Lucas sat quietly inside the library, pretending to read an absurdly thick magical tome.
In reality, however, most of his attention remained focused elsewhere.
He stayed in that position until the entire Greengrass family arrived together.
The moment they entered, Lucas instinctively checked his danger-warning ability.
No reaction.
Good.
That meant this conversation was safe.
Only then did Lucas finally look up as though he had just noticed them arriving.
The moment he saw the three of them, he immediately stood respectfully.
"Mr. Greengrass, thank you very much for allowing me access to your family library," he said sincerely. "The collection here is incredible."
"Oh… it's nothing…" Mr. Greengrass replied awkwardly while subconsciously glancing toward his wife.
Mrs. Greengrass stepped forward directly.
In her hand was Cassandra's ring.
Clearly, she intended to ask Lucas whether he had genuinely proposed marriage.
But before she could speak—
Lucas suddenly spoke first.
"Ah, right. I almost forgot."
He quickly reached into his pocket and took out another exquisitely crafted ring before handing it respectfully to Mrs. Greengrass.
"Thank you very much for taking care of me," he said earnestly. "I've never experienced warmth like this before."
"So… I made some small gifts as repayment."
"They may not be especially valuable, but they represent my gratitude."
The moment those words left his mouth—
The entire Greengrass family froze.
Mrs. Greengrass stared blankly at the ring in her hand.
"…You made this for me?"
"Yes," Lucas replied innocently.
His eyes looked so pure and harmless that even Mrs. Greengrass momentarily doubted her own assumptions.
Meanwhile, if Lucas had been even four or five years older, Mr. Greengrass probably would have physically thrown him out the window already.
What exactly was this boy doing?
Giving rings to both the daughter and the mother in front of the father?
Fortunately, Lucas calmly took out yet another ring and handed it toward Mr. Greengrass as well.
"This one is for you."
Then he smiled brightly.
"Thanks to your generosity in opening the library to me, I discovered a fascinating spell inside one of the books."
"The Undetectable Extension Charm."
Seeing that all three Greengrasses still looked completely confused, Lucas casually picked up the ring Mr. Greengrass had not yet accepted.
Then he lightly brushed it across the thick magical tome resting on the desk.
The enormous book vanished instantly.
Mr. Greengrass's eyes widened dramatically.
"Merlin's beard…"
"You actually managed to cast the Undetectable Extension Charm onto a ring?!"
His voice was full of disbelief.
It was not as though nobody had attempted this before.
Many skilled wizards had tried enchanting small accessories with expansion magic.
Most failed entirely.
Even successful attempts usually created tiny internal spaces barely large enough to hold a pocket watch.
Yet Lucas's ring had just swallowed an entire book effortlessly.
Mr. Greengrass immediately grabbed the ring from Lucas's hand and examined it closely.
Soon, he discovered the tiny hidden opening.
Carefully, he extended his magic inward.
Then his expression changed completely.
"Gorgon's gaze…"
"The internal space could fit an entire fireplace!"
Mrs. Greengrass stepped closer to Lucas slowly.
"So the three rings were all modified using the Undetectable Extension Charm?"
Lucas immediately took half a step backward instinctively.
At close range, Mrs. Greengrass looked uncannily similar to Cassandra.
Except this was essentially an older, fully matured version radiating overwhelming queen-like pressure.
Standing too close to her was genuinely stressful.
Lucas nodded quickly.
"Yes."
"I gave Cassandra her ring earlier today, but she ran away before I could explain that it was a storage ring."
The moment he finished speaking—
Cassandra reacted the strongest.
"So you gave me the ring not because…"
She abruptly stopped mid-sentence.
Lucas blinked.
"…Not because what?"
Whoosh!
Cassandra's face instantly turned red again.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Greengrass stared directly into Lucas's eyes.
"So…" she asked calmly, "you truly don't understand what it means to give a ring to a girl?"
Lucas immediately looked panicked.
Like a child realizing far too late that he had accidentally detonated a social catastrophe.
He swallowed nervously.
"…What does it mean?"
Mrs. Greengrass answered slowly.
"It means the boy is proposing marriage."
Lucas's face instantly turned crimson.
"P-proposal?!"
"Oh no…"
"I… this…"
He looked completely horrified.
"I lost a lot of memories…"
"So I genuinely couldn't remember this kind of common sense…"
His expression became increasingly devastated.
"How could this happen…"
"I'm still a child…"
The atmosphere instantly changed.
Mr. Greengrass nearly burst into tears from relief.
"So it really was a misunderstanding!"
Wonderful!
His precious daughter was not getting married at eleven after all!
Meanwhile, Mrs. Greengrass also looked visibly embarrassed now.
After all…
Lucas truly was just a child.
How could they seriously assume an eleven-year-old understood formal proposal customs?
She cleared her throat awkwardly.
"Ahem. Thank you very much for the gifts, Lucas."
"But please remember this carefully in the future."
"You absolutely must not casually give rings to girls."
Then suddenly—
"Kafi!"
Snap!
The house-elf instantly appeared.
"It's Kafi's fault!" the elf cried immediately. "Please punish Kafi severely, Mistress!"
Her ears drooped sadly.
Honestly, she still thought Lucas and Cassandra matched perfectly.
At this moment, however, Lucas stepped forward instead.
"Mrs. Greengrass, this really isn't Kafi's fault."
He smiled helplessly.
"I personally put the ring onto Cassandra's finger myself."
"Kafi only misunderstood because of my lack of common sense."
"And she cares deeply about Cassandra, so naturally she became excited."
"So please don't punish her."
Mrs. Greengrass sighed helplessly.
"…Very well."
The moment she agreed, Kafi burst into tears again.
"Oh! Mr. Summers is actually pleading on Kafi's behalf!"
"Mr. Summers is far too kind!"
Lucas immediately developed another headache.
"All right, stop crying."
"Could you bring me a cup of black tea instead?"
"Yes! Of course!" Kafi squealed happily. "Kafi will go immediately!"
Snap!
The house-elf vanished.
At that exact moment—
Cassandra suddenly turned around and ran.
Lucas immediately chased after her.
Mrs. Greengrass looked worried.
"Did we push Cassandra too hard?" she asked softly. "Perhaps she's angry with Lucas now."
Mr. Greengrass, meanwhile, was already happily studying his storage ring.
"What's there to worry about?" he replied cheerfully. "Small arguments between young people only make them closer later."
…
"Cassandra!"
Lucas quickly caught up to her outside before grabbing her wrist gently.
"Where are you going?"
Cassandra's eyes looked slightly red.
She struggled lightly while speaking coldly.
"I suddenly don't feel very well."
"I want to go rest."
"Let go of me."
Inside her heart, however, emotions churned chaotically.
So it really was all a misunderstanding.
Of course he wasn't proposing.
How could someone as dense as him possibly understand romance?
Everything had just been her own imagination.
Idiot.
Big stupid blockhead.
Cassandra felt embarrassed, disappointed, and angry all at once.
But the person she felt most frustrated with…
Was herself.
After all, she understood perfectly well that none of this was actually Lucas's fault.
He had lost many memories.
How could he know these social customs?
Eventually, Cassandra stopped struggling and looked at him helplessly.
Then Lucas suddenly raised her right hand gently.
"You forgot something."
Before Cassandra could react, Lucas carefully slid the ring back onto her ring finger.
Cassandra froze completely.
This time…
Lucas already knew what the ring meant.
Her heartbeat instantly accelerated wildly.
Then Lucas leaned closer slightly before whispering softly beside her ear—
"So…"
"You really wished it was an engagement ring after all, didn't you?"
"Ahhh! You idiot!"
