Aoi walked briskly, leading Ryosuke through the school's main path. The dark wooden buildings, surrounded by carefully tended gardens, seemed steeped in timeless serenity.

"You'll see, Ryosuke, this place can change you. But more importantly, it's the perfect place to… have a little fun," Aoi said with a mischievous wink.

Ryosuke raised an eyebrow. "Have fun? In a jujutsu high school?"

"Well, why not? It's not just about training and lessons. It's also where you figure out who you really are… And more importantly, who's the strongest!" Aoi burst into laughter.

Ryosuke followed his gaze as Aoi pointed to the right. A dojo stood there, its large sliding wooden doors beautifully carved.

They continued on, passing through a bamboo garden where a gentle breeze set the leaves rustling. Aoi then pointed toward a smaller building, set slightly apart.

"That's the library. Well… for the studious ones, anyway." He shrugged. "Some spend more time there than others. But be careful! The caretaker's a real terror. The type to glare at you like a hawk if you even dare cough too loudly."

Ryosuke chuckled.

"And here's the dorm wing," Aoi announced, pointing to a simple yet elegant building. "That's where you'll be staying. You'll be in first year with three other students."

Aoi raised a brow. "Not surprised by the number?"

Ryosuke smiled. "Not many people can control jujutsu energy. I'm guessing it's the same here."

Aoi gave him a look of amusement. "Not bad, kid! You've already got good instincts. Yeah, sorcerers are a minority. But trust me, the peace never lasts long."

They reached a wide field below, ringed with stone pillars and banners in the school's colors. Aoi stopped at the top of the stairs leading down to what looked like a training ground.

"Here it is, Ryosuke—the heart of the action! You'll be spending most of your days here." He pointed down to two figures. "And those are your future classmates."

Ryosuke narrowed his eyes to get a better look.

On the training field below, one figure sat quietly in the stands while the other practiced relentlessly, drawing and sheathing her sword with precise, practiced motions.

The one sitting resembled a humanoid brown puppet, almost robotic in form. The back of its head was decorated with black stylized lines, and on its forehead was a black spiral-like symbol. It wore the school uniform, with a gray scarf around its neck.

The girl, meanwhile, wore a dark tracksuit. Her long pale-blue hair, tied into a ponytail, followed the rhythm of her every movement.

Suddenly, Aoi raised his hand and shouted down: "Hey, you two! Come meet your new classmate!"

The pair exchanged a brief look, unbothered. They didn't move, continuing what they were doing. Aoi, not one to wait, bellowed: "What, do I have to come down there myself?!"

In a flash, both figures shot upward, climbing the stairs in an instant. They stopped before Ryosuke and bowed respectfully.

The humanoid puppet regarded him with a serious gaze, while the girl gave him a nervous smile.

Ryosuke nodded back slightly, feeling a mix of awkwardness and flattery.

He was about to speak when Aoi grabbed his shoulder. "Come on, we don't have all day!" he said, already dragging him off in another direction.

Ryosuke glanced back, exchanging one last look with the two.

She's not here yet…

The girl in the dark tracksuit watched Ryosuke walk away with Aoi, thoughtful. She turned to the puppet beside her, arms crossed.

"It's really strange seeing Todo-senpai get along with someone, especially a first-year," she muttered, half to herself. "Do you think they already know each other?"

The puppet fixed its gaze on Ryosuke's back. Its mechanical eyes glowed faintly.

"Hm," it replied in a deep voice. "That means he must be strong."

The girl straightened up and stretched. "If that's the case… all the more reason to train harder!"

She turned to the puppet with a smile. "Come on, help me this time, Mechamaru?"

The puppet stared at her a moment, then nodded silently. Together, they went back down to the training field.

The girl picked up her practice sword and assumed a determined stance.

Standing at the door of his new room, Ryosuke took a deep breath and let out a long sigh of exhaustion. Aoi had dragged him everywhere, showing him every corner of the school without giving him a second to rest.

Finally, he placed his hand on the handle and stepped inside. The room waiting for him was simple but surprisingly spacious, with bright white walls and fresh tatami flooring. In the center stood a plain bed—a mattress with no sheets or pillows. Minimalist, almost spartan.

He walked over to the bed and let himself fall back onto it, arms spread wide, staring at the ceiling. Silence reigned, broken only by the distant song of a bird outside. A faint smile touched his lips.

Slowly, he sat up on the edge of the bed, a playful smirk tugging at his mouth. "Well, since I'm here… might as well make things interesting."

---

The next morning, as the sun barely touched the horizon, Ryosuke stood on the training grounds. Arms crossed, he observed the landscape unfolding before him.

He inhaled deeply, savoring the calm. A sly smile flickered on his lips at the thought of everything that awaited him here. But the peace didn't last. He felt it—someone's gaze on him.

He lifted his eyes slightly and spotted a figure seated higher up on the stone bleachers. It was the humanoid puppet from yesterday. Motionless, it stared at him with glowing red eyes.

Feigning indifference, Ryosuke kept watching it from the corner of his eye, as if testing its patience.

After several long minutes, he finally turned his head, meeting its gaze with a mischievous smirk.

"So, are you planning to keep spying on me, or do you actually have something to say?"
