Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: NIGHTMARE SYNCHRONIZATION

The night passed in silence, but not in stillness. Outside the small house, beneath the open sky, Lee Hyun sat cross-legged, his breathing slow and measured as the Heavenly-Demonic Dual Circulation Method flowed through him like an endless tide.

The energy he gathered was no longer chaotic or forcefully controlled, it had begun to organize itself, forming a natural cycle between his body, mind, and spirit.

Demonic energy surged with intensity, raw and destructive, while a calm, almost divine current balanced it, preventing overflow and collapse. The two opposing forces didn't clash, they revolved, feeding into each other, strengthening the core of his existence.

With each breath, his internal structure refined. His muscles tightened subtly, his bones strengthened, his organs adapted. His mana pathways expanded slightly, allowing smoother flow.

Even his perception sharpened, he could feel the ground beneath him, the faint wind brushing against his skin, and even the distant presence of Min Seoah inside the house.

"…So this is cultivation…"

This wasn't just gaining power. This was becoming something else entirely. Hours passed like minutes. When he finally opened his eyes, the sky had already begun to shift toward dawn. A faint exhale escaped him.

"…I understand it now."

After a full day of continuous focus, he had not only stabilized the cultivation method, but also integrated everything he had acquired. His mind began to review it all systematically.

The Heavenly-Demonic Dual Circulation Method wasn't just a passive growth technique. It provided:

— Continuous body refinement

— Balanced energy conversion (mana, spirit, demonic energy)

— Increased recovery speed

— Enhanced control over techniques

— Resistance against backlash from high-tier abilities

"…Foundation complete."

Then the Dragon Blade Dance – Second Pattern. This was no longer about fluid movement alone. The second pattern introduced:

— Explosive acceleration

— Power amplification in short bursts

— Multi-angle strike sequences

— Energy-infused blade arcs

Unlike the first pattern, which emphasized control, This one was meant to dominate.

"…This will decide fights."

Then came the elemental spells. Simple. But essential.

Fire Spark – A compressed burst of flame that could ignite targets or disrupt movement.

Wind Push – A directional force used for repositioning or destabilizing enemies.

Water Flow – A flexible stream that could bind, deflect, or redirect attacks.

Earth Reinforcement – Temporary enhancement to defense or impact resistance.

"They're basic…"

"…but versatile."

And in battle, versatility meant survival. Finally, the movement technique given by his master. It wasn't flashy. But it was terrifying in its efficiency.

[Phantom Step Art]

A technique that focused on:

— Instant directional shifts

— Minimal energy consumption

— Afterimage creation (early stage)

— Unpredictable movement patterns

"…This…"

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"…This will make me untouchable."

He stood up slowly. His body felt lighter. Sharper. More responsive.

"…Time to level up again."

Just as he turned, the door opened. Min Seoah stepped out. Her presence was the same, calm, cold, composed, but her aura had grown denser. She had also made progress.

Their eyes met briefly. Lee Hyun spoke first.

"…Going out?"

No answer. She walked past him. Silent. Still angry. He sighed slightly.

"…Still mad, huh."

A small pause. Then, be spoke again.

"We can go together."

This time, she stopped. For a second. But didn't look back.

"…Do whatever you want."

Not acceptance. Not rejection. But not refusal either. Lee Hyun smiled faintly.

"…Good enough."

They moved together. Silently. Through the academy gates and toward the dungeon zone. This time they didn't choose something easy. They chose, a D Rank Dungeon. But not just any.

"…Nightmare difficulty."

Lee Hyun glanced at the selection board.

"…You and me, are enough, right?"

Min Seoah stepped forward without hesitation.

"…Let's go."

Before entering, Lee Hyun spoke calmly.

"Dungeons are divided into five levels."

She didn't respond, but she listened.

"Beginner."

"Intermediate."

"Elite."

"Hard."

"…And Nightmare."

A brief pause.

"Each level multiplies the danger."

"Stronger monsters."

"Better coordination."

"Higher intelligence."

"Unpredictable patterns."

He looked at the gate.

"…Nightmare isn't just harder."

"…It's different."

They stepped in. The world shifted. Darkness. Cold air. A dense forest environment appeared around them, but unlike normal dungeons, this one felt alive. The ground was uneven, the trees twisted unnaturally, and the air carried a constant sense of threat.

Then, it happened. Movement. Everywhere.

"…We're surrounded."

Min Seoah's voice was calm. But sharp. Monsters emerged from all directions, wolf-like creatures with jagged bones protruding from their bodies, their eyes glowing with violent intent.

[Level: 12–14]

Higher than them. Stronger than them. Lee Hyun smiled slightly.

"…Perfect target."

They moved. At the same time. Lee Hyun activated Wind Push, shifting his position instantly to the side as the first monster lunged. His sword followed immediately, cutting through its neck in a clean arc.

At the same moment, Min Seoah raised her hand. Frost gathered instantly. A wave of ice spread across the ground, freezing multiple monsters mid-charge before she dashed forward, her blade slicing through them with precise, lethal movements.

No wasted motion. No hesitation. Lee Hyun followed up with Fire Spark, igniting a cluster of enemies, disrupting their formation before stepping in with Dragon Blade Dance.

His blade moved like a storm. Controlled. Deadly. Meanwhile, Min Seoah's combat was different. Elegant. Cold. Her sword left trails of frost, each strike slowing and weakening her opponents before finishing them cleanly.

"…Not bad," Lee Hyun muttered.

"…Focus."

She replied coldly.

Within minutes, the battlefield was clear. Bodies scattered. Silence returned.

"…Too easy."

But neither relaxed. Because they knew, this was only the beginning. As they moved deeper, the environment changed. The monsters, evolved. Larger. Faster. Smarter. They attacked in groups. Coordinated. Using terrain.

"…So this is nightmare level…"

Lee Hyun narrowed his eyes.

"…Good."

They fought again. Harder this time. Longer. More intense. Lee Hyun used Phantom Step, disappearing from one position and reappearing at another, leaving faint afterimages behind. His blade followed unpredictable paths, striking enemies before they could react.

Min Seoah unleashed her frost domain further, freezing entire sections of the battlefield, controlling space and limiting enemy movement. They didn't coordinate verbally. But, they didn't need to. Instinct. Awareness. Positioning. They moved together.

Time passed. Battles increased. Intensity rose. And slowly, they began to understand. Nightmare level wasn't about raw strength. It was about survival. Adaptation. Endurance. And cooperation.

As another wave fell, noth of them stood still for a moment. Breathing slightly heavier. But eyes sharper than ever.

"…You're not slowing me down."

Min Seoah said suddenly. Lee Hyun smiled.

"…Same to you."

A brief silence followed. Then, they moved again. Deeper. Stronger. Together.
