Chapter 1 - Prologue

This story was made for those who aren't the biggest of fans of Minecraft, which is what my other Genshin Impact fanfic is crossed over with. I'll be updating that story alongside this one.

This is just a short prologue, but hope you enjoy nonetheless.

____________

Alaric was your typical young adult.

After having graduated from high school, he was among the few who ultimately decided to have a year or two break from all the learning and stress that school was. Whether or not he'd choose to continue his studies, he wasn't quite sure.

With already working a job, one that although could be pretty stressful at times, had a rather decent hourly rate that kept him comfortably on his feet. He wasn't quite sure if he really wanted to give it up to continue studying.

Speaking of Alaric, the young man in question could currently be seen sitting casually at his desk, a well-kept setup with a high-end computer he'd bought naturally with his own saved up money. Looking around the room as well, you could tell the kind of person he was.

A number of instruments, posters, and even what looked to be an open closet that, if one looked inside, could tell that it had been reformed into a functioning studio booth. No doubt that he was a musician of some kind, casual or perhaps even part-time working.

The room itself at a base level without the decorations was a typical modern looking bedroom, with dark-grey carpeted floors along with well-painted white walls with a ceiling that matched the colour of the walls.

As for Alaric himself, he looked to be a young man no older than twenty years old, with a slightly pale complexion, though anything but unhealthy. Along with a slim yet athletic physique, which could be seen due to his tight white t-shirt, which was paired with a simple pair of black shorts.

His current clothing, no doubt, was home or sleepwear.

As for physical features, he had a simple head of well-kept short straight black hair and a pair of rather vibrant blue eyes, perhaps hinting at possible foreign blood in his veins. Though, unlike eyes seen on westerners, his were rather sharp.

His room and physical appearance aside, from what could be seen, Alaric looked to be focused as the screen had some kind of DAW open, Digital Audio Workstation for those who may not know the term.

"Hm? You're going to bed?" Alaric's somewhat deep voice sounded as another voice seemed to ring through the headphones on his head. "Yeah, no worries. I'll just finish this last bit up before I go to bed myself."

In response, the voice he was speaking to sounded again.

"I'll have to check my schedule tomorrow, I'll see if I'm free." Alaric seemed to respond to whatever the other voice had said to him. "Alright, have a good sleep, man. I'll give you a call tomorrow if I'm free. See ya."

Stopping his work for a moment, Alaric moved his cursor over to his second monitor where his Discord could be seen on display. Ending the call with his friend, Alaric leaned back in his chair before stretching and letting out a satisfied sigh.

"Actually, how late is it...?" Alaric wondered to himself before glancing at the computer clock. When he saw the time, he couldn't help but give a small whistle. "Damn, it's already almost three in the morning, I really need to get some sleep."

After saving his work, Alaric turned off his computer.

He didn't get on his bed immediately though, instead walking out of his room and heading downstairs. His throat was rather dry, so he figured he may as well get a bottle of water or at least something to drink before he clocked out.

"Fuck, I'm tired..." With a long yawn, Alaric slowly walked down the stairs. 'Thank god I don't have work tomorrow... well, today technically. If I did, honestly think I would've passed out from sleep deprivation while wor-what the?!'

Alaric suddenly almost tripped as his vision seemed to almost pulse in waves of ripples that were accompanied by a sound matching that kind of effect in his head, and fortunately, he managed to catch himself... barely.

Holding his hand over his eyes, Alaric took a few deep breaths before slowly opening his eyes. Blinking a few times, Alaric soon noticed that nothing seemed to change, and that feeling he just felt disappeared.

"The fuck was that?" Alaric muttered as he shook his head. "Maybe I'm just too tired, I need a drink..."

____________

After drinking some water, Alaric wasted no time and headed off to bed.

He had no idea what had happened to him while he was heading down the stairs, but he ultimately decided to brush it off and blame it on his lack of sleep. Sleep deprivation and cause a lot of things, after all.

As Alaric slept, his snores weren't loud, they were very quiet but no doubt present.

He continued to sleep, only stirring when the sunlight started creeping its way through the blinds that covered the windows. The sunlight just so happened to run over his face, causing him his eyes to twitch a few times in response.

"Mm..." With a small groan, Alaric's body shifted a few times before his eyes then slowly began to open up. It took a moment for him to fully become aware, to which he then threw his blanket off before slowly sitting up. "...Ugh."

Alaric sat on the edge of his bed for a moment before finally standing up, immediately stretching his limbs which was then followed by a big yawn. While wiping his eyes, Alaric began walking over to his desk.

"Six in the morning, damn it's early..." Alaric yawned as he checked the time on his phone. 'Hm? Why isn't the internet working? The hell... even my mobile plan doesn't seem to be working.'

With a frown, he had noticed the lack of signal from his wifi, and on top of that even his mobile data seemed to be lacking as well. No matter what he tried, nothing seemed to help, not even the well known method of turning it on and off, truly blasphemous.

"Are we in some kind of internet apocalypse or some shit, with everything that's happened in recent years, I wouldn't even be surprised..." Alaric sighed as he placed his phone back down. "I'll have to see if I can call my ISP later, if my phone works that is."

With yet another yawn, Alaric casually walked over to the window to allow some fresh air into the room, it honestly felt a bit stuffy. Opening the blinds, then sliding the window open, Alaric leaned against the window frame to take in some air.

"Morning air, gotta love it..."

With a rather peaceful expression on his face, he stared out calmly at the scenery below.

That of a beautiful cityscape with buildings made mostly out of wood and built in the style of ancient Chinese architecture, a few civilians walking around getting ready to start the day like any other they've experienced.

Not to mention the beautiful view of the vast blue ocean, one that the city was built along the edges of and made full use of through the rather large docks. The docks looked to have a number of wooden boats, both big and small.

It was strange though, he couldn't quite remember his suburban neighborhood having an ocean next to it, not when it had gone through such a drastic change in architectural design to fit a country thousands of kilometers away from his home.

Not mention the design fitting of that country's ancient past.

Seemingly not having registered the situation, Alaric continued to stare out and take in the ocean breeze as it brushed against him, making his hair sway calmly. Only after a few seconds did he start blinking a few times, his consciousness seemingly starting to catch up.

"...What the fuck?"
