Chapter 1 - It just begun

I'm Maila, though everyone commonly calls me Mai, a name I chose for myself because it sounds simpler and prettier.

Selena, Kay, and Praise are my siblings. Yes, there are four of us, and I am the third child.

My dad, Edward, and my mum, Emily, have been married for twenty years. Funny enough, despite being married for so long, they are still a very young couple. They had Selena and Kay before they got married, but that was never considered a taboo in our family.

During their twenty-second year together, they decided to relocate to Poland because of my dad's new business. We were Irish, and moving to another country was a huge step, but none of us saw it as a problem. In fact, we were all excited about the new experience.

Relocating wasn't a big deal for us. We were ready for the change and looked forward to the adventure. Our flight was scheduled for Saturday, the 10th.

As our plane flew from Ireland to Poland, I found myself studying each member of my family, trying to read their expressions and understand what was going through their minds.

Dad had the expression of someone ready for a new adventure. He looked excited and prepared for the experience that awaited us. Mum, on the other hand, seemed completely unbothered, but that was nothing unusual. She had always been that way, calm and unaffected by almost everything.

Kay sat quietly, staring blankly out of the window at the clouds. His face showed no emotion, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking.

Selena was, as usual, glued to her phone. She was a complete social media addict and could spend hours scrolling without noticing the world around her.

Praise, the youngest of us all and the one who loved me more than anyone, had already fallen asleep. She rested peacefully in her seat, completely unaware of everything happening around her.

As for me, after observing everyone, I leaned back in my seat and stared ahead, my mind overflowing with thoughts. I have always been the imaginative one. My mind was constantly creating stories, scenarios, and entire worlds that existed only in my imagination.

After travelling a distance of about 1,842.88 kilometres in approximately 2.02 hours, we finally arrived at our destination.

Poland.

A new country.

A new beginning.

A new lifestyle.
