Chapter 49 - C049 : Orario (1)

The next morning Shurry woke up before both Baldr, and Idunn. He stretched in every way he could. I want to fight those big monsters, but I also don't want to miss a single moment by mommy's side… "Mommy-" He laid back down and nuzzled once more.

"Awe, aren't you just adorable, sweety!" Idunn swooned, rising to wake with vigor.

"Mommy, that tickles." Shurry giggled. "Let's go play!"

…

And so, leaving Baldr behind to continue resting, Idunn left with Shurry to explore the city. They walked all over looking at all of the cool shops and restaurants. However, there was a problem, it happened when Shurry wanted to stop and purchase something that caught his eye.

"Mommy! Mommy! What's that book there? It feels weird." He pointed to a book deep inside the shop though it was far off what he was actually looking at.

"I'm sorry son, but that's far too expensive." Idunn said, half wincing in the process.

"But? What about the credits? I have a lot of them don't I? Is it still not enough?"

"Remember how we bought those skewers yesterday?"

"Uhm, nope."

"You were too busy munching down on them weren't you." She giggled. "Well, here, they use a coin based currency system called Valis. If you take a look around you can see it clearly. See that woman paying for a potato popper over there? She's paying with those coins."

"Hmm, Oh, I see now. So our money doesn't work here?"

"Well, not entirely. The Guild will exchange our currency, though it's a really poor rate."

"I know you taught me a lot of things, but money problems just don't make sense to me. Would it not be easier to just have one type, and call it a day?"

"There are some advantages to using coins over our system. But those advantages are really only present here in Orario." Idunn explained. "If you wanted to earn money here, you could enter the dungeon. But we'd have to go to the guild for permission first, since you're not a member of any of the familias that call Orario home."

…

The pair continued their journey, exploring the city. Until it was time to return to the central plaza. Tons of adventurers were present going in, out of the dungeon. Some of the people around were amazonesses, which put Shurry on the absolute highest of alerts. To him, each one of them was scarier than the Leviathan.

"Don't you worry, you're much stronger now. They can't harm you now."

In the Hephaestus Familia shops located in Bable, they looked around at all the weapons for sale. They had enough money to buy a few little bits and bobs, but nothing close to the cost of a grimoire, the thing he had been pointing at earlier.

"Mommy, can we go get something to eat? I'm hungry."

"Pfft, of course. Let's go meet up with daddy."

…

On their way to the large residence owned by the School District, the two of them stopped in front of the gate. Another goddess, wearing a cow mask, and her child, a dark elf were standing there.

"Oh wow! I was right, you're back in the city, Idunn!"

"Hathor, it's good to see you, how've you been? Made any progress on that reverse harem you keep talking about?" Idunn teased.

"Huh? No, there were so few potential candidates that I gave up trying."

"You say that every time." Idunn giggled.

Shurry looked up at Idunn, then at Hathor, and tilted his head, back up to Idunn. "Mommy, is this the lady with the people going on that hunt, the one to kill the big guy?"

"Pfft, he's so precious, where did you find him, Idunn?" Hathor said in a sweet tone.

"About that, I'd rather not say, at least not right now. Besides, there's a couple of things I'd like to discuss with you. Would you like to come inside? I'm sure they've finished setting things up by now."

"Sure, I was actually curious to see the progress of students from your district. And this is my captain, Nernatti. She's level 2."

"It's nice to meet you, Lady Idunn."

"Come on inside."

…

Inside the small mansion were enough rooms to house all of the student's parties as well as a few visitors, and those from the city that Baldr and Idunn took an interest in. Baldr was already hosting someone in the other room, when Shurry's party crashed it.

"Daddy!" Shurry ran in and jumped up into Baldr's quickly readied arms.

"Hey there, did you have fun with mommy today?"

"Yep, but now I'm hungry!"

"Ahahaha! You're quite the interesting boy. With that much energy surely you'll become strong! Yes, I say this, for I am- GANESHA!"

Shurry turned to the side and blinked slowly. "I guess there's all types. But, why does that energy feel familiar?" His eyes widened. And he jumped behind the couch to hide. "You're going to lie to me just like she did aren't you!"

Ganesha, having been filled in on how Baldr found Shurry, relaxed, and cleared his tarot, sitting and calming down. "I'd never manipulate you in such a way. In fact, I'm shocked that she would. I still think it was an accident, but that still doesn't excuse what happened." He said, speaking in a surprisingly refined voice. "I'll admit that I came here today, in hopes of finding someone willing to convert to my familia. I saw you had great potential as a great fit. However, after hearing your history, I would dishonor myself and my kin, if I put you through living in my familia. Far too many amazonesses call it home, and one is my vice-captain."

"Oh my, it must be a truly terrible story."

"Son, go find Leon and get some dinner. We'll join you soon."

Hathor took a seat, with Nernatti standing behind her- "Sorry, but take a seat. What I am going to say is not for the faint of heart." Baldr waited till everyone was seated, and he took a deep breath to calm himself. "I first met Shurry…" And then he began explaining…

Once finished, tears could be seen rolling down from behind the cow mask. "That's horrible."

"Mortal words make it hard to convey the exact situation, so just imagine it worse, until you can't think of anything worse. That's what he went through two years ago."

"Poor thing. I… Would you let me take him into my familia? I'll of course take anyone else who you want to come along, if he has friends?"

"If you can treat him kindly, like I do, then I'm sure he'll be fine with it."
