalton's eyes?" she asked, because she couldn't shake this feeling off.

It would be weird if no one actually knew about this.

"With his eyes?" Obel furrowed his brows. "What is wrong with his eyes?" he didn't understand her question.

However, before Meera could elaborate it further, Collin had appeared at her door and then informed them that they needed to leave now, because the sun was getting high and it would be a long journey back to the east.

It would take around twenty hours by car to reach the Crescent Moon pack, thus they must leave now.

After that, Collin didn't give alone time for Obel and Meera, as he escorted her to the car, where alpha Dalton had been waiting for her inside.

There was no one there, except her father, to see her off and Meera couldn't help but cry silently in his arms, as he hugged her tightly one last time and kept whispering how sorry he was for how this situation turned out.

"We need to leave," Collin reminded them again after he loaded Meera's luggage in the boot of their car.
