She missed her life in her pack, though it was only a few days.
Probably, this was too much to say she was sick because she missed her family, but Meera felt there was something more.
This kind of pain was not only because she missed home. There was something crucial that happened, but she couldn't remember what it was…
Something that she shouldn't forget…
But, what is that?
Meera felt she was under the water and her head was throbbing painfully, as she tried to recall the event.
"Are you awake now?" Collin asked when Meera finally opened her eyes groggily. "Take it easy, you can lay back down for a while. I will call Margie."
Meera wanted to stop him from calling whoever it was, but her head was throbbing so much, yet the pain was pale compared to how her neck felt.
Meera felt someone just shoved hot rod on her neck and all she could do was whimpering softly and lay back down just like he told her to, until the beta appeared again with an old lady beside him.
She touched her neck and she could feel a thick bandage on it.
Was this the cause of her pain? What happened to her? She was trying to remember, but there was nothing that come to her mind.
"Don't touch your bandage, let it be, you will be fine in a few days." An old woman told her, her voice filled with anxiety and this made Meera anxious as well.
After that, Meera could hear this old woman was talking to Collin again.
"She needs to eat and after that, let her take the medicine, if she is still like this, I will call the healer," Margie said, concern was very thick in her voice when she looked at Meera's current condition.
The old lady named Margie checked on Meera once again, she placed her hand on her forehead to feel her temperature.
"She has a mild fever," she mumbled. "But this is expected after what the alpha had done…"
Fever? Sick? Meera heard a shifter could get sick, but it was a very rare occasion, since they had remarkable healing abilities. In simple words, it was not common for a shifter to get sick like this.
"I will get the porridge I have made for you, you have to make sure that you eat it," Margie nagged at her. "Understood?"
Meera could only nod her head, as she looked at her face. It was genuine concern, which reminded her of her mother and that feeling didn't help at all.
"How are you feeling?" Collin dragged a chair near the bed and then looked at her pale face. There was a deep crease between his brows.
Slowly, Meera remembered her last conversation with alpha Dalton about her not eating properly, but she couldn't remember the rest of it or what happened after that. He seemed to say something in response, but she couldn't make out what that was.
"Where is he?" Meera asked Collin, once it was only the two of them. She didn't need to look around, because this bedroom was already very plain, there was no way for Dalton to actually hide behind something in here. "I want to talk to him."
"He is at the training ground," Collin replied, he didn't need an explanation as to who Meera was asking about. "He will return this evening."
"Training ground?" Meera paused for a while when a wave of pain hit her hard. She tried to touch her neck, but Collin kept her hand away from her.
"Don't touch it, it will make you bleed again," Collin said with concern laced in his voice.
"What happened to me?" Meera felt her throat hurting her whenever she spoke and the beta seemed to catch on it, as he poured a glass of water for her.
He also kindly helped Meera to sip on her drink, in order for her to not get chocked. "You don't remember anything." That was not a question, but most likely a statement.
Meera had been trying to remember, but she gave up when the pain on her head and neck was killing her.
Right at that time, Margie stepped into the room, holding a tray in both of her hands.
"You need to eat first and then drink your medicine, only after that you can take rest." Collin stood up when Margie stepped in holding a bowl of porridge for her.
However, before Collin could leave her there, she pulled his sleeve to make him stay.
"I want to know," she said, the smell of the porridge wafted to her nose and she felt nauseated again, at the same time, her head was throbbing again in pain. This feeling seemed would last for longer than she wanted.
"The alpha will come to see you and he will explain everything to you," he replied. "I am not the right person to explain this kind of thing." Collin frowned. He thought it would be best if she could remember it by her own.
On the other hand, Meera looked very fragile, her breathing ragged and to eat a few spoons of porridge was a labor for her.
In the end, Margie let her take some rest, because that was the best for her condition, yet she didn't explain anything, though Meera kept asking.
However, soon she found what Margie and Collin said was right. She needed to take some rest, because once she closed her eyes and the darkness engulfed her, the pain was slightly subsided.
Yet, in her dream, she saw that dull blue eyes, staring at her in pain.
Why he was in so much pain?
========================
"Get some more rest." Dalton rough voice echoed inside this serene room when Meera opened her eyes. They were stung, but the pain in her head was slightly subsided, therefore, she could preserve her conscious state a little bit longer.
Meera didn't follow what Dalton told her to do, she stared at the alpha and fixed her eyes on his blind, soft blue eyes.
