Ryosuke didn't feel like joining a Jujutsu high school, afraid it might change the story too much and keep him from reaching the goals he had set for himself.
Still, it was true that his aunt's visit had come at the right time. He wanted an outside perspective.
Yuki answered: "In Japan, there are two official training centers for Jujutsu sorcerers. One is in Tokyo, and the other in Kyoto. Since you're already in Tokyo, it would make sense for you to join that one."
Ryosuke remained thoughtful.
Joining a Jujutsu high school… was it really necessary? He understood the advantages: more resources, better mastery of his abilities, and above all, the chance to meet the sorcerers who had become legends in this world. He felt a certain excitement at the thought of encountering the protagonists—even the hero himself.
But on the other hand, he couldn't shake the feeling that such a choice could change everything. By joining the official system, he knew he would risk drawing attention. And that attention, he feared it as much as he craved it. If he stepped into the light, his mother and little sister could become targets. So, was he ready to take such a risk?
He let out a sigh, torn by this dilemma.
But why worry so much?
"Why care about the story in the end?"
Maybe, for once, he should trust himself.
"Aunt Yuki confirmed that I have a unique power, a potential few sorcerers ever possessed. Plus, I have Overhaul. And if I decide to use it at its full potential…"
He was capable of defying the rules themselves. No enemy could truly harm him. And no danger would threaten those he loved.
Lost in these thoughts, he lifted his eyes to the sky, searching for an answer among the branches swaying gently in the wind.
It was then that, beside him, his aunt Yuki did the same, her gaze dark, her lips pressed into a worried line.
"Well… what's he doing here?" she muttered through clenched teeth.
Ryosuke frowned, trying to sense the same presence Yuki seemed to have noticed. He focused, probing the cursed energy spreading through the air around them.
He could feel a calm flow of cursed energy approaching the top of the black curtain.
A few seconds later, a dark figure appeared, piercing through the curtain of energy as if it were nothing. The figure seemed to float downward toward them.
As its form became clearer, Ryosuke's eyes widened in shock, his breath caught, his heart pounding furiously.
"What? But… what's he doing here?"
As the figure descended, the details came into view.
A sweatshirt and casual pants, his hands buried in his pockets, and his face half hidden behind opaque, reflective glasses. The most distinctive feature was his snow-white hair.
When he landed softly in front of Ryosuke and Yuki, it was as if the world itself held its breath.
Ryosuke felt his heart race faster than ever, his eyes wide with awe and disbelief.
It couldn't be… but it was. He had recognized this man in an instant.
Satoru Gojo, the legendary Jujutsu sorcerer, was standing right there before him.
Ryosuke had seen him in unforgettable moments, epic battles where he seemed to defy the impossible. And now, he stood just a few steps away, with that nonchalant air that made it seem like nothing was ever serious.
Satoru's eyes first fell on Ryosuke. He stayed silent, a faint smile tugging at his lips, then turned toward Yuki, who stared back with a mix of defiance and irritation.
She crossed her arms, her eyes flashing with an almost aggressive glint.
"So, you come back to the country without warning anyone, Miss Tsukumo?" Gojo said, his voice amused.
Yuki clenched her teeth, her gaze sharpening, a hint of annoyance flickering in her expression.
"I don't answer to anyone, least of all you," she retorted sharply, her voice like a blade.
Satoru shrugged lightly, as if her words didn't affect him in the slightest, and took a few steps toward Ryosuke.
The young man felt his heart beating even faster, his throat tight with excitement and nerves. It was so unreal. To see Gojo Satoru, his idol, in person…
Ever since he had gained the memories of his former life, he had spent hours imagining meetings like this, but none had ever felt as vivid as the one he was living now.
It was like stepping into a waking dream.
Satoru leaned slightly toward Ryosuke, a mysterious smile flickering on his lips. Then, to add to the drama, he slowly lowered his glasses. Behind the opaque lenses, Ryosuke glimpsed his piercing blue irises, shining like shards of ice.
The Six Eyes!
"Well then, I've finally found you," Satoru murmured, sliding his glasses back on with a casual motion, the smile still on his face.
Ryosuke swallowed hard, breathless. "Finally found me"? What did he mean by that? Could it be that Satoru Gojo was here for him specifically? The thought stirred a mix of apprehension and pride, along with a flood of questions.
But he didn't have time to voice them, because Yuki suddenly stepped between them, brushing aside Gojo's hand that had rested casually on her nephew's shoulder.
"He's my nephew," she said curtly, a note of reproach in her voice. "What do you want from him, Satoru?"
Satoru raised a hand in mock apology, though the spark of amusement in his eyes hadn't dimmed. He let out a soft laugh before turning his attention back to Ryosuke.
"Oh, of course, of course," he replied in a tone of feigned innocence. "But you see," he added, pointing at Ryosuke, "he's been the subject of an investigation… for a month now."
Yuki's face hardened, her brows knitting into a deep expression of mistrust.
"An investigation?" she repeated, her eyes narrowing with suspicion. "Where is that coming from?"
Satoru shrugged, still completely at ease.
"Orders from above," he explained cheerfully.
Yuki let out a short, almost bitter laugh.
"Since when do you follow orders?"
Gojo answered with silence, but his mischievous smile said everything. Then he fixed his gaze on Ryosuke again, his expression suddenly more intense.
"Tell me," he said, "the Ume hospital—rings a bell, doesn't it?"
