Chapter 9: Shopping
While the rest of the Uzumaki Clan members were asleep, Raiken remained awake, his mind occupied with the thought of purchasing something from the livestream shopping center.
The total number of stars he had accumulated was 33,015. His strategic decision to head toward Konoha had been well received by the audience watching his livestream.
Fortunately, he didn't choose to remain in Mount Myoboku. Had he done so, the audience might have lost interest and stopped donating stars, bored by a plan that lacked tension or excitement.
First impressions were important. If he could build a strong enough fanbase now, they might continue supporting him in the future. After all, he was still relatively weak. While his overall strength was at the Jonin level, he was nothing compared to a true Kage-level ninja.
Raiken opened the system mall.
The first thing that caught his eye was the food section. The items there were dirt cheap, but unfortunately, there was a daily purchase limit. Still, it was good for sustaining the clan in an emergency.
Next, his eyes moved to the jutsu section. Rank D skills cost around 100 stars, Rank C about 300 stars, Rank B around 1,000 stars, Rank A around 3,000 stars, and Rank S jutsu cost a staggering 10,000 stars each.
After browsing the jutsu catalog, he shifted to the attribute tab. To his surprise, it included the option to boost one chakra reserves, physical strength, speed, and even mastery over specific fields like ninjutsu, genjutsu, and fuinjutsu.
He purchased 10 attribute points for trial and it costing him 1,000 stars in total.
Without hesitation, he allocated all 10 points into his fuinjutsu attribute. A sudden rush of knowledge poured into his mind. Complex sealing patterns and theories that once confused him now felt intuitive and simple. Techniques that used to take hours to decode were now readable in mere seconds.
A smile tugged at his lips.
"I can do more than just survive now," Raiken muttered to himself. "I can lead my clan in fuinjutsu."
He scrolled further and noticed something new in the limited-time section: a discounted summoning contract scroll for a mysterious beast, price tagged at 5,000 stars.
Raiken paused.
A unique summon could be a game-changer, something that would not only bolster his strength but captivate his viewers even more.
He didn't press buy—yet.
Instead, he bookmarked the page, leaned back, and looked at the sleeping tents of his fellow clan members. His heart felt heavy with responsibility but hopeful for the path ahead.
There was a long road in front of him but at least now, they are all still survive and he wasn't walking it alone.
---Konohagakure, Senju Residence---
"I'm sorry, Mito-sama," apologized Hiruzen, his voice low and filled with guilt. "Our reinforcements arrived too late. By the time we got there, everyone... had already died."
Mito's breathing grew heavier as the weight of the news hit her.
"No one survived?" she asked weakly, her eyes trembling with hope—hope that perhaps, just one had escaped.
Hiruzen looked down, unable to meet her gaze. The news of massacred was too heavy for him. He had failed to protect one of Konoha most important allies.
"No, Mito-sama," he replied solemnly.
"Haaa... haaa..." Mito gasped. "Please… call Kushina."
"Yes, Mito-sama," Hiruzen replied, walking out respectfully before turning to leave the room. His steps grew heavier with each passing second, burdened by the news of massacre.
Once outside the residence, he motioned silently to a nearby Anbu. The masked shinobi appeared at his side in a flash.
"Tell Kushina that Mito-sama wishes to speak with her," Hiruzen ordered.
The Anbu nodded once and disappeared into the wind.
Hiruzen turned his gaze back toward the Senju Residence, his heart aching with regret.
"I'm sorry, Tobirama-sensei," he murmured. "I failed to protect the Uzumaki Clan."
---Mito POV---
The news had broken something deep within her. Her heart, already weakened from age and the burden of being a Jinchuuriki, now felt as though it would crumble under the weight of grief.
Her homeland, her people had gone forever. An entire legacy wiped out in a single act of violence.
She had trusted Konoha to protect them when the news arrived that the clan are being attacked by another village. She had believed in Hashirama and also in its will of fire. And yet… here she was, mourning the death of her kin.
But she did not doubt Hiruzen. The Nine Tails could sense chakra being released based on emotions. Something like lies, hatred, joy, grief. The beast inside her confirmed can sense the chakra emitted, so she also had the same ability like the beast because he become the host. Hiruzen was telling the truth. He also was devastated, truly remorseful.
Still, that didn't make it any easier to accept the news.
She needed to see Kushina. The last ray of hope from her homeland.
A few minutes later, a soft, cheerful voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Grandma," Kushina greeted as she entered the room, a bright smile on her face.
"Kushina," Mito smiled gently, her face relaxing at the sight of the younger girl.
"Are you okay, Grandma?" asked Kushina, noticing the fatigue and pain behind Mito eyes.
Mito didn't answer. Instead, she posed a question of her own.
"How is your life as a shinobi?"
"It's better now," replied Kushina, smiling. "I've made some friends, Uchiha Mikoto and more… more than I expected. Things were rough at first, but I'm adjusting."
She paused, her cheeks turning pink as a certain memory floated into her mind—Minato saving her and calling her hair beautiful. She looked away, blushing faintly.
"Do you like Minato?" asked Mito with a knowing smile.
"Grandma!" Kushina exclaimed, flustered. "Don't say things like that!"
But suddenly Mito expression turned serious.
"Kushina, I need to tell you something important."
Gulp. The sudden shift in tone made Kushina nervous.
"Your homeland… Uzushiogakure… was attacked. The enemy villages managed to infiltrate and massacre everyone inside the village."
"What…?" Kushina asked, her voice trembling. "Grandma… please repeat again."
Mito didn't speak. Instead, tears flowed silently down her cheeks.
"According to the report… no one survived," she said softly.
Kushina eyes widened, her heart sinking into her chest.
"Brother…" she whispered.
Her thoughts flashed to the brother she hadn't seen in years—Raiken. He would be sixteen now. She had been so young when she left Uzushiogakure. She had always believed they would reunite one day.
But now…
Tears welled in her eyes, blurring her vision as she collapsed into Mito arms.
Mito held her tightly, her own pain echoing Kushina sobs.
For a few moments, there were no words—just grief.
And outside the Senju Residence, the wind carried the sorrow of the last two Uzumaki in the village.
What neither of them knew… was that far away, on another dimension of the world, a livestream was starting once again and Raiken story was being streamed.
