One moment, there was nothing but darkness. The next, I was standing in the middle of a crowded street, the sounds of city life crashing into my ears like a wave. Cars honked, people chatted, and somewhere nearby, the smell of fresh bread drifted through the air.
'Okay. So it worked.'
I looked down at myself—black boots, dark pants, a long, tattered coat that looked like it belonged in some gothic fantasy. 'Definitely Zeref's body.' I flexed my fingers, feeling the raw power humming beneath my skin. Infinite mana. Infinite energy. And, if that entity hadn't screwed me over, an unrestricted system.
'First things first. Let's check the system.'
I focused, and a translucent blue screen flickered into view.

I swiped through the menus, resisting the urge to grin like an idiot. Every power, every technique from every anime or manga was right there, ready to be unlocked. And with infinite points? I could take whatever I wanted.
But before I went crazy, I needed to figure out where—and when—I was.
'High School DxD. A year before canon starts. So Rias and her peerage are already a thing, but Issei hasn't been killed yet. Good. Plenty of time to prepare.'
First, I needed to make sure I didn't accidentally destroy the world. Zeref's magic was no joke—his curse brought death just by existing. And now, with infinite mana? Yeah, I had to be careful.
'Better start with something simple.'
I scrolled through the system's ability list and picked Haki (One Piece), maxing out Observation, Armament, and Conqueror's in one go. A rush of energy surged through me, and suddenly, I could feel everything—the people around me, their emotions, their movements.
'Okay, that's useful.'
Next, I grabbed Perfect Ki Control (Dragon Ball)—no point in infinite energy if I couldn't use it right. Then, just because I could, I unlocked Bankai (Bleach) and Mangekyō Sharingan (Naruto).
I was about to dive deeper when a voice cut through my thoughts.
"You. You're not human."
I turned. Standing a few feet away was a girl with crimson hair, sharp blue eyes, and an aura that screamed dangerous nobility.
'Well. That didn't take long.'
Rias Gremory.
She was even more striking in person.
I tilted my head slightly. "Depends on your definition of human. But no, not really."
Her eyes narrowed. "Who are you?"
I considered my answer.
'Time to make an impression.'
"Call me Zeref," I said, letting a flicker of dark magic swirl around my fingers. "And I think we might have a lot to talk about."
