Chapter 1 - chapter 1 : the first battle

A tremendous explosion erupted beside a girl adorned in a crisp white shirt and a flowing red skirt, the latter sporting a bold black stripe that accentuated its vibrant hue. The blast reverberated through the air with a force so powerful that it sent shockwaves ricocheting across the ground, narrowly sparing her from injury. While the guttural roar of chaos threatened to overwhelm her senses, a tremor of fear coursed through her, yet she found the strength to steady herself amid the turmoil. "Leo!" she bellowed, her voice breaking through the cacophony. "Defend our flag!" The urgency in her words reverberated in the stillness that followed the explosion, elegantly punctuating the moment with determination.

In the distance, a boy named Leo, who had been gearing up for the skirmish, recognized the gravity of her command. He nodded in acknowledgment, his face set with determination, before he took off in a sprint toward the distant standard that stood defiantly, even in the face of danger.

As Leo raced toward the vibrant flag that billowed aloft in the wind, its white and black hues shimmered brilliantly in the sunlight, symbolizing hope and resilience. He arrived beneath its lofty position just as a resplendent, golden light enveloped both him and the flag, wrapping them in a protective embrace that shielded them from harm.

The girl watched, shaken but resolute, her heart swelling with pride as she directed an affirming nod towards Leo. "Well done! Remain by the flag and guard it!" With that, she dashed off to join her companions who were in immediate peril. It was then that a colossal tail, reminiscent of ten mountains stacked upon one another, suddenly lunged at them, rendering their figures insignificant when juxtaposed with the gargantuan dragon hovering above.

As they lay incapacitated on the ground, Leo's voice rang out from afar, echoing across the battlefield just as the dragon prepared to unleash its fearsome onslaught. Its mighty maw gaped wide, a formidable red orb coalescing within, brimming with the promise of destruction. Then, with a cataclysmic release, the dragon expelled the crimson sphere, which hurtled toward them with blinding intensity, engulfing all in an otherworldly radiance.

When the blinding red glow finally receded, a sharp and commanding voice sliced through the atmosphere like a blade. "The battle has concluded!" The moment the proclamation hung in the air, all the students who had perished in the conflagration were miraculously resurrected as if summoned back from the brink of oblivion.

They lay upon the ground, gasping for breath and taking in the scents of the earth and air. "We achieved victory!" Leo exclaimed softly, elation flooding his voice as joy illuminated his features. "We succeeded; we endured longer than we did before!" His exuberant declaration, rich with the thrill of survival, elicited laughter and warmth from the other students, who gathered around to celebrate their progress.

"Hey, Leo, well done! You really made an effort to protect the flag," remarked a boy gently, giving Leo's shoulder an encouraging pat. "Indeed, I tried, but ultimately it proved futile," Leo replied, the glow of pride in his eyes dimming slightly. "That was on me too; I should have engaged more actively in the team fight. It was unwise of me to hold back," a girl lamented, her voice laced with regret. "It's all right, Lucy; at least we performed better than our previous endeavor," Leo reassured her with a shrug, attempting to lift her spirits.

The boy who had previously patted Leo's shoulder then beamed with delight. "Oh, here come the two lovebirds again," he jested, and laughter erupted among their peers at his teasing comment. "Arise, be quiet!" Leo retorted, his cheeks flushing a deep shade of crimson as he playfully kicked Arise in the stomach, sending him stumbling backward. "I was joking! No need for such hostility!" Arise exclaimed, clutching his abdomen in feigned agony.

"Apologies," Leo muttered, his eyes darting, avoiding eye contact with Arise as he felt embarrassment creeping up his neck. Just as Arise began to craft a witty comeback, an authoritative voice interrupted from nearby. "Students, you all performed admirably on the assessment," Ms. Lilith announced, her tone filled with pride as she surveyed the tired yet triumphant expressions of her class.

"Thank you, Teacher Lilith," Lucy replied softly, her voice mingling with the agreement that echoed among the students as relief washed over them.

"Nonetheless, the next interscholastic conflict is right around the corner, so you must all intensify your training," Lilith urged gently, inspiring a sense of urgency among the group. The students nodded solemnly in understanding as they gradually began to rise and make their way toward the exit, vacating the training area that had witnessed their ordeal.

Only Leo and Lucy lingered behind alongside Teacher Lilith. "Instructor, I heard a new teacher is set to join us. Is that accurate?" Leo inquired, curiosity lighting up his features. "Indeed, a new instructor will soon be arriving," Lilith responded, rubbing her forehead thoughtfully as if the very thought exhausted her. "I can scarcely fathom why that fool is coming to teach."

"Why would you say such a thing, Teacher?" Lucy asked, her brow furrowing in confusion as she glanced between the two adults, while Leo shared her burgeoning curiosity. "Do you know who will be arriving?" Leo pressed with eager anticipation, his voice barely able to contain his enthusiasm. Lucy nodded, her eyes sparkling with intrigue as she leaned in closer, eager to uncover the secret Lilith held.

As Lilith opened her mouth to disclose more, a soft yet teasing voice interrupted her. "Ah, there you are, Lilith-san! Might you direct me to your whereabouts?" The voice belonged to the alluring figure of Sera, who appeared with an air of confidence and mischief. "Sera, what brings you here?" Lilith asked, shifting her attention to her unexpected visitor.

Lucy and Leo bowed their heads toward Sera in respect. "It's a pleasure to see you, Vice Principal," they chorused softly, their voices tinged with reverence. "We shall take our leave," they added as they turned to exit the training ground, allowing Sera and Lilith to engage without interruption. "You certainly evoke a maternal essence to them, don't you?" Sera remarked softly, observing the young students fondly.

"Naturally, they have improved since I last shielded them," Lilith replied, her tone reflecting the pride she felt for her students' growth. "So your husband is to be the new educator, correct?" Lilith continued, her gaze steady on Sera.

"Oh, do not jest! You bear responsibility for not taking the initiative," Sera teased, nudging Lilith playfully with her shoulder, their camaraderie apparent.

"Do be quiet; as if you ever granted me the opportunity to act," Lilith murmured, a hint of resignation creeping into her voice. "Ah, perhaps you are right," Sera acknowledged, a light chuckle escaping her.

In that moment, Lilith leaned closer to Sera, whispering conspiratorially, "But do not assume I have surrendered. I am not alone in my desire for your husband," she declared, her tone shifting to one of possessiveness, as if holding a secret close.

"I am aware; I am not naive," Sera replied with a grin, her eyes glinting mischievously. "Yet I relish the challenge."

Meanwhile, in a realm far below, a man reclined languidly upon the warm sands of the beach, his tousled black hair dancing with the gentle caress of the ocean breeze. Slowly, he opened his eyes, revealing irises that glimmered with a luminous red, a striking contrast to the vivid hues of his surroundings. He surveyed the tranquil expanse of the ocean before him, where the rhythmic waves lapped against the shore like soft whispers. "A pity that this serene existence is drawing to a close," he mused aloud, his deep voice tinged with an undertone of languor and amusement, hinting at the foreboding change that lay ahead. The winds of fate were shifting, and he could feel the pull of destiny tugging at his very being.
