Ragetti was surprised, subconsciously bringing his hand to his eye.
Rigel really wanted that eye, he didn't care much about the treasure around him, not as much as getting an upgrade for his pirate hat.
"Sir, please, I need it..." Ragetti began to speak.
Pintel slapped his friend, his eyes wide. "Just give him the eye already!"
Ragetti pursed his lips, but finally looked away and gestured for him with his hand.
Rigel saw the dirty eye and his lips pursed, pointing at it, he first wiped it. - "Scourgify" - then picked it up.
As soon as he caught the eye, the Adventure Book opened again before him.
[Congratulations, writer, for updating the attributes of the "Pirate Hat".]
[Pirate Hat (Gold)]
[Type: Bound Item (Can only be used by the Writer. it returns to you within a certain distance.)]
[Effect 1: Leader's Authority -> Increases the loyalty of all followers by a minimum of 70/100. (Note: This effect only works while the follower is under your command, if they resign, are expelled, or betrayed, this effect is lost.)]
[Effect 2: The wind and tide are always in your favor -> When commanding one or more ships, you gain 70% more speed while enemy ships lose 70% of their speed.]
[Effect 3: Captain's Blessing -> Subordinates receive a boost during battle, becoming more motivated, focused, and courageous, increasing their overall power by 50%.]
[To upgrade the Pirate Hat to (Platinum) you need to become the Pirate King, elected by the holders of the 9 pieces of Ocho, good luck, Writer.]
Rigel, wearing his hat, felt the immediate change in the wind around him, even though he was far from his ship, he could feel the wind running through his body as if it were waiting for the moment to be released.
The hat had no real power, even after reaching the Gold grade, but that didn't matter much to Rigel, the hat was useful nonetheless.
The way to unlock the next level of the hat didn't surprise him, in fact, he expected it. After all, after the pirate lord, there's the pirate king. When Davy Jones attacks, that will be the moment he achieves it. Jack might even help him with the right encouragement.
Speaking of him, at that moment, Jack approached, feeling even more uncomfortable. He was still a subordinate of Rigel, so the more loyal he felt to Rigel, the more uncomfortable he felt. He just wanted to get the Pearl and get as far away from Rigel as possible.
"Sorry to bother you, Captain." Jack pronounced "Captain" with such familiarity that it surprised him, further panicking him and making his eyes widen. "But if you keep killing pirates like this, there won't be anyone left to pilot my ship."
Rigel stopped, looking around, the pirates still fleeing and fighting the snakes, most of them already dead.
"Stop." Rigel hissed in Parseltongue, making Jack take another step back, his fear of that language evident.
The snakes stopped, slowly returning to the water. The pirates finally managed to catch their breath, but two still ended up falling soon after, dead from snake bites. Only 8 remained, including Pintel and Ragetti.
"Thank you." Jack said, clasping his hands together before taking a step back, standing behind Will, his fear still evident.
Will was embracing Elizabeth, the woman looking at Rigel extremely confused, and Will, now that the adrenaline had worn off, was nervous about what would happen next, hoping that Rigel would let them go.
Rigel ignored them, rolling the eye on his hand, before putting it in his bag and starting to walk towards the Aztec Gold, while Jack was ready to "recruit" the pirates.
Halfway there, Rigel stopped, looking at the monkey on the ground, squealing, trapped by a snake. He had forgotten about it, the snake hadn't killed the monkey, it had only tied it up.
"What should I do with this one?" the snake asked, when it saw Rigel looking at it.
Rigel blinked, still staring at the monkey in deep thought, but the monkey was intelligent, he saw Rigel there and began to scream in his direction. Unfortunately, he didn't understand the language of monkeys.
But the Adventure Book reappeared before him, words springing to him quickly.
[Jack (the white-faced capuchin monkey) wishes to submit to you, a special condition has been met, you can bind him and make him your familiar.]
[Note that you still need a magic passport to get him out of the Pirates of the Caribbean world.]
[Do you wish to accept?]
Rigel paused for a moment, curious and confused. He spoke to the Book, knowing everyone would ignore his words. "Why did this contract only appear with Jack(monkey) and not with Salazar?"
[Special conditions must be met for you to get a familiar, not only must the animal want it, but it needs to be special enough. Jack is a recurring character in the story and has enough prominence.]
Rigel understood, so the reason was that Jack was famous and Salazar was just a random find.
"Is there any difference between a familiar and a normal animal?" Rigel continued to ask curiously.
[You can perfectly understand your familiar, just as they can understand you, even without the specific language.]
Rigel nodded before saying. "In that case, I agree."
The next moment, Rigel felt a connection forming between himself and the monkey, the monkey seemed to feel it too, ceasing its screams.
"Release him." Rigel said to the snake.
The snake quickly released him, before following the other snakes into the water. Jack, on the other hand, jumped quickly, climbing onto Rigel's shoulder.
Rigel smelled the monkey's stench, and also thought it probably had fleas and ticks, so he almost threw it away.
Taking a deep breath, he pointed the wand at the monkey and began to clean it, he could treat the parasites later.
"Thank you, master!" Jack said. "It's much better now! It's not itchy anymore!"
It was actually just monkey cries, but Rigel understood perfectly. Rigel nodded and ignored the monkey on his shoulder, continuing to climb up the gold to reach the Aztec coins.
