Chapter 1 - Heart Attack.

Glen was never the same after Reyna got sick.

Though she was theoretically treatable he didn't have the money or means to help her, I didn't either but we found a way.

He told me he would do anything to save her.

He really meant that. He ended up selling "Happiness", and I helped him, acting as his bodyguard. He needed protection and I provided, for a price of course.

I knew this would blow-up in our faces one day, I could feel it. It was like fate.

We were on our way to meet someone that potentially "Acquired" the cure for Reyna.

Ike Talon, he had some credibility, since he

destroyed one of our rivals.

Glen decided to at least see if the information

was accurate. No harm in checking right?

****

Glen and I were sitting across from each other in his limo. It was white with a black interior and had a bar. Couldn't tell

you much more then that as I'm not really a car guy. We had clearly come a long way from

just selling on the street.

Glen was a decently handsome guy with a large square jaw, big green eyes and dark brown, nearly black hair. he only had two problems. His height, coming to around,5'8 and him just being the type of guy that would

look far better when he is older. I think it's called a silver fox? Not that it matters.

I on the other hand was already where he needed to be. Since I was older by two years,

I looked similar to him other then my slightly narrower jaw, my bright blonde hair and medium sized beard.I got the color from our mothers side .

I'm also taller then him at 6'3.

Neither of us were ripped but we had some

muscle.

I was dressed in the standard "bodyguard".

Outfit, that being a black suit white button up

shirt, a black tie and to and for little uniqueness of my own a pair of red lensed aviators.

Glen was calmly sipping a martini.

He was dressed in his signature red jacket and white jeans.

I decided to break the silence.

"Glen, you sure Ike has it?"

"He will, Ike's not an idiot. He knows what will happen if he gets on my bad side. I do own half the city."

Glen responded with confidence.

"I'm glad you're in high spirits. Now tell me

what's the first thing you're going to do when she wakes up."

I asked with curiosity.

"I will console her."

he said.

"For all the time she's lost?"

I inquired.

"Yeah."

He answered casually. Taking a sip of his drink right after answering.

I could feel something was off but I couldn't

put my finger on it.

****

The limousine had come to a stop and Glen and I stepped out.

I had expected an abandoned warehouse.

In reality we arrived at what I would call a

normal family home, other than the fact it was

in the middle of a large forty acre property.

"For all intents and purposes, this looks like a trap."

I voiced my concern to Glen.

"Why are you so on edge Dean?

Calm down it'll be fine."

He nonchalantly replied while walking to the buildings front door.

Glen knocked on it twice then a male voice came from beyond it.

"What are two separate things that work together to create the inevitable for all living things?"

Glen froze up not knowing what to do.

Of course classic Glen never remembering

the pass codes.

I walked up and answered for him.

"Death and time."

The voice responded.

"Welcome Mr. Keller, Mr. Talon will see you now." He then opened the the door.

Talon's bodyguard greeted us, well really only

Glen, But I'm not the boss right? He led us to Ike.

Ike was sitting in a beanbag chair in his garage, clearly waiting for us.

The place was full of memorabilia from

all over the world and it looked like he hired

a professional artist to paint the walls.

Since it was clearly a remarkably detailed beach, well not just a beach it had a bunch of naked sun tanning women on it.

Though I couldn't fault him for it.

His house right?

He pointed to the other chairs in the rather large space.

Glen chose first, sitting in another beanbag not too far away. Its customary for him

to sit first because obviously, he's the boss.

I took a seat in the only chair left. It was one of those small cheap plastic one's, not that I minded.

As I did so Glen smirked a little. Ah.. seeing me, a rather large guy, in such a small chair

I can see why it would be funny.

Ike was a middle aged man with rough features and a balding head.

He was outfitted in a Hawaii shirt and a pair of

shorts.

He gave the impression of a goofy uncle.

But we knew the cold person underneath.

Glen spoke up first.

"Do you have the requested item?"

Ike responded in casual speech.

"Of course, Of course I wouldn't call you out here otherwise."

Glen raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything.

"Remember I only have the one ingredient you already have the others, Now do you have the agree amount?

I didn't know about Glen already having part of the cure, but he probably just thought it wasn't

good to tell me so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Glen then nodded to me, I got the memo.

I slid the rather large brief case towards Ike.

One of his three bodyguards came over first to check if it was trapped, then gave it to Ike right after. He opened It and smiled.

Glen broke the silence.

"Enough for you?"

"Plenty, but are we still following the full agreement or are you gonna back off?"

Ike then looked at me for some reason while

still talking to Glen.

"I'm moving forward with it still"

Glen smirked. Leaning back in his beanbag a little.

My mind was muddled in confusion. What are they talking about and what does it have to do with me? I readied myself with caution.

Ike then spoke to his men.

"Alrighty then, get him boys and remember. Don't kill him."

He smirked as well, enjoying himself.

I immediately shot from my seat. I had felt Something pass next to my face I turned to see a one of Ike's men with a cloth full of powder.

Chloroform.

The other two goons threw a punch each but I

easily blocked them and countered with one of my own. Knocking one of them out in the process. I wasn't a bodyguard for nothing.

The other one was a better fighter and clocked me in the mouth a few times, but that didn't mean I played fair. after blocked his next punch I pulled a knife from

my inner pocket and jammed it in his eye killing him.

The first guy with the chloroform was the last one standing, he also happened to be standing in front of my only exit out of here.

"Your next, or are you just gonna get out of my

way?" I showed him a bloody smile, my sunglasses were cracked in some places as well.

He clearly had zero confidence in fighting me

physically, or he would have joined his friends earlier.

instead if moving he pulled out a ranged teaser and shot me with it.

"Ah shit" I Cursed.

I was then enveloped in pain I fell to the ground I could feel the cloth come over my face, then everything went black.

I awoke in some kind of medical facility,

tied down with doctors getting ready for surgery.

Glen was standing over me, smirking.

"Why?"

I asked a simple question.

"You were the only match....and I care far more for Reyna then I do for you. To me you're equivalent to a random bodyguard, so when it comes down to to you or her I'll pick her every time"

"She won't forgive you for this."

"I know, that's why she'll think you did it voluntarily, she'll be sad maybe even a little broken, did you know? she's in love with you, and guess who's gonna be there to comfort her in her time of need?

"Piece of shit"

I spat at him and it landed on his face

he wiped it with a napkin then started talking

again.

"Dean, when Reyna wakes up she'll have what she's always wanted: your heart, well in this case literally but that's what love is all about right? Death do us part and all that crap."

he sounded somehow sarcastic and heartfelt

at the same time. Like he actually believed what he was saying.

Glen then spoke to the head surgeon.

"When you guys are done burn the body"

The man nodded.

He stepped away after that.

I screamed at him while he walked down the

hall smirking all the way, enjoying himself.

"BASTARD!!!!"

Then the Bucher's started cutting.

That ended up being the last thing I said in this world.

****

I woke in a white void.

"Where am I what is going on"

I voiced in a panic.

"Calm yourself, I will explain soon."

I Looked towards were I thought the voice

was coming from and was stunned.

A real angel, but that revelation paled in comparison to her beauty.

The angel woman had long flowing red hair,

Large white feathered wings, white skin without blemish. The only odd things is that she was blindfolded and there were black chains on her wings keeping them closed along with covering all her sensitive areas.

"Who are you?"

I asked cautiously.

As she parted her pink lips, and a sweet but monotone voice answered.

"You may call me Nemesis."
