Leon smirked seeing that the platform used for deflection had cracked. "Shurry, how many more of those can you use now?"
"Huh? Oh uh- I don't know, I never kept track of them since I never had an issue… But, I can use quite a bit more of them… And, a little something else too." Shurry chuckled, as he diverted another one of the Leviathan's tendrils. "You'll see soon. Hurry up and finish that magic thing."
Shurry ran off, diverting the Leviathan's attention from Leon… Or in other words, the ace in the hole, right now there were hardly any adventurers around that were strong enough to deal damage to the Leviathan, and it's for the best that they remain undisturbed for as long as they needed.
The Leviathan, almost had a visible anger mark appear above its eyes. However, even without it, its eyes put on full display just how furious it was with the wolf brat. An insignificant pup that managed to divert its attacks, unheard of, such an insult shouldn't ever be left to stand. And so just like that the taunt was successful.
Now, this meant that Shurry, even with his overly boosted status from all of the things working in his favor, was still only somewhere in the neighborhood of level 5 in all stats except for agility… There, in that single stat he was far faster than any level 5 could even think of going, courtesy of his werewolf transformation. Though, his real status was absolute peak level 2 right now.
Even so, he rounded circles in the air, dodging, and weaving around the tendrils as best he could. Leviathan actually got dizzy after a while and roared out. In its anger it spung around the opposite way with a ferocious speed, and while it did so the tendrils from its head spread out to cover a wide net. It knew how to fight, how to adapt, and everything of the sort.
…
"That, right there, will be my chance to strike." Leon uttered, only for Malik to hear.
Malik didn't need any other information. He left right away, and told the weapon crew exactly when Leon was going to make his move. And then he quickly rushed out to the battle scene and relayed it to the captain of the Poseidon familia.
"Huh? You're serious? You want us to let that boy keep going? He's got to be running out of steam by now. What level even is he?"
"No time for that. If he can't do it, you'll just have to do it too."
"It's almost like you want to kill it." The captain sighed a hard sigh. "Fine, if that'll be what needs to be done, very well. Now we just have to do it."
"Yep, huh, what's he doing now?"
"OUTER MOON!" After calling out the trigger, a moon-like object, maybe just a projection appeared above the center of the battlefield. A serene radiance flooded over the area like a tsunami. Healing all of the adventurers wounds, and weakening all monsters who happened to be bathing in its radiance, and the Leviathan was in the absolute worst position, bathing in basically all of it.
"Never mind, he gave me a far better opportunity." Leon chuckled, and then dawned a deadly serious expression, destroyed his 11th weapon, and formed the twelfth. "Here we go!" He took off like a bolt from a crossbow, leaving the area he pushed off in tatters. He flew across the sky, and like his instincts had felt something else, he stepped on the light, and got another burst of speed, followed by another, and another until he reached his absolute maximum.
Right as his blade reached the Leviathan, Leon spung into his slicing attack, turning it into several nearly horizontal blade strikes, each cutting clean through the Leviathan's neck, turning it into a slinky held together on one side by tearing flesh.
"Damn, I'm still not enough."
The Leviathan, being a monster among monsters, was not dead. Such a wound was not fatal, It still had both its brain and magic stone intact, which meant that regeneration was inevitable. It was also the type of monster that could straight up regrow its head or body if the need arose. However, knowing it was severely injured, it began to retreat.
"NOT TODAY!" Shurry howled as he came spinning head over heels, a pair of platforms guarding his tail as he turned himself into a sawblade. He made contact with the Leviathan's exposed inner flesh. "RAGH!!!!" The soft inner flesh let go, and then the out skin was all that remained, until… The monster's head had been fully cleaved through.
The Leviathan, knowing how horrible the situation was for it not, swam away, both halves making their escape, while a small party went after it for tracking purposes. It wasn't dead by any means, that requires destroying its brain at the very least.
And with that all done, the moon disappeared from the sky, and Shurry fell into the water, completely passed out. Leon swam over, grabbed Shurry, and then went back to the district. And placed him back into Idunn's care. Though she wasn't alone, Legi, opted to follow along with Idunn, she wanted to be there for when Shurry woke up, and thus her pleas were answered.
…
Baldr was listening to the extent of the damages, and sighed. "So, what you're saying is we need to make an early stop over in Orario, because we don't have enough to even ready the weapon a second time, let alone make it-"
"Appologies, Lord Baldr, but if I may speak frankly. We simply don't have the magical reserves left to have the ship continue our normal course. We would wind up stranded, and vulnerable. Let alone a full charge, we'll barely manage to make it back without using all of our reserves. And that's with our first rates acting as additional emergency sources."
"So, recharge and repairs are required."
Poseidon, chuckled. "Well, if that's the case, then just go ahead and return to Melen. I'm sure that Ouranos will understand the situation."
Baldr sighed, and leaned back. "It hasn't even been 2 years since then… Can I really let him go now?"
"Huh? It's been 2 and half years since we last were in Melen?"
"I mean him, we just have to support him as much as we can, for as long as we can."
"Oh, you mean that crazy kid? That was some good fighting he did back there. I have to say, I'm excited to see just how strong he becomes in the future."
