Chapter 1 - Pt.1:[Their Private Marriage] PROLOGUE: The General’s Fall

Somewhere in the prosperous land of a democratic monarch and the free-growing country of Avalon Kingdom, people lived peacefully and harmoniously as they did their daily routines. But whenever the night calls for some darkness, everything is no exception.

'Master Sergeant, it's confirmed. They have been storing illegal firearms in here.'

Deep in the night, somewhere in the city of Maestropolitan, there was an abandoned property with a warehouse that was supposed to be filled with dust and rust, but clearly, that was not the case. The warehouse was filled with smuggled illegal firearms that had been on the military's radar for quite some time already.

'Check around if there's more.'

'Roger that.'

The soldiers in dark military combat suits carefully sneaked further inside the warehouse in stealth mode. In batches, they were scattered to check every container, cargo, and some boxes stored carefully in their designated places. Everyone confirmed the tip they had received and quickly reported to their chief in command, the commander in charge.

'General, affirmative, smuggled illegal firearms were here. What should we do now?'

'Secure the entire area. We're coming in.'

'Roger.'

But something went off. Something bad happened that caused the eruption of noises from a group firing guns and cannons. It echoed throughout the abandoned property, turning it into a ruined land as it became a battlefield. Military troops and terrorists exchanged shots, and blood scattered across the land, as none of them intended to back down until a backup appeared. A lady soldier appeared and joined the battlefield, turning the table in their favor. With astounding skills, she moved like a whirlwind as she fired either her guns or threw her knives, which accurately killed her targets. She never missed, which put her in a commanding position at a very young age in the top star elite special force as a general.

'General.'

'Don't be surprised, Master Sergeant. You know how I work.'

'But…'

'This is a trap.'

'What? By whom?'

'I wasn't sure, but do not trust anyone easily. It's an inside job.'

'But how? Why?'

'I think it was targeting me because of what I have.'

'General…'

'Listen here, Master Sergeant, listen carefully: whatever happens to me, don't trust anyone. Tell Sergeant Major the same thing, and don't let them get suspicious of you two until you retire or are relieved from the service. Be safe.'

'General, are you going to kill yourself?'

'I'm not that stupid for a suicide mission, but to clear my hunch and to catch a glimpse of the traitor, I have to play the victim game. Also, Master Sergeant, I left a letter for the two of you. Make sure no one reads it but you. Are we clear?'

'Understood, General.'

'Leave as soon as they begin targeting me.'

'But General…'

'That's an order, Master Sergeant. Leave. NOW!'

At the lady general's exact words, a strong explosion happened. Smashed stones and metals scattered around, causing a fatal wound on the general's right side of her forehead down to the corner of her eyes. It was a deep cut while a sharp object stuck on her arm and leg, preventing her from moving further, and making her weak. Luckily, she was separated from her team until she heard footsteps and two shadows emerged.

'Well, well, I finally caught you.'

'I see…it was you all along…'

'Always the clever general, but not for long. Goodbye, my dear general. See you in the afterlife.'

'Don't worry, I will.'

The lady general woke up instantly when she felt freezing water splashed over her body. Her weakening body shivered from the contact, but before she could fully open her eyes, four pairs of sinister eyes turned dark and began beating her up once more. Days and nights turned to weeks to months, and now it has been two years passed ever since she was locked up and tortured to death; however, she was different. No one could ever survive that long at the strictest prison in the Avalon Kingdom, the Black Tower Prison, could ever give.

But at that moment, her body was already giving a sign of nearing death, and with one strong hit, a bright light blinded the lady general. Her sight slowly got blurry and her hearing started fading when she heard a strong, raspy voice from the old man.

'Enough. She's already done.'

'But boss, can we taste her? She's still warm.'

'Respect the living and the dead unless you want them to hunt you back.'

'Superstition.'

'In here, you must listen to the old saying. But if you don't believe, you should at least pay respect to them.'

'Alright, boss. Whatever you say.'

'You may go now. I'll pay respect to her soul.'

Silas, the old man, and the prison's owner, firmly dismissed his prison guards. Alone, he pulled down the chains and carefully laid the lifeless body of the lady general down on the cold concrete ground. He might be the owner, but he was hands-on taking care of the deceased body to pay respect to the dead. But before he could call someone to retrieve the body, an eerie vibe began spreading throughout his body.

'Ang bilang man ay hihigit sa limang daang libong hampas, magmamarka sa katawan, walang makakatakas sa kaluluwang mapaghiganti.'

Hearing a cold whisper, he halted from his spot, feeling the cold sweat suddenly fall from the corner of his head, and gulped. He had never experienced anything like it before. He may not understand what it says, but he knew there was something in there. Slowly, he turned and sighed in relief—the body stayed still, but when he was about to take a step, there it went again.

'The counts may be more than five hundred thousand hits, leaving marks on the body. Nobody can escape a vengeful soul.'

His eyes grew wide as he clearly understood what the whisper had been saying, making him shiver. He knew something was not right and quickly turned to the lifeless body, but he was greeted by something that could only exist in the terrifying films.

A monster.
