Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

20.01.01

That was the period where everything changed. Our planet Karanga was never the same. In an effort to be kind, we extended our helping hand to the wrong people. We were fascinated by everything they had to offer, the technology, the clothes, the food, and their skin tone. They were different from my people. Their eyes were of different colours almost similar to ours, but they lacked the soul and essence of life that my people had.

They spoke in a language we didn't know, that should have been a red flag, we should have sent them packing, but we didn't we let them in, shared our life with them with pride and happiness. They took pictures , they wrote notes, they took pieces of everything.

When some of them left and a few remained, we thought everything would be okay, nothing special,

but we were wrong. They came back in numbers this time with bigger machines and violence.

They took over everything, forced us into a life we didn't know, and because we had overshared, told them about the life source that made each and everyone of us powerful and strong, they cut the life source of our people, rendering us weak and fragile.

Our people tried so hard to fight back but because of how they were so used to their powers they didnt know what to do without them and that was how hopelessness became a part of my people, fear consumed us like a heavy storm that flooded its surroundings and destroyed the weak roots.

Eventually, our Ndau surrendered and agreed to live in peace and harmony with them, but that agreement was written in blood and betrayal because our people became slaves to the very people we had extended a kind hand to.

The Ndau betrayed us, and he went on to live a lavish, wealthy life while he sold us and played with us as if we were zhess players. All of it became a system, and that system created another system that created many other systems that led to many hardships for my people.

I was born in 23.03.05 a very lucky year, but that didn't matter because our powers, our life source, and the life before had disappeared after being so dormant for so long.

My father was blinded by the riches on the Vetory side of our planet, and he chose to abandon us and sold my mother to a Pindarwa ( the people who took over our planet). My mother, being a single parent, faced so much prejudice from her own people and the Pindarwas. Single parents were a disgrace to our people, especially a woman who had no husband. She was seen as unworthy of any sympathy or benefits from the systems.

Growing up, I was referred to as a Black orphan. Despite having a mother, i was still referred to as an orphan. Once you have that title, it stays with you no matter where you go, and because of that, you are treated worse than a dog. The only way I would get rid of the title was to marry right or even be a concubine to the right powerful man.

That was not of interest to me. Being called a black orphan so many times led to me being immune to the effects of the name. I didn't feel anything as I got used to how things were, and for me, life was just life. But I could see it affected my mom even though she pretended it didn't. If she could, she would have begged my father to stay just for my sake, but I don't think I would have allowed her to do so. He would have murdered us if he had stayed.
