"Will you be my girlfriend?"
The sentence kept on ringing in her head. Why would he want to date her? She was just an average girl with nothing special.
"You are the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. I know you might think I'm not suitable for you but I promise I would always be there for you."
"I don't mean that, you are perfect. I'm the one who isn't suitable. I…"
"That's not what I want to hear. Do you want me to be your life partner?"
"Yes." she said as tears flowed down her eyes. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you." she said with joy and kissed him.

When she got home that day, she thought about it. Was she being impulsive? Did she respond rather too quickly? They had known each other for almost a month now. Maybe it was too early. But what can she say, she liked him and that was it. She don't care what any one says. She smiled as she brought out her drawing pad and started drawing. She kept on drawing and a smile was planted on her face. She was drawing the love of her life. When she was done, she smiled satisfied but something was wrong. She frowned as she brought out the drawing she drew that last time. Why do they look alike? Her eyes widen. Maybe it was just a coincident, she thought as she looked outside the window. The moon was already out and it was full. She felt a connection with the moon but she didn't know why. She had always had a liking for the moon and liked to watch it especially on the full moon. She had gotten a package for Jason, for his birthday tomorrow. She thought about many things and she slept up with a smile on her face.
The next day, she walked into the school happily. Rex didn't pick her up today but she wasn't bothered about it. He called to tell her he wasn't coming to school today. She was earlier than usually because she wanted to give him the gift before a lot of people arrive. She walked into the class and she met Jason and one other guy in her class. Jason was looking at the door as if expecting someone which was weird. What was even more weird, was the smell she was perceiving. It felt familiar but strange. She knew she had never smelt something like that before.
Jason stood up with a widen eyes. She could hear his heart beating against his rib cage. "You?" he said as different emotion passed through his face in a short amount of time.
"What's wrong? Its me, Fiona."
"Yea, you. Sorry for that."
She smiled as she handed over the package to him. "Happy birthday. It might not be much but I hope you manage it."
"Thanks." he said with a smile. Immediately he looked around and looked at her face after. "I don't see Rex anywhere."
Her face redden immediately "He said he isn't coming today."
"What's with that face?" he asked with a mocking face.
"Nothing." she said and she tried to compose herself.
"We are friends right? That's why you gave me this gift."
"Alright, alright. Em….He asked me out, and I said yes." Fiona said as she smiled.
Jason frowned immediately. "Why didn't you agree to date him just like that." he asked with a growl/scowl.
Fiona frowned, what was wrong with him today. Although she knew he never really liked Rex for some reason, he had never opposed her relationship with him like this. "Because I love him." She could feel the anger coming out of him immediately she said that sentence.
"Love?" he scoffed, "What do you know about love anyway." he said as he started walking out of the class. She frowned what was wrong with him? Why was he like this?
Before walking out of the class, Jason looked at her with what looked like a pity look. "It would be better if you stay away from him." he said and walked away. Fiona felt frustrated, she looked around and it dawn on her that the guy she met in class has left look ago. She sighed in relief.
Throughout the class that day, she didn't see Jason. She was frequently looking behind to see if he was going to walk in but he didn't. It was too obvious that the teacher caught her and she had to stand till the end of the class because she couldn't answer the question he asked her.
She was frustrated and spent the whole day in class. She hasn't been to the cafeteria for sometime because she couldn't face Marie. If she couldn't then why now when she was already dating him. Class for the day was over and everyone had gone home except Fiona who was still trying to sort out her thought.
"Fiona." she heard her name and she looked up. She saw Marie walking close to her with Max behind her.
"I know you don't want me being friends with Rex but can you please reason with me. You didn't give me a reasonable reason other than…"
Marie lips quaver as she rushed to hug her. "I'm sorry I yelled at you that day." she said as she sobbed on Fiona's shoulder.
"Shh, don't worry dear, its okay." she patted her back.
After sometime, Marie sat down beside Fiona and smiled at her.
"I heard what happened. Hope you are fine." Fiona asked with a concerned face.
"Yea it is. I was just pained and saw Rex like that—a deciever. Who would have thought he would do that. He was so nice." she said with a pained smile. "But I'm okay now…... What up with you. I notice you and Rex are closer than before. And also how did he save you, I didn't bother to ask then.
"Well… we are in a relationship."
Marie eyes widen when she heard it. Fiona didn't know what she was thinking. Or why her first reaction was that. "Sorry for that, since your heart choose him then its okay. As far as you know what you are doing."
"Thanks, I appreciate."
"So, how did he save you."
"Yea about that, I was almost killed by some men a day to my mom's birthday but he arrived before anything happened."
Max raised an eyebrow from where he was sitting. "Sound strange. How did he know you were there." Max asked with a frown.
"It might be coincidental. You know a lot of people do visit that place."
"And he happened to arrive when you were almost attacked?"
"Max please, she said it was a coincident and beside we can get to know him better and see if he is actually genuine. Right Fiona?"
"Okay. And then you would find out why I accepted him and besides I'm taking him home to introduce him to mom tomorrow."
Max nodded his head and said "Thats nice, at least your mom would know who you are hanging out with."
"Why were you looking down when we came in?" Marie asked.
"Jason was acting weird today."
"How?"
"He strongly opposed my closeness with Rex which he had never done before and I don't know why."
"Well, maybe he has a thing for you." Marie said with a shrug.
"How is that possible? We weren't even that close."
"And you got him a gift."
Fiona frowned on hearing this. How did she know? No one was there when she gave it to him. Oh that boy, she thought.
"Well I heard people talking about it. They said you are trying to lead the two most handsome boys in school on."
"I didn't do that. Besides we are just friends. Not that close though."
"Just be careful, okay."
"Okay, thanks."
"We wanna tell you something." Marie said with a sad face.
"What's that? Don't tell me something bad happened."
"No, I and Marie are travelling and we might never come back again." Max said and Fiona eyes widen and then became normal.
"Is that so?" She said with a pained smile.
"Don't worry, we would communicate regularly. I just need to get my head straight and cool down." Marie said and held her hand. "I'm going to miss you."
"Me too, I would miss you a lot."
Fiona didn't know what to feel. Should she feel okay that her friends were leaving? Maybe it wasn't that bad. She could make do with new friends.
"I need to go now, bye." Fiona said as she took her bag and walked out of the class.
