The deeper they went, the more the dungeon revealed its true nature. This was no longer a simple hunting ground. It was a battlefield designed to break those who entered.
The forest twisted further into something unnatural, roots coiled like serpents beneath the ground, branches clawed at the air like skeletal hands, and the faint mist that covered the ground began to thicken, limiting visibility and distorting perception. Every step carried risk. Every sound carried meaning. And every shadow, could kill.
Lee Hyun and Min Seoah moved forward in silence, but the rhythm between them had changed. It was no longer two individuals fighting separately, it had become something closer to synchronization.
Not perfect. Not harmonious. But effective. The next wave came without warning. The ground beneath them cracked slightly, then exploded.
Three massive beasts burst out from below, their bodies covered in hardened bone plates, their claws elongated and dripping with a faint dark toxin.
[Boneclaw Stalkers – Level 16–18]
Before Lee Hyun could react, they moved. Fast. One lunged directly toward Min Seoah, its claws aiming straight for her torso. Another circled wide, attempting to flank. The third, went for Lee Hyun.
"…Split attack."
His mind calculated instantly. He activated Phantom Step, disappearing from his original position as the third beast slammed into the ground where he had stood. Reappearing to the side, his sword flashed, cutting into its exposed flank, but the resistance was stronger than expected.
"…Higher durability."
Meanwhile, Min Seoah moved with precision. Her blade danced through the air, releasing waves of frost that slowed the incoming beast. She stepped aside gracefully, avoiding the first strike, and countered with a sharp upward slash that froze part of its limb.
But, the second beast arrived. Too fast. Too close. Its claws cut through the mist, aimed directly at her blind spot. For a fraction of a second, her movement faltered. Not from weakness, but from miscalculation.
"…!"
Lee Hyun saw it. Clearly. Through Player Insight, the trajectory, timing, and impact point aligned perfectly in his vision. No time to think. No time to plan. He moved.
Phantom Step. His body vanished. Reappeared. Between her and the attack.
CLANG—
The impact echoed violently as his sword intercepted the claw mid-strike. The force behind it pushed him back, his feet digging into the ground as cracks spread beneath him.
"…Heavy…"
The beast roared, its second claw following immediately. Lee Hyun twisted his body, barely dodging as the attack grazed his shoulder. Pain flared, but he didn't stop.
"Move!"
He pushed Min Seoah back slightly. She regained her footing instantly, her eyes sharpening as the situation reset.
"…You—"
"No time."
He cut her off. Because the third beast was already charging again. The battlefield erupted. Lee Hyun activated Dragon Blade Dance – Second Pattern, his movements becoming explosive, aggressive. His blade struck multiple times in rapid succession, targeting weak points revealed by Player Insight.
Min Seoah followed. Her frost expanded further, freezing sections of the ground and limiting enemy movement. She stepped into close combat, her sword slicing cleanly through weakened joints and exposed gaps in the bone armor.
Their attacks began to overlap. Not intentionally. But effectively. Lee Hyun disrupted. Min Seoah executed. He created openings. She ended them. Within moments, the tide shifted. One beast fell. Then another. The last one attempted to retreat. But Lee Hyun appeared in front of it.
"…Too late."
His blade descended. Clean. Final. Silence returned. Heavy breathing filled the space.
Min Seoah stood still for a moment, her gaze fixed on the ground. Then he spoke.
"…You didn't have to."
Lee Hyun shrugged slightly.
"…It was faster."
A pause. Then—
"…Thanks."
The word came quietly. But clearly. He looked at her. Slightly surprised. But didn't comment. Then her expression returned to its usual cold composure.
"…But that doesn't mean I forgive you."
A brief silence. Lee Hyun sighed.
"…Still on that?"
She turned away slightly.
"…Don't push it."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"…Alright."
They moved again. Deeper. Further. Until they felt it. The atmosphere changed instantly. Heavier. Colder. Oppressive. Both of them stopped. At the same time.
"…Boss area."
The mist thickened ahead, forming a dense wall that blocked visibility completely. The ground beneath them cracked slowly, as if reacting to something massive beyond.
Then, A presence. Ancient. Violent. Dominant. It wasn't just stronger. It was, overwhelming. Lee Hyun activated Player Insight instinctively. The information appeared.

Lee Hyun's eyes narrowed.
"…Level 30…"
A gap. A massive gap. Even with their current strength, this wasn't something they could take lightly. Min Seoah stepped forward slightly, her frost aura expanding unconsciously as she felt the pressure.
"…This is different."
Her voice was quieter. But sharper.
"…We might die."
Lee Hyun didn't deny it.
"…Yeah."
A brief silence followed. Then, he stepped forward.
"…Let's do it anyway."
Min Seoah looked at him. For a moment. Then she stepped beside him.
"…Obviously."
Their auras rose. Energy gathered. Weapons ready. The mist ahead began to move. Something, was coming. And this time, There was no retreat.
