"Common can you please stop being mad at me", Sami pleaded as he was walking next to Lyra.
Lyra just huffed and looked at as Sami looked downcasted. It's been a day since Lyra got mad at Sami for training without her. Lyra feels it's her responsibility to train him to be a better fighter after Anna left. Though Lyra wouldn't trust Sami with her again.
So training without her, plus learning a new magic without telling her made her aggravated. Though some of the anger is because she wanted to train too. With both on punishment not being able to train openly.
"There, there buffoon, maybe one day your brain may form to be something better than what it is now.", Poke mocked.
Shut it!"Sami growled. Marching ahead to walk in stride with Zoe.
With no one wanting to work with Zoe, Sami was eager to get out of the classroom he was asked to. Of course he brought Lyra along though to his annoyance she decided to bring Poke to balance out the team.
While Sami tries to get along with everyone, Poke makes it so hard. Everytime he sees Sami, Poke always tries to start a fight with him. Sami does his best to get along, but man is it draining.
"We are getting close to the village guys, this is a simple recon mission", Zoe explained. Her soft voice carried on the empty road as they walked."Our job is to talk to the villagers here and look around the farmlands. Apparently the past few days all the surrounding villages close to the academy help provide food as had animals begin to drop dead without any explanation."
"Ugh easy peasy we look around and report back to Mercer quickly", Poke mused.
Sami looked startled before adding,"Let's not make it too quickly. Let's take our time and investigate thoroughly.
"Aww is the dumb clown scared of wittle reading", Poke taunted. His voice in a singsong tone.
Sami didn't reply as he kept quiet walking next to Zoe. Though Sami did hear Lyra snicker in the behind him as Poke and she had a small conversation. Sami though did his best to ignore it as he thought over Onyx.
It's been a week since she's left the mark and he's been worried. After this mission he's definitely going to check on her because she's acting differently. Plus he misses talking to her; it felt like his own mother was back when she was around.
Soon after about five more minutes of walking they made it to the village. Called Willow Creek, named after the founding villagers wife years ago, or at least what Zoe tried to explain as they walked through the village.
The village looked very humble in not so many words. With most of the houses being built of wood. There were a few that looked like stone but overall the place looked kind of run down. With very few children running around, most were adults walking with baskets or tools.
Sami was sorta of listening but kept feeling something in the distance, as if calling his name. Though every time he tried to concentrate on where the feeling was coming from it would quickly just leave. Just reappear a distance away.
In the middle of Zoe talking Sami just stopped moving, as kept focusing on the energy he was sensing. Though he couldn't fully pinpoint it, the energy felt familiar.
Lyra, noticing Sami was keeping up with the group, fell back to see what was up. After calling his name a few times he didn't answer, as the other two came back to see what was up. Lyra touched Sami's shoulder causing him to jump at the sudden contact.
"Are you okay", Lyra asked in concern as she noticed Sami staring off into the distance.
Sami, knocked out of his thoughts, looked at Lyra. "Oh so now she wants to talk to me. I'm honored by your concern young lady", sassed Sami as he did a small bow.
Lyra's face quickly turned to annoyance as she bumped past Sami. Zoe just shook her head as quickly followed to catch up to Lyra to show her where the town's leader house was shown.
"Once a buffon always a buffon.", taunted Poke as he followed behind the girls.
Sami sighed as he was the last to follow. He realized now in his haste not to seem weak he went about answering Lyra in a childish manner. Sami vowed to make it up to her, probably offering a spar. The rules would be damned if he'd listen to the punishment.
Soon the group made it to the end of the village, located close to a cliff with water running down it. The leader's house while still small was bigger than the other ones around Willows Creek.
This house was made out of brick that was laid neatly and it seemed a lot of time was put into it. Compared to the other houses that looked as if it was thrown together last minute.
Zoe, taking charge of the group, pushed open the door going right into the house. Poke and Lyra shared a glance before following. Sami being the odd one out entered last.
Zoe led them through the house to a room with a decently sized table as a couple was sitting there eating.
"Daughter, have you returned from the school already?", The man asked as he glanced at Zoe.
"Daughter?"stated Lyra, her eyebrow raised as she took in the couple.
"Sigh yes these are my parents", Zoe answered as she looked at her dad. "Though they weren't supposed to call me that seeing I sent a message saying I was finally taking on the mission they were asking about."
"Forgive your father, he misses his little girl around", her mother giggled as she rubbed her husband's back.
Poke looked around confused as was taking everything in. "Can we back up for a moment, you're saying we are doing a mission in this village for your parents.", Poke asked for clarification.
"Welp yes, but it wasn't just my parents who for the past week or so has been making complaints about missing animals.", Zoe explained.
Sami just sighed it felt like this was less of a mission and more of a family get together the more tried to explain. Not feeling like being in the room with people, he used his illusion magic to make a clone before disappearing through the floor quickly while no one was looking.
