Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Chapter One: I Zap Things. It's Kind of My Thing.

You ever get that feeling where you're not sure if the guy walking beside you is your trainer, your best friend, or just a lunatic with a dream and zero survival instincts?

Yeah. Welcome to my life.

The sun was barely up, but Viridian City was already awake. Golden light spilled across rooftops and Pokémon Center signs, turning the whole place into a postcard someone would send their mom—"Wish you were here! Hope the Beedrill didn't kill you!"

I trotted beside Ash Ketchum, my so-called trainer. Kid had messy hair, a voice that cracked when he got excited, and the kind of optimism that either gets you far in life or electrocuted. Probably both.

People gave us looks. Not because we were famous or anything—we weren't. Yet. But mostly because I wasn't in a Poké Ball. That's kind of unusual, I guess. Most Pokémon just get zapped in and out of those little capsules like it's nothing. Me? I like walking on my own two feet, thank you very much.

And believe me, it hadn't always been this buddy-buddy.

The first time I met Ash, I didn't trust him farther than I could throw a Geodude. I wasn't gonna be tamed, trained, or treated like a prize at a carnival. I'd spent my whole life out in the wild, dodging predators, sparring with Pidgeotto, and learning to control the thunder inside me. I didn't need some rookie with a hat and big dreams trying to "bond."

Then he jumped in front of a flock of Spearow to save me.

And, well...that kind of changes a guy.

I still remember it. The storm, the shrieking, feathers flying like confetti at a very violent birthday party. I was hurt—bad. I could barely move. Then Ash scooped me up, bleeding and panting, and ran like Zapdos was on his tail. He didn't let go. Not even when the rain was pounding and the lightning was falling like the sky was mad at us.

When I woke up in the Pokémon Center, my fur smelled like antiseptic and burnt feathers. Ash was slumped in a chair, snoring like a Snorlax, but even asleep, he had this look—like he was sorry he hadn't done more.

No one had ever risked their life for me. Not once. Not until Ash.

That's when I made my choice.

I wasn't following him because I had to. I followed because I wanted to. That's a big deal for a Pikachu, by the way. We're independent. Proud. Sparky. But I'd found something stronger than pride—loyalty.

So here we were. Me, Ash, and his ridiculous hat. On the road again.

He ducked into the Poké Mart while I stayed glued to his heels. The chime over the door jingled like we'd just entered a magical kingdom of overpriced snacks and emergency antidotes. Ash grabbed potions, Poké Balls, and something that may or may not have been beef jerky. I leapt onto the counter because, let's face it, I like the view from up there.

The old shopkeeper gave me a once-over. "Well, aren't you a loyal little guy."

I didn't zap him, so yeah, that was confirmation.

Ash paid for our stuff and turned to me with that grin again. He had that look—you know, the one that says "We're definitely going to get chased by wild Pokémon again."

"Alright, Pikachu!" he said, eyes shining. "Next stop—Viridian Forest!"

I twitched my tail. Viridian Forest, huh?

Great. Bug-types.

But I nodded anyway. Because that's the thing about journeys. They're rarely safe, usually messy, and almost always worth it.

Especially when you've got someone worth walking beside.

-------------

If you've ever been minding your own business, just trying to enjoy a nice walk after narrowly surviving a Spearow death swarm, and then suddenly hear someone shout your trainer's name like they're auditioning for a soap opera... congrats. You've met Misty.

Ash had just stepped out of the Poké Mart, looking all determined like he was about to win a league he wasn't remotely prepared for, when it happened.

"Ash Ketchum!"

I swear, his shoulders actually sagged. Like his soul tried to exit his body through his shoelaces.

He didn't even need to turn around. "Oh great," he muttered.

Yep, I thought. It's her.

Misty stormed over, all righteous fury and side ponytail. I'll give her this—girl had confidence. You don't walk into a scene like that unless you're sure you're the main character.

"You still owe me a bike, and I'm not letting you get away until you pay me back!"

Classic Misty. Honestly, I was beginning to think the bike was just symbolic at this point.

Ash groaned. "Misty, I told you already, I don't have the money for a new bike!"

She crossed her arms like a gym leader who knew you weren't ready for her badge. "Well, then I guess I'll just have to follow you until you figure out a way to pay me back."

Perfect, I thought. Because what this adventure was really missing was more drama.

Now, don't get me wrong. At first, I couldn't stand her. She was loud, stubborn, and had a voice that could probably shatter Poké Balls. But after that whole Spearow incident? She helped. She actually cared when I was injured. Didn't even mention her bike that time. So... I guess I tolerated her now. Maybe even liked her. A little. Don't quote me.

"Fine," Ash said, defeated. "Do whatever you want, but we're heading to Viridian Forest."

Misty smirked like she'd just beaten a gym leader with a level 5 Magikarp. "Good, because I need to catch some Water-types anyway."

Water-types. In a bug-infested forest.

Yeah. Good luck with that.

The three of us left the city behind and headed into the forest, where the trees got real tall, real fast. Shadows wrapped around the trail like they were trying to keep secrets, and the air smelled like wet leaves, tree bark, and something else—something I didn't like.

I twitched my ears, trying to pinpoint it. I'd walked through plenty of forests before, but this one felt...off. The kind of off that made your fur prickle and your instincts go, Hey buddy, maybe we don't walk into that haunted-looking thicket.

Ash, being Ash, was completely oblivious.

"Alright!" he said, brandishing a Poké Ball like a kid with a slingshot. "Time to catch my first wild Pokémon!"

Misty rolled her eyes so hard I think I heard it. "You do realize that the Pokémon here are mostly Bug-types, right?"

Ash grinned. "So? A Pokémon is a Pokémon!"

Oh boy.

I wasn't even listening to them anymore. There was something in the underbrush. Something... not bug-like. Too quiet. Too smooth. Like it was waiting.

My body went tense. Muscles coiled. Static hummed along my fur.

We weren't alone.

Ash took another step forward—and that's when I heard it.

A rustle. Not wind. Not a Weedle.

Something watching.

And if there's one thing I've learned in my life, it's that when your instincts start screaming?

You listen.

Because the real danger isn't the wild Pokémon you see.

It's the one you don't.

---------------

Let me start by saying I've been zapped by lightning, chased by giant birds, and nearly barbecued by a wild Charmander once.

But nothing—not even Ash's "cooking"—prepared me for what happened in Viridian Forest.

One second, everything was normal: trees rustling, bugs buzzing, Misty complaining, Ash being Ash. The next? It was like someone hit the pause button on the entire universe.

Ash froze mid-step, mouth open like he was about to yell, "Watch out!" Misty had her arms crossed, mid-eye roll, which I guess she's trained into a martial art by now. But neither of them moved. Not even a blink.

Time hadn't just slowed—it gave up.

That's when I felt it. A pressure in the air. Not like a thunderstorm or an angry Onix. This was heavier. Bigger. The kind of presence that makes your fur stand up and your soul seriously consider vacationing somewhere safe, like a nice Poké Ball.

And then he stepped out of the shadows.

Blond hair like spun sunlight, eyes so blue they probably had their own zip code, and an aura that made reality itself act like a shy Bulbasaur. The guy didn't walk so much as glide, his long coat swishing behind him like he was starring in his own slow-motion music video.

But don't let the chill walk fool you. Underneath that laid-back strut was something massive. Cosmic. Like if gravity got bored and decided to become a person.

He stopped a few feet away, hands in his pockets like he wasn't currently defying all laws of physics. His smile wasn't threatening, but it knew things—like the ending to every movie ever and the secret location of every rare candy.

"You can hear me, can't you?" he said.

That's when things got weird. Okay, weirder.

Because I did hear him. Not the way I hear Ash's voice through years of bonding, or Misty's voice through sheer volume. No, this voice landed straight into my brain like it belonged there. No translation needed.

I twitched my ears, trying to play it cool even though my insides were a confused jumble of what, how, and please don't smite me.

"Who… are you?" I asked, which felt like a very brave thing to do for someone who could fit in a backpack.

He smiled wider. "Naruto. Emperor of Mankind. Ruler of galaxies."

And just like that, my brain broke.

I mean, galaxies? I once thought catching a Caterpie was a big deal. This guy apparently managed entire solar systems before breakfast.

I narrowed my eyes. "Why are you here?"

That's when his expression shifted—not scary, not smug. Just... serious. Warm, but heavy. Like a campfire on a night when you know ghosts are listening.

"Because, Pikachu," he said, "you've been chosen. Fate's handed you a path—and whether you like it or not, the world's going to need you."

Great. Just what every small electric mouse wants: cosmic responsibility.

"Why me?" I whispered, feeling that old weight creeping into my chest. "I'm just—"

"—a survivor," he cut in gently. "A protector. A partner. Fate doesn't pick at random. It sees potential."

I didn't know what to say to that. I've always fought to protect Ash, to keep moving forward. But this was bigger than evolution or Gym Badges. This was... legendary.

With a wave of his hand, Naruto summoned a device—sleek, glowing, and definitely not from any region I knew. It shimmered like stardust trapped in a screen.

"This is your connection to the Heroes Chat Group," he said. "A multiversal network of warriors, mentors, and legends. With it, you'll gain allies, knowledge, and the help you'll need."

He held it out to me like it was no big deal. You know. Just the key to a galactic support group.

I stared, then slowly reached out. As my paw touched it, a warmth filled me—not like fire, but like... purpose. Like someone had just opened a door inside me I didn't know was there.

Then Naruto gently tapped two fingers to my forehead. A golden seal glowed briefly in my fur, warm and light, before vanishing.

"I've placed a storage seal on you," he said. "The device will always be with you. No one else can access it."

I blinked. "And if I refuse all this?"

His eyes twinkled. "Then you walk your own path. But let's be honest—you've already taken your first step."

I looked at the phone. Then back at the guy who casually dropped the phrase ruler of galaxies. Then at the forest, which still hadn't un-paused.

I didn't have answers. I barely had questions.

But I knew one thing: my journey just got a whole lot stranger.

 ---------------

You know that feeling when you think you're about to unlock the secrets of the universe... and instead walk into a group chat full of lunatics debating whether or not you're a snack?

Yeah. Pikachu was having that kind of day.

The second his paw tapped the glowing screen, his brain got hit with more data than a Rotom in a power surge. Maps, interfaces, user profiles—all of it downloading straight into his fuzzy little head. He didn't question how. He'd already accepted that reality had taken a sharp left turn off the logic highway.

The device chimed.

"Wait… you're serious?" Pikachu squeaked, tail twitching.

Naruto nodded, utterly unbothered. "Of course I am. You're part of the Heroes Chat Group now. Every newbie gets an initiation mission. Yours is global conquest. Easy stuff."

"PIKA… CHUUUUU!!!"

Lightning shot out like he'd swallowed a thunderstorm and burped vengeance. Naruto took it full-on—blackened hair, slightly smoking cloak—and just laughed.

"Nice. You're ready, Supreme Overlord Pikachu."

Pikachu stared, eyes wide.

This wasn't a group of heroes.

This was a group of problems.

And now?

He was one of them.
