Chapter 1 - "He hated parties..."

He hated parties. His dumbass friend dragged him out there like he wanted a go. His dumbass friend was going to catch the girl of his dreams, a girl who was way too old for him. Kai didn't like loud music, large rooms, especially not small rooms with loud music, not quiet music in a small space with a few friends. He hated it all.

Kai dapped up his boy before heading to the bathroom. He could see everything clearly tonight. There was a tingling deep in his soul as the music faded out; he could smell smoke; some idiot must have opened his light next to a vent. Either way, he didn't care.

He walked out, and the room was bright, engulfed in fire; everyone was dead, or burning, and no one was left alive. He didn't know how a fire this quiet could happen, but no one yelled. The music turned all the way up as he saw it...

What it was was disgusting.

It sat there, eating Kai's boy's face. It laughed upon seeing him giving it his full attention. "What's the matter?" It sounded like its throat was gargling glass and metal. "Got face on my face?" He choked seeing it, but he knew that with that thing effortlessly killing everyone, he would just kill every breathing thing in the building.

It dared to laugh before dropping Kai's friend's face, and it stuck out its hand not to shake it but to set him alight too. The fire came. Kai's hand outstretched, better to lose an arm than his whole body. The demon was quite shocked when the fire curved around Kai's hand, but no matter, this next one would kill him.

Kai punched it across the face. Its head recoiled back, and he pretended to drop, "No... No..." Kai was about to hit it again when it abruptly spoke, "Just kidding." It grabbed Kai by the throat, pinning him! His neck was about to catch fire when he appeared next to the demon. He looked up at Kai, "I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me!" It laughed before slamming Kai against the wall by the throat. "You're a magic user!"

Kai didn't know what was worse, choking to death on the thick black smoke or being strangled to death. He coughed up blood before the balcony window shattered, before a man with a long black cloak barrelled in. He couldn't see his eyes or his face, but the cloak swirled. The demon attempted to snap Kai's neck when he appeared next to the cloaked man.

It wasn't slow; it was quick. The fight ended in seconds; the demon blew up in the man's presence. The man then picked him up as he passed out from the smoke inhalation, getting to him. "Yeah, I saw it, two of the eight fundamentals instinctively used, this kid's a natural. I'll bring him back to the Q for analysis."
