Roland gazed at Gabriel with a mix of admiration and astonishment. He hadn't expected him to actually defeat Pat in the end. Even though he had relied on Dynamax energy, the fact remained—he had defeated a disciple of an Elite Four member.
"Kid, are you still planning to enroll in Jindu Academy?"
Roland looked at Gabriel with a hint of regret. Given the strength Gabriel had demonstrated, securing a spot at Jindu Academy would be effortless. That was why Roland had boldly attempted to persuade him to stay. But now that Gabriel had become the Champion, even if Roland wanted to retain him, it might no longer be possible.
At this point, Gabriel had already caught the attention of top-tier universities. Competing with them for Gabriel's enrollment would be a long shot for Jindu Academy.
However, Gabriel simply gave Roland a puzzled look.
What was this old man trying to say? Was he trying to back out of their agreement?
There was no way Gabriel would allow that. If not for anything else, he at least had to hold Roland to his word for the Rotom he was promised.
"Dean Roland, of course, I'm going to Jindu Academy. Besides, you still owe me a favor."
Roland's grin widened. As long as Gabriel was staying, a single favor was nothing—he'd even be willing to grant him two more.
Gabriel didn't linger in conversation with Roland for long. Instead, he headed straight for the Jindu Gym—he wanted to see Everette.
At the entrance of the Jindu Gym, a rather impoverished-looking Vespiquen was hunched over, licking an Pockyblocks.
"Mu!" (So delicious!)
"Vespiquen, it's been a while."
Gabriel reached out and patted Vespiquen's body. The Monster/Beast (Pokémon) didn't mind at all—it recognized Gabriel as the person who always brought them food.
"Is Everette here?"
"Mu mu." (Inside.)
"Alright, I'll go find him."
Gabriel nodded and walked into the Jindu Gym, with Vespiquen dispatching a Combee to guide the way.
Seeing the small Combee in front of him, Gabriel couldn't help but feel envious.
Everette had truly mastered training Vespiquen—it was like raising an entire army. A single Vespiquen was stronger than six individual Pokémon!
The Combee led Gabriel to Everette, who was in a laboratory, analyzing a peculiar mineral.
Gabriel could sense the energy emanating from the rock. Without needing an explanation, he already knew—it contained Dynamax energy.
"Where did this mineral come from? How does it contain Dynamax energy?"
Everette turned his head, still handling the mineral as he explained.
"This came from the west. It's a rather unique type of mineral—it can store Dynamax energy and retain it for extended periods. Isn't that fascinating?"
Gabriel studied the mineral in Everette's hand. A stone that could store Dynamax energy? That was certainly rare.
"I won the Champion title in the Beast Tamer exam, did you know?"
Everette nodded, smiling at him.
"How could I not? Dynamax Dratini's battle was all over the news today—it's being broadcasted on nearly every media outlet."
Gabriel scratched his head. He wasn't surprised—when Dynamax Dratini appeared on the battlefield, the audience had been terrified. It had taken Roland's reassurance to calm them down so the match could proceed normally.
But today, Gabriel had a more important matter to discuss with Everette.
"Stop staying at the Jindu Gym. Come with me to Jindu Academy."
"Huh?"
Gabriel shook his head in exasperation.
"After winning the championship, I decided to join Jindu Academy."
"Why Jindu Academy? Now that you're the Champion, you have so many other choices."
Everette looked at Gabriel in confusion. With his achievements, Gabriel could easily enroll in top-tier national academies like Kyoto Academy or Magic Capital Academy. Jindu Academy couldn't compare to them, so why would he choose it?
"For one, convenience. And two, Dean Roland made me a promise—if I joined, I could bring you along."
"Bring me along? Why?"
Everette grew even more perplexed, wanting a proper explanation.
"Roland said you're currently the only person researching Dynamax energy. If you join Jindu Academy, they'll provide funding to support your research. And I want Dratini to master Dynamax energy more completely."
Gabriel glanced at Dratini's Monster/Beast Ball (Poké Ball). The little Dratini was so exhausted from battle that it didn't even have the strength to emerge.
"If I can fully grasp Dynamax energy, my battle against Pat wouldn't have been so difficult."
Gabriel looked at Everette with unwavering determination.
"I have high hopes for Dynamax energy. If we can truly harness it, it could bring a massive shift to the world. This is a power that can change everything."
Everette was stunned. Even as someone researching Dynamax energy, he hadn't regarded it with such high expectations. The energy had too many flaws and was far from being viable for widespread implementation.
"You really believe that much in Dynamax energy?"
"Of course. This is a force that can change the world."
Gabriel understood Dynamax energy all too well—after all, he had used it hundreds of times in the games.
"So stop wasting time at the Jindu Gym. Come to Jindu Academy with me. There, you'll receive proper funding for your research. It's way better than struggling to finance everything with your own salary."
Everette pondered for a moment before finally nodding. The offer was too enticing to refuse.

Meanwhile, at Infinite Energy Corporation, Antonio was staring at his phone, torn between laughter and tears.
"The Champion of Jindu summons a terrifying giant beast and crushes his opponent to claim the throne!"
The news article even featured an image of Dratini in its Dynamax form.
Seeing the report, Antonio felt a whirlwind of emotions. Initially, he hadn't wanted Gabriel to become a Beast Tamer at all. But his son had been resolute and even made a bet with him.
Now, it was clear that Gabriel had an undeniable talent for being a Beast Tamer. But if that was the case… who would inherit the family business?
Would he have to have another child?
Unbeknownst to him, far away at his villa, Gabriel was completely oblivious to his father's concerns. He was simply enjoying some well-earned relaxation with Dratini. After claiming the championship, he had no immediate goals, and Dratini had no motivation to train.
Gabriel didn't push Dratini. After all, the little Dratini had worked incredibly hard for the title.
Instead, he had found a new source of amusement—the Farfetch'd he had rescued.
"Are you absolutely sure you're not mistaken?"
Gabriel looked at Elle with skepticism.
"Yes. As unbelievable as it seems, this Farfetch'd possesses Psychic-type potential."
Elle, too, was staring in shock at the Farfetch'd, which was casually reading a novel on the ground.
"The reason it can understand written language… is because of its latent psychic abilities."
