I didn't actually recognize the full name, but the last name… wasn't that Yuri's real last name?
I quickly started flipped through more pages to see if I could find any information on Yuri or his sister… but sadly I couldn't find anything.
"Sigh…" I plopped the folders on the floor of the platform.
"What do I even do?" I said as I placed my head into my hands.
I looked at the folders laying on the ground, and wondered if there were any more of them with information on Yuri.
I painfully got myself off the floor and slowly walked down the short staircase. I reluctantly walked over to the desk in pain, ignoring the scalpel, and started searching through the papers.
"Uuugh!" I moaned in frustration.
There was nothing here of any use, just a bunch of numbers and things I didn't care about. I turned my attention to the computer. I didn't want to use it since the last time I did it didn't go to well, but this one looked different.
As I got a closer look, I realized it had the vitals of whoever was in the pod… well, I sort of knew who was in there but that's not the point.
"Why are all of these so low?" I mumbled out loud as I noticed multiple of his vitals were being tampered with… like they were purposely trying to keep them low?
"This could kill him…"
I looked back at the pod and realized that all the wires connected to him as well as this computer were keeping him in a half dead state. I quickly started moving bars that I didn't quite understand, but I knew they would effect him in some way.
For one, his blood pressure was extremely low, and his heart was only beating around 20 to 30 beats per minute. How was he even alive?
After a bit of tampering, I hurried back over to the pod and the files. I wanted to see if there was anything in there that talked about why they were doing this.
I was rushing a bit too fast for my still healing legs, and ended up tripping on one of the steps and face planting into the stairs causing a loud slam noise.
"Arg!" I groaned as I held my nose.
"My nose-" I looked up and froze. He had opened his eyes.
I quickly got up and jumped back. I didn't know how he would react to seeing me.
He looked back and forth scanning the room, and started pulling his arms apart from each other tearing the chains holding his arms together apart.
I was in so much shock and too scared to move or run away. I just watched in horror as he teared the chains holding him down apart like they were just old withering ropes. He was applying so much force that I could see his wrists and nose starting to bleed, but he didn't seem to care or notice.
After he unshackled himself, he punched the glass, which didn't break it, just created a huge crack-
SMASH! He punched even harder causing the glass to fly by and the water to poor out like a waterfall.
His face was still obscured by something, but I could see his gaze directed at me, and remembered something that caused me to subconsciously start slowly walking backward.
I was probably someone who helped research here, and he knows me… not in a good way.
"I- I" I couldn't speak, I was shaking uncontrollably.
This reminded me of when Yuri kidnapped me and the intense fear I had then, but something was much different here. This guy- Anatoly, he had blood lust in his eyes, and he started walking right towards me.
"T-this is a mis-mis-" I couldn't finish my sentence, and I had just bumped into the wall behind me.
His fists clenched as he got closer, and right when he was about to get into my face, he pulled his arm back as if he was winding up a punch, but paused. He loosened up his hands and quickly grabbed his chest as he slowly fell onto the ground.
He fainted…
I was dumbfounded… I guess it's not surprising since he had really low blood pressure but I wasn't expecting this. I slowly crouched down and moved his head a little… luckily he was still alive.
I got back up and rushed over to the pod to get the files I left on the stairs, it was time to try and find the exit before he woke back up again.
"LYDIA!!!" I heard a loud shout come from the entrance of the room, and turned around to see the one I had punched standing there.
"or… what should I call you?" His eyes narrowed.
He started walking toward me as he remarked that I was just using Lydia's body.
"So, what Xeno are you?" He said as he continued to slowly approach me.
I stumbled up the stairs trying to get as far away from him as I could, and as he saw me do this, he paused.
He looked down at his arm and lifted it up.
"Not going to answer me, huh…"
"I may not have a Xeno, but we have developed something…" He grabbed his right arm as it had slowly started transforming into something… something familiar.
"Much more powerful than what you measly things can create." His arm had fully transformed into the same blade I created when I was fighting that monster… and his arm also had the same purple aura flowing from it.
I don't know if I subconsciously did this, or if the alien did, but my legs had slightly transformed allowing me to stand on them more firmly. I also don't know why they haven't fully healed yet… but at least I can use them for now.
I found my footing and stood up. I have no experience with fighting, but with this, I should be able to dodge his attacks while running for the exit.
"Oh how silly of you to think I would let you escape that easily." He flicked his head the side and snapped his fingers.
The door started closing… how did he know!?
I'm so stupid! I was way too obvious with my intentions… especially because my transformed legs caused some ripping in my pants showing that I was going to run.
"After all, you still have something that belongs to me." He turned his gaze at me.
"How about this… the Xeno gets out of that body, and-" He paused as he started thinking.
"Actually, you have caused too much damage… who knows if she is still alive."
"I just want to kill you now."
"What-" I tried to talk, but had been to late.
He had somehow already run up to me and punched me in the stomach, causing me to fly back right through the rest of the pod and crash into the wall.
"COUGH!" I coughed out blood then fell to the ground.
As shaky as I was, I still pushed myself back up. He was standing on the platform looking at me through the shattered pod. But something was off…
Why did he look worried?
