Nami's POV
Gigi and I finished lunch and resumed our shopping trip. Gigi would glare at anyone who even looked funny in my direction and it was honestly kinda cute. She takes her job seriously. We buy more stuff, she helps haggle it down further with couples discounts to just intimidation straight up. Just for that, I'd say shes basically my best friend right now.
Around mid afternoon, as we finish lunch I get a call from Brook informing me that he has found and is taking care of Luffy. Then Robin calls me some time later that there hasn't been any unusual chaos and she has a report for when we meetup later. My day had gone from good to probably the best I've had in too many to be good.
While feeling absolutely joyous and relaxed for once i continue my spree with Gigi feeling lighter than air and free of general responsibility. Gigi sees it and manages to stop me from destroying my wallet quickly but lets me enjoy my freedom as we go from one shop to the next
"You seem happy." Gigi says as we walk to another shop, "Well, I mean its true." I say. She smirks "Something or someone?" she asks teasingly and I glare at her "Bit of both." I answer while still glaring. She smirks wider. "Do tell, I'm all ears" she says as we enter another store. "Well, for one, I have a bodyguard, two, she's hot, three, my annoyingly chaotic captain is being supervised, sparing me of the stress of an international incident," She snorts at the last one and her smirk is more smug after I called her hot. Not my best idea to make her more cocky but I suppose its fine. "You think I'm hot?" she asks smirking as she picks out a cute scarf. I blush at her question. She pats me sympathetically, "Its alright princess, Your cute enough for me." She says teasingly and I blush and trip slightly as I slap her arm away playfully "What?! No! Don't get any ideas!" I say and she smirks wider as we arrive at the cashier with the scarf and she pays for it then we continue our spree.
As we go to the next shop there is a loud sound in the distance. I glance in the direction it came from and see smoke. "What's happening?" I ask. Gigi shrugs but takes my arm protectively. "I'm sure it'll be fine." she says as she leads me away. I glance in that direction again when I hear it again and Gigi tightens her grip slightly more, glancing slightly worriedly. but we continue our shopping.
I was still concerned about what was happening despite Gigi's reassurance and so, after we leave the shop, I let Gigi stay close when suddenly, a storefront explodes. Gigi quickly moves me out of the way and covers me, taking most of the damage and her sword drawn. "What's happening?!" I ask. "I don't know. Just stay back." She says and I obey.
From inside the ruined storefront, I hear rhythmic THUMP THUMP of multiple heavy somethings walking toward us. Multiple silhouettes appear in the smoke as they approach and Gigi grips her sword tighter "Dont worry," she says to me "I wont let anything touch you." she says reassuringly.
From the smoke, three figures emerge, a man with a dark long coat, silver pistol on his belt, with a dark hat covering his eyes. followed by two robots- no metalmonsters, at least 7ft tall each, made of dark metal with boots of lead, glowing white eyes and massive katanas on their backs.
"Give up and hand her over." the man says, no pretense, no buildup. Gigi blinks, surprised by the forwardness but her grip tightens, "The hell? No way." She says. The man rubs his head, annoyed. "Please, it makes both our lives easier." he says and she shakes her head "No! What's your deal? What do you want from her." She demands. The man rubs his head more. "I don't have to tell you shit, just move out of the way." he says. "Like hell I will." She says, not moving away in the slightest. Without hesitation, in one swift movement, the man pulls his gun off his belt and shoots her in the shoulder. She staggers back, surprised, "What the-" She says. "Gigi!" I shout, feeling helpless, "What do you want?" I ask the man who doesn't answer. "No Nami!" she says, standing back up. "You wont get past me that easily." she says raising her sword and the man sighs. "Look, this is gonna be messy so just hand her over or I'll riddle you full of lead. Last chance." he says and she doesn't budge so he signals to the metal monsters behind him that advance. She stops the one headed toward me and the other one tries to go around and she fights both. Feeling helpless, I decide to join and pull out my Clima Tacta and summon a Lightning Tempo on one of the robots. It doesn't even slow or acknowledge it and Gigi sees that too. "Run Nami!." she says and I hesitate and decide to try one last thing, "Mirage Tempo," I shout, summoning it and creating mirage versions of her. Gigi quickly uses it to her advantage and as they cut through another she attacks and cuts it in half. The other quickly, seeing that begins pursuing me. I begin running quickly and she intercepts it. I don't let her distraction go to waste and run.
Once i'm farther away, I begin heading to the docks to meet the others. I need to tell them and also try to figure out what's happening soon. Hopefully Gigi got away too, I don't think I could stand the alternative.
God damn it. So much for a good day.
