Lucas stood outside the study door looking deeply conflicted.
Originally, he had only wanted to give a magical item to a friend.
Who could have guessed that Kafi's communication skills were somehow powerful enough to turn a storage ring into a full marriage proposal?
Now Mrs. Greengrass was rushing home at top speed while Mr. Greengrass had already started drinking away his sorrow with expensive wine he normally treasured for years.
Lucas stood outside the study blushing awkwardly, looking like he wanted to enter but lacked the courage.
Meanwhile, the system laughed so hard it practically sounded like a pig squealing.
"Ding! No wonder the host remained single for thirty years in your previous life."
"That's enough!"
The system immediately continued.
"Ding! New mission released!"
"Mission Objective: Resolve the misunderstanding without lowering the Greengrass family's favorability."
"Mission Reward: Random treasure chest. Rewards are not limited to this world."
"Does the host accept?"
"I accept."
Lucas accepted instantly without hesitation.
Then a confident smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.
The system suddenly became suspicious.
"Ding! Accepted immediately? Was your embarrassment fake all along?"
Lucas chuckled.
"I was waiting for you to release a mission."
"Ding?"
"I've already figured you out." Lucas leaned casually against the wall. "Whenever something amusing happens, you love throwing out temporary missions to tempt me into doing troublesome things."
"And the rewards are always good."
The system went silent briefly.
"…Ding! That is correct. This mission was originally added purely because watching you suffer looked entertaining."
"Unfortunately, the host tricked the system instead."
Then the system immediately snorted.
"Still, don't get overconfident. You still need to solve the problem."
"What's difficult about this?" Lucas said calmly. "I could walk into the study right now and explain everything directly to Mr. Greengrass."
"That would solve the misunderstanding immediately."
The system paused again.
"…Ding! That actually makes sense."
"Ding! The system has once again been deceived by the host!"
Lucas smiled knowingly.
"But if I do that, Cassandra will definitely get angry."
"So that isn't the best solution."
"The ideal outcome is simple."
Lucas's smile became even more harmless.
"I know absolutely nothing."
After saying that, he casually bent down and picked up two small pebbles from the ground.
Then he calmly walked toward the Greengrass family library.
The library had already been opened freely to him, allowing him to enter and read whenever he wished.
"Ding! What exactly is the host planning?"
Lucas smiled lightly.
"To read."
…
Meanwhile, Mrs. Greengrass finally returned home.
The moment she entered the study and saw Mr. Greengrass drowning his sorrows in alcohol, she nearly lost her temper immediately.
She marched over and twisted his ear hard.
"Explain what's happening with our daughter right now."
"I heard you were crying tears of joy?"
"Joy?" Mr. Greengrass looked devastated. "Merlin's beard, I've never been sadder in my life!"
He looked utterly broken.
"I went to ask Cassandra directly, but she told me it was none of my business and ordered me to stop bothering her."
He covered his face miserably.
"Elena… our daughter must truly hate this family now. She's in such a hurry to get married and leave home…"
Mrs. Greengrass immediately narrowed her eyes.
"How exactly did you ask her?"
Mr. Greengrass honestly repeated the entire conversation from beginning to end.
After hearing it, Mrs. Greengrass looked completely speechless.
"If you asked her like that, I'd tell you to leave too."
She sighed helplessly.
"Kassandra is still a little girl. Of course she'd feel embarrassed about something like this."
"You questioned her so directly. It would be strange if she reacted calmly."
Then Mrs. Greengrass headed upstairs toward Cassandra's bedroom.
Mr. Greengrass silently followed behind his wife while not daring to say another word.
Knock knock.
"Kassandra," Mrs. Greengrass called gently, "it's Mum. Can you open the door?"
Inside the room, Cassandra immediately panicked slightly.
"M-Mum…"
Still, after hesitating briefly, she eventually opened the door.
Mrs. Greengrass entered calmly while Mr. Greengrass hovered nervously behind her.
"What's our little lady doing hiding inside her room during the middle of the day?" Mrs. Greengrass asked naturally.
"Nothing," Cassandra answered quickly while avoiding eye contact. "I just suddenly felt tired and wanted to rest."
Mrs. Greengrass pretended not to notice her suspicious behavior.
"Oh? I heard Lucas gave you a lovely little gift earlier. May I see it?"
Not hearing words like proposal or engagement ring immediately relaxed Cassandra slightly.
After hesitating for a moment, she slowly removed the ring from her finger.
The instant her skin touched the ring, glowing silver letters appeared once again.
Cassandra Greengrass.
Mr. Greengrass watched silently from the side while feeling his heart sink further.
That definitely looked like an engagement ring.
After all, his own wedding ring with Elena reacted similarly.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Greengrass carefully examined the ring itself.
Interestingly, while the ring remained in her hand, Cassandra's name disappeared entirely.
It clearly recognized magical ownership.
"What a beautiful ring," Mrs. Greengrass praised honestly.
Cassandra stared at the ring nervously the entire time, almost as if she feared her mother might refuse to return it.
Then suddenly—
Mrs. Greengrass struck directly.
"Kassandra," she said calmly, "you do understand what it means when a boy gives a ring to a girl, yes?"
"And what it means when the girl willingly allows him to place it on her finger personally?"
Whoosh!
Cassandra's face instantly turned bright red again.
"What does it mean?" she blurted out. "I don't understand anything!"
"It's just an ordinary gift!"
No matter what happened, she absolutely refused to admit it.
Mrs. Greengrass nearly smiled.
"Hm… regardless, this appears to be handmade."
"Lucas must have spent considerable effort making it."
She leaned slightly closer.
"So why don't we go thank him together?"
Cassandra froze completely.
Go see Lucas now?
Absolutely not!
At this moment, she still wanted to bury herself underground from embarrassment.
Unfortunately, before she could think of an excuse, Mrs. Greengrass suddenly smiled knowingly.
"Kassandra… are you perhaps afraid of seeing Lucas?"
"I-I'm not afraid!"
Cassandra instantly straightened up defensively.
Then, in typical Slytherin fashion, she immediately walked straight into the trap herself.
"Fine. Let's go."
