Chapter 3: The Ones Who Descend
The sky no longer felt like something that belonged to the world as the cracks that had once spread across it now opened completely turning the night into something unnatural something deeper than darkness the storm that had once roared violently slowed down as if it had lost its purpose and the clouds twisted around the massive rupture above like they were being pulled toward something that existed beyond human understanding the air grew heavy again but this time it was different it was not just pressure it was presence something vast something ancient something that made the world itself feel small
Avi stood still beneath that broken sky his crimson eyes fixed upward as the mark on his chest pulsed steadily each pulse sending a wave through his body that he could not fully control yet somehow it did not feel unfamiliar it felt like something that had always been there something that had simply been waiting his breathing remained calm but his mind was no longer clear fragments moved within him like distant memories trying to reach the surface
Beside him the girl struggled to stay standing her body trembling under the invisible weight pressing down on everything she could barely breathe her thoughts scattered as she tried to understand what she was seeing this was beyond fear beyond imagination this was something that should not exist in her world and yet it was real standing right in front of her and above her
This cannot be real she whispered but even she knew the words meant nothing
The creature that had emerged from the ruins no longer looked confident its posture had shifted its movements slower as its hollow eyes turned toward the sky for the first time since it appeared there was hesitation not fear but awareness something it had not expected
They are early it muttered its voice quieter sharper than before
Avi noticed the change immediately his gaze shifting slightly toward the creature who are they he asked calmly
The creature remained silent for a moment as if considering whether to answer before finally speaking a single word
Judges
That word did not echo loudly yet it carried a weight that settled into the air itself as if the world recognized it the temperature dropped instantly and the storm above slowed even further like it was waiting
Then they appeared
At first they were nothing more than shapes within the broken sky faint outlines barely visible through the glowing fractures but as they descended their forms became clearer more defined more real three figures each one carrying a presence that did not belong to the human world
The first was surrounded by a soft golden light his descent controlled effortless as if gravity held no authority over him his features were unnaturally perfect not beautiful but precise like something crafted rather than born his eyes were calm yet within that calmness was something absolute something that did not need to prove itself
The second figure followed wrapped in deep blue energy that moved like water around her her form seemed unstable at the edges like she existed in multiple layers at once her eyes were cold sharp observing everything with quiet calculation
The third figure did not shine did not glow it simply existed surrounded by a darkness that did not spread but consumed its presence silent yet overwhelming like a void given form
They reached the ground without a sound but the moment they arrived the world changed the space around them bent slightly as if struggling to maintain its shape under their presence
The man in the black suit still lying among the rubble forced himself to look up and the moment he saw them his expression broke completely
Judges he whispered his voice filled with disbelief and something close to fear why are they here
The golden figure stepped forward his gaze moving across the ruins taking in everything the broken ground the scattered energy the creature that should not exist
Unauthorized presence he said calmly a sealed entity crossing into a realm it was not meant to enter
His voice was not loud yet it carried authority that did not need to be questioned
The creature straightened its posture its earlier amusement gone I did not expect interference it replied its tone sharper now
You were not expected to exist the blue cloaked woman said her voice cold your presence is an error
The tension in the air thickened as the space between them became unstable not yet a battle but no longer passive
Then the golden figure's gaze shifted slowly deliberately until it landed on Avi
Everything changed
The pressure in the air focused entirely on him not physically but something deeper something that pressed against his very existence the mark on his chest flared in response burning brighter
So it is true the golden figure murmured
The blue cloaked woman narrowed her eyes her attention now fully on Avi while the dark figure tilted its head slightly as if observing something that had finally appeared
Incomplete it whispered
The word struck deeper than expected not as an insult but as a statement
Avi did not step back even as the pressure increased his body held steady his eyes burning brighter who are you he asked quietly
The golden figure did not answer instead he raised his hand slightly and the air froze everything slowed the falling dust the shifting light even the storm above became sluggish as if time itself had thickened
You should not exist in this state the golden figure said your seal was meant to remain intact
Avi's eyes flickered then why is it broken he replied
For the first time the blue cloaked woman reacted her expression shifting slightly he does not know she said softly
The dark figure stepped forward its presence deepening fragmented incomplete unstable it whispered
Avi clenched his fist as those words stirred something inside him
Before anything else could happen the creature moved again lunging toward Avi with explosive force its claw tearing through the air
But before it could reach him the golden figure flicked his finger
The creature stopped mid motion frozen in place its body trembling as it struggled against an invisible force
You have already broken too many laws the golden figure said
With a small motion the creature's body twisted unnaturally then collapsed and disappeared completely
Silence followed heavy and final
The girl stared unable to understand how something so powerful had been erased so easily
But Avi did not react to that his attention remained on the three figures
The golden figure stepped closer you will come with us he said
Avi remained still and if I refuse he asked
The air grew heavier
You do not have that option the blue cloaked woman replied
The mark on Avi's chest burned again his vision blurring as fragments returned chains fire a throne and a voice echoing in the distance telling him he was never meant to be free
He clenched his fist his breathing slowing before taking a step back
I am not going anywhere he said
The silence that followed was sharp
Then we will force you the golden figure replied
The storm above reacted violently again the cracks widening further as something deeper within them began to move
Even the Judges noticed
This is not expected the blue cloaked woman said
The sky trembled the vortex expanded and from within the fracture a shadow deeper than darkness began to descend
The girl looked up her voice barely a whisper asking what it was
No one answered
Because this time even the Judges did not know
Avi's eyes glowed brighter as something inside him responded not with fear but with recognition
And far above within the broken sky something ancient watched in silence waiting
The world remained still but it was no longer calm
It had reached a point where everything that followed would change it completely
