Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Bee__ep, Fiona woke up sluggishly silencing the alarm clock. Looking at the time, her eyes widen. It was her first day in her new school and she was almost late. She hurried into the rest room to take her bath. Coming out she picked up a nice black straight gown with yellow flower on it to put on. She applied a light makeup on her face and ran out of the room to the dinning. "I thought you forgot about today." Mrs Malcolm her mother said looking from her meal to her daughter. Fiona sat as she frown playfully. "Why didn't you wake me up."

"I would have, but you seemed very tired." her mom replied.

Fiona wasn't really listening to her mom but was fucused on the meal. "Mom, the bacen egg taste nice." she said with food in her mouth. Looking up she saw her mother with a sad face. "Mom what's wrong?" she asked with a frown.

Her mother heaved a sigh as she looked from the table to her. "I wish your dad was here, we would have been a complete family." she said as tears ran down her eyes. She patted her hands and wiped her tears away.

"its okay mom. Everything would be fine."

She touched the neckleace on her neck. Her mom gave her when she was young. As she was told, it was a gift from her father and her mom told her to never take it off no matter what. It felt weird, the necklace feels abnormal whenever she touches it.

"Mom, why shouldn't I take this off?" She asked touching the necklace.

"Your father gave the instruction before he died."

"And you never knew why. Why did he die, I mean, you said he was a good man and all…"

"Please Fiona, I think you should get going now you are late."

"Goodbye mom, I have to go." Fiona said standing up from the chair. "see you later mom." she said as she pecked her mom.

"bye dear."

Fiona was the only child. Her dad died before she was born and her mom was left to care for her. She knew her mom was trying to evade the question and it was annoying. Was it not better for her to know the truth. She never knew why, but her mom seem to always be on the look out. it was like someone was after them. She started feeling strange when she clocked the age of five. and her mom made sure she always wore her necklace. she was then banned from going out. Only her friends—Marie and Max were allowed to visit her. She didn't know why and her mom had never gave her a good reason for it. On her thirteenth birthday, her mom relocated. It was strange because that house was theirs so why would they leave their house to a rented apartment.

When she got downstairs that morning, she was shocked to see her mom parking their belongings. She was expecting her mom to wake her up with a birthday song as she had always done but was disappointed.

"Mom what's wrong?" She frowned.

"Nothing dear." Her mom said looking up from the bags she was arranging. "Come dear, we need to talk." She sat an the sofa and Fiona went to sit with her.

"What is it you want to take about mom, and what's with those bags? Are we leaving?" She asked with a frown.

"Calm down Fiona. I know this is sudden I never planed for this. When the right time comes i will tell you everything."

"Is that so, okay. You had never let me go out with my friends anyway and you ensured my school is really close to home. but this, I feel like I'm not part of the family. What is the difference between a prison and this." She said with a small smile and looked around.

"Fiona, it not what you think. I.... "

"Its okay mom, i need to go get my bag. And beside today is my birthday. Just want to let you know if you have forgotten." She said and walked back to her room.

She wasn't happy about leaving, her friends were there and she might not even be able to make new friends in a new environment and a new school. All she knee was that she won't be locked indoor like that anymore. When they came to Gray city, she had to attend a school close to her house. She wasn't really happy but she didn't want to put pressure on her mom. She had tried a lot for her.

She begged her mom to change school at the end of grade 11. Her mom agreed when she found out her friends would be attending the school. Wayland academy was the best in that city and everyone wanted to be admitted. Maybe her mom didn't think they would accept her because she would be her final year in high school but she was accepted along with her friends. Her friends came to her house to celebrate it. It was fun. She had never had much fun like that in her life-before coming here.

Her mom might still be grieved because of her dad's death. The man she didn't get to meet. She didn't even know why her mom decided to stay single after her dad's death. She was still young then and now she is still a beauty.

She walked into the school. School was not really fun for her though because she had never attend any school party—prom because she doesn't have a partner yet and her mom would never let her go.

"Fiona!"

She heard her name behind her.

Before she could turn around, she felt someone hugging her from behind.

"Marie"
