Roland finally left the inn. Although he had agreed to Gabriel's condition, he still didn't believe Gabriel could defeat Pat.

"Wow, Aunt Phoebe, isn't this considered leaking information? Aren't you afraid that Grandpa Roland will scold you?"
Phoebe smirked and looked at Gabriel with a nonchalant expression.
"If I were afraid, I wouldn't be telling you this. I'm just here for entertainment. Once the tournament is over, I'll be taking Rafael to police school. That kid is too mischievous; he needs some discipline. How about it? Want to come along?"
Phoebe's mischievous gaze made Gabriel shiver.
"No thanks, I think Jindu Academy is pretty great."
Gabriel had no interest in police school. If he went there, he'd have no time to pursue his dream of becoming a Pokémon Champion.
"Fine, fine, you don't have to go. But don't look so disgusted. Anyway, I should get going. I'm looking forward to your match against Rafael tomorrow."
Gabriel smiled at Phoebe, his eyes burning with determination.
"This time, I will defeat that Growlithe. Dratini and I will reclaim our honor!"
Phoebe chuckled at Gabriel's eagerness. She hadn't expected him to hold such a grudge. Good thing she had already given Growlithe away—otherwise, she had no doubt Gabriel would challenge her one day.
The next day, Gabriel arrived at the battlefield in high spirits, his Dratini just as eager. Today was the day they would erase their past defeat. The memory of that Growlithe overpowering them was still vivid, and this time, they were determined to win!
Before entering the arena, Gabriel ran into Rafael—the last person he wanted to see.
"Finally, it's our match. I've been looking forward to this."
Rafael's arrogant attitude annoyed Gabriel.
"The sooner I face you, the sooner I can knock you out of the tournament. This time, Dratini and I won't lose so easily to your Growlithe."
With that, Gabriel turned and walked into the arena, eager to begin the battle.
The match started quickly, and Rafael looked at Gabriel seriously.
"I've known about you for a while. My Aunt Phoebe rarely praises anyone, but she spoke highly of you and your Dratini. I've been interested in battling you for a long time. Show me what makes you so special!"
Gabriel released Dratini from its Poké Ball, and the battle began.
"Let's show him what we're made of!"
Rafael didn't reply. Instead, he commanded Growlithe to charge.
Growlithe was a brave Pokémon, never holding back against opponents. Even though Dratini had improved significantly through training, Rafael's Growlithe, trained by Pheobe, was no pushover.
"Dratini, use Agility to create distance. Don't let Growlithe get close!"
"Growlithe, don't let them escape! Close the gap and charge in!"
Although Dratini used Agility to widen the gap, Rafael's Growlithe also sped up, using Agility as well. Growlithe was clearly faster, closing the distance rapidly.
"Growlithe, use Fire Fang! Don't let them get away!"

"Dratini, use Dragon Rage! Show Growlithe our power!"
Blue flames erupted from Dratini's mouth, intercepting Growlithe's attack and forcing it to dodge.
"Dratini, use Dragon Tail to knock Growlithe away! Don't let it get too close!"
Dratini took advantage of Growlithe's dodge, swinging its tail toward its opponent.
"Growlithe, use Protect!"
A faint light enveloped Growlithe, blocking Dratini's attack with a protective shield.
"Dratini, now! Use Wrap! Don't let Growlithe escape!"
Dratini coiled tightly around Growlithe, restraining its movement.
"Growlithe, use Flame Wheel!"
Gabriel smirked. That move wouldn't work this time!
"Dratini, use Thunder Wave! Stop its attack!"
Wait—at this range, both Pokémon would be affected. Was Gabriel really willing to risk it?
"Growlithe, hold on!"
Rafael had no other options but to hope Growlithe could endure it.
Electricity surged, enveloping both Pokémon. Growlithe, unable to move due to Dratini's tight grip, took the full force of Thunder Wave and became paralyzed.
Rafael watched anxiously. He knew Dratini would also be affected, but at this point, he could only hope Growlithe would outlast it.
Indeed, Dratini also suffered from paralysis, but unlike Growlithe, it had trained against paralysis effects before. Dratini had built resistance, whereas Growlithe struggled to move.
Growlithe, unable to break free from Wrap, endured the effects of Thunder Wave before the move finally ended. It stumbled back, its body stiff from paralysis.

Rafael's protests were in vain. Dratini had already risen, swinging its powerful Dragon Tail at Growlithe.

Dratini's tail struck Growlithe hard, launching it into the air. Before Gabriel could give another command, Dratini instinctively unleashed Dragon Rage, sending a blue flame shooting toward Growlithe mid-air.
The attack landed. Growlithe crashed to the ground, unconscious.
