Chapter 24 - chapter 25: Power of the Top Ten

Chapter 31: Power of the Top Ten

BOOOOM... finally, the four-story building could no longer hold on, it collapsed and crashed to the ground, blowing dust and debris from the surrounding areas. However, the ten hybrids fighting with the king bat were not done yet; they would occasionally flicker within the dusty area.

For ordinary hybrids, their movement is hard to follow, only powerful hybrids like Osa can follow their movement. Even though, on the outside, it looks like they are doing well to hold off the bat king, Osa knew that that is not the case. Though these bat creatures are not that powerful, he knew their terror - it is their greenish acid.

This king bat had used it to dissolve a small hill back at the godforsaken mountain. What's more, even though it has been taking a beating all this while, there's not a single scratch on its body; it still appears as agile as it was before the fight began.

Osa slammed one of the bats he was fighting against on the floor, raising dirt, and with a swoosh, beheaded the other. Then he leaped over the third one and gave it a spinning kick to the neck, breaking and killing it in the process. He was now left with one to kill.

The other hybrids, upon witnessing how Osa had just effortlessly killed two bats, were shocked to the core. It has to be known that it takes two or even three hybrids to fight on equal footing with these creatures, yet Osa has just killed two of them easily. "Shiiii!" One of the hybrids paid a costly mistake by having acid spit on his head when he stopped concentrating on his battle.

The acid melted his whole head, leaving a headless corpse. This reminded the other hybrids that they were in the middle of a war against beasts, and a single mistake would cost them their life.

"Bang!" Finally, Osa defeated his last beast by crushing its skull with a punch. Just when Osa was about to relax with his sensitive ears, he caught the sound of an object flying through the air. But the object was far away; after a few seconds, it became closer, and now Osa could feel it.

Even though it was not aimed at him, it was aimed at the king bat, but if Osa did not leave the way, it would hit him first. Osa could only hurriedly leap over the coming object. When Osa was finally able to know what it was, it was a flaming arrow. Looking at the flaming arrow, Osa found it familiar.

After landing, he hurriedly looked at the caster - it was a handsome young man with dirty blonde hair who appeared to be in his late teens. It finally clicked in Osa's head - that's Jack Flamingo, the most powerful hybrid in my school back then. It was even rumored that he possessed a C-grade talent, but I thought he left this country some time ago. How come he is here, and so powerful?

If that arrow had hit me, it would definitely injure me, Osa thought as he was observing Jack. And the same is for Jack - he is also observing Osa because Osa had been able to dodge his arrow, which shows that their power difference is not that large apart. How is this possible? The last time I saw him, he was just an ordinary human. Even if he later awoken, how come he is this powerful? How does he train himself? Jack thought to himself as he observed Osa.

While the two of them were lost in their thoughts, the arrow had finally managed to reach the bat king. When the arrow hit the bat king, it exploded into flames, causing the bat king to let out an angry roar. The heat from the explosion was so terrifying that it could melt metals.

Not wanting to give it any time to recover, the other ten hybrids fighting those with elemental powers started firing it at the bat king. As for those that had to do with a more direct approach, they could only wait and watch the elementalists do their work. "BOOM! BOOM!" Fireball, ice spear, giant rock, and energy explosion all hit the bat king at the same time.

The explosion was so intense that it literally blew all the bat creatures flying in the air. It even caused a miniature earthquake that destroyed buildings, cars, and even the huge city wall was reduced to dust by the aftermath. Caught off guard, Osa was thrown a few meters into the air before falling on the ground.

Jack, though a little bit far away from the battlefield, was also thrown away but was able to land safely. All the ten hybrids were now exhausted; all they could do now is to gather together and wait for the dust and smoke to slowly settle down.

A few moments later, the dust and smoke started settling down, and finally, it revealed the bat king. When they saw the bat king, they were overcome with despair. Even Osa and Jack, a few meters away, upon witnessing this, could not help but feel their heart tightening.

After being blasted with such a powerful attack, the bat king was still standing strong. There was not a single scratch on its body, except for the ferocious glint in its eyes. Now, it faced the sky and let out a sharp cry, then flew into the air and started circling. It was quite strange, considering it was a bat.

After circling for a breath, it swooped down. All ten hybrids were preparing to defend themselves, but it was only when it was too late that they understood what this bat king aimed at. It was not them; it was the weaker hybrids fighting against the other bat.

The bat king's aim was at those who gathered together in one place and those who were using formations. A large greenish acid was spit by the bat king, and it fell on the body of five hybrids fighting off two bats, dissolving them into nothing. Not even their bones were left; everything was dissolved.
